Study of Zirconium and Hafnium Separation by Solvent Extraction Technique from Nitric and Hydrochloric Solutions with Acid, Basic and Neutral Extractants

This paper describes the study of the extraction of Zr and Hf in nitric and hydrochloric media by solvent extraction technique using different types of extractants. The effect of the extractants DEHPA, IONQUEST?801 and CYANEX?272, TBP, CYANEX?923, PRIMENE?JTM, ALAMINE?336 and ALIQUAT?336 was investigated. For acid extractants in both nitric and hydrochloric media, a high degree of extraction was observed, although they had low selectivity in separating the metals. For the acid extractants also, it was not possible to strip the metals from the organic phase through acid solutions. In this case, a stripping solution with very high acidity would be required, and this is not viable. When the basic extractants were used, no metal extraction was observed under the conditions investigated, indicating no extractable anionic species in either media. The optimum zirconium/hafnium separation was achieved using an acidity of 7.0 mol?L?1, nitrate concentration of 9.2 mol?L?1 and 1.5 mol?L?1 of TBP. In these conditions, a separation factor of 12.6 was obtained.

Mango(Mangifera indica)is a major tropical fruit species cultivated in *** objective of this study was to identify species of Lasiodiplodia associated with dieback and stem-end rot of mango in the semi-arid region of Northeastern Brazil,and compare the species in relation to mycelial growth,pathogenicity and virulence.A total of 120 isolates of Lasiodiplodia were used and identifications were made using a combination of morphology and phylogenetic analysis based on partial translation elongation factor 1-αsequence(EF1-α)and internal transcribed spacers(ITS).The following species were identified:Lasiodiplodia crassispora,***,***,***,***,*** and Lasiodiplodia sp..Lasiodiplodia theobromae was the most frequently isolated species,which represented 41%of all the *** this species had been previously reported on mango in Brazil,while the other species represent the first report associated with mango tree diseases in this *** crassispora is reported for the first time associated with mango diseases *** were significant differences in mycelial growth rates among the Lasiodiplodia species and also in the optimum temperature for *** species of Lasiodiplodia were pathogenic on mango *** were significant differences in virulence among the species,wherein *** and Lasiodiplodia *** the most virulent,while the least virulent were ***,***,*** and ***.

Spinal cord injuries have profound detrimental effects on individuals, regardless of whether they are caused by trauma or non-traumatic events. The compromised regeneration of the spinal cord is primarily attributed to damaged neurons, inhibitory molecules, dysfunctional immune response, and glial scarring. Unfortunately, currently, there are no effective treatments available that can fully repair the spinal cord and improve functional outcomes. Nevertheless, numerous pre-clinical approaches have been studied for spinal cord injury recovery, including using biomaterials, cells, drugs, or technological-based strategies. Combinatorial treatments, which target various aspects of spinal cord injury pathophysiology, have been extensively tested in the last decade. These approaches aim to synergistically enhance repair processes by addressing various obstacles faced during spinal cord regeneration. Thus, this review intends to provide scientists and clinicians with an overview of pre-clinical combinatorial approaches that have been developed toward the solution of spinal cord regeneration as well as update the current knowledge about spinal cord injury pathophysiology with an emphasis on the current clinical management.

Numerical simulation of water flow over the stepped spillway is conducted using Mixture multiphase flow model. Different turbulence models are chosen to enclose the controlling equations. The turbulence models investigated are realizable k-ε model, SST k-ω model, v2-f model and LES model. The computational results by the four turbulence models are compared with experimental ones in the following aspects: mean velocity, the spanwise vorticity and the growth of the turbulent boundary layer thickness in the streamwise direction. It is found from the comparison that the realizable k-ε model, in which the rotation tensor is included, shows good performance for simulation of flows involving rotation, boundary layer and recirculation. The realizable k-ε model is the most efficient in simulating flow over stepped spillways. Further, the characteristics of water flow on the stepped spillway are studied in terms of the mean velocity profile normal to the pseudo-bottom and the pressure field on the steps based on the simulation results using realizable k-ε model.

Density function theory calculations of frequency-dependent optical rotations [α]ω for three rigid chiral molecules are reported. Calculations have been carried out at the sodium D line frequency, using the ADZP basis set and a wide variety of functionals. Gauge-invariant atomic orbitals are used to guarantee origin-independent values of [ω]D. In addition, study of geometry dependence of [ω]D is reported. Using the geometries optimized at the B3LYP/ADZP level, the mean absolute deviation of B3LYP/ADZP and experimental laiD values yields 60.1°/（dm g/cm^3）. According to our knowledge, this value has not been achieved until now with any other model.

The high dynamic power requirements present in modern railway transportation systems raise research challenges for an optimal operation of railway electrification. This paper presents a Monte Carlo analysis on the application of a power transfer device installed in the neutral zone and exchanging active power between two sections. The main analyzed parameters are the active power balance in the two neighbor traction power substations and the system power losses. A simulation framework is presented to comprise the desired analysis and a universe of randomly distributed scenarios are tested to evaluate the effectiveness of the power transfer device system. The results show that the density of trains and the relative branch length of a traction power substation should be considered in the evaluation phase of the best place to install a power transfer device, towards the reduction of the operational power losses, while maintaining the two substations balanced in terms of active power.

Hardy spaces with generalized parameter are introduced following the maximal characterization approach. As particular cases, they include the classical Hp spaces and the Hardy-Lorentz spaces H^p,q. Real interpolation results with function parameter are obtained, Based on them, the behavior of some classical operators is studied in this generalized setting.

The water crisis is one of the biggest human problems in developing countries,especially in semi-arid regions where it can form an obstacle to irrigation and cultivation,cattle raising and people's *** construction of small dams/reservoirs are a possible solution to remediate this *** infrastructures must be located in suitable areas to be *** study aimed to find the most suitable locations for small dams/reservoirs in the Tete province region,Mozambique,which has a pronounced water deficit A Geographical Information System(GIS)based approach was used to implement a multicriteria evaluation(MCE)analysis through an Analytic Hierarchical Process(AHP),which included local experts’*** main categories of suitability were identified:"Not suitable”(15%of total area),"Modestly suitable"(78%),and“Suitable"(7%).We found that 35 of the 38(92%)abandoned small dams/reservoirs were in areas classified as“Modestly suitable”confirming the robustness of our *** also found that most of the dams/reservoirs currently operating(78%)and planned(73%)are in modestly suitable *** finding suggests that the decision to construct dams/reservoirs may not have considered the most critical suitability factors identified in this *** data and/or additional criteria are required for the full understanding of finding out why so many dams/reservoirs failed before building new ones to address the population’s water needs in the region.
