Nicotinamide (NA), a naturally occuring vitamin and a protease inhibitor, has been shown to be effective in treating some skin ailments. It inhibits cell proiferaion and induces cell differentiation. This report shows the effects of NA on mouse skin tumor development and on the critical events involved in this process. NA reduced tumor growth, inhibited the 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate (TPA) induced ornithine decarboxylase activity, but induced the transglutaminare activity which was inhibited by TPA under different experimental *** effects of NA on ornithine decarboxylare (ODC) and transglutaminase (TG) indicated that nicotinamide (NA) probably programmmed the cells for their death in the natural course of time, i.e. programed cell death. This observation indicates that NA might be a better agent for the detailed study and for the better use in prevention of cancer alone or in combination with other drugs.

A great deal of effort has been made over the last decades to develop a better polarized electron source for high energy physics. Several laboratories operate DC guns with a gallium arsenide photocathode, which yield a highly polarized electron beam. However, the beam’s emittance might well be improved by using a superconducting radio frequency （SRF） electron gun, which delivers beams of a higher brightness than that from DC guns because the field gradient at the cathode is higher. SRF guns with metal and CsTe cathodes have been tested successfully. To produce polarized electrons, a Gallium-Arsenide photo-cathode must be used： an experiment to do so in a superconducting RF gun is under way at BNL. Since a bulk gallium arsenide （GaAs） photocathode is normal conducting, a problem arises from the heat load stemming from the cathode. We present our measurements of the electrical resistance of GaAs at cryogenic temperatures, a prediction of the heat load and verification by measuring the quality factor of the gun with and without the cathode at 2 K. We simulate heat generation and flow from the GaAs cathode using the ansYS program. By following the findings with the heat load model, we designed and fabricated a new cathode holder （plug） to decrease the heat load from GaAs.

We discuss two separate techniques for Kalman Filtering in the presence of state space equality *** discuss these methods and then prove that despite the lack of similarity in their formulations,under certain conditions,the two methods result in mathematically equivalent constrained estimate *** then discuss numerical stability for *** conclude that the potential benefits of using equality constraints in Kalman Filtering often outweigh the computational costs,and as such,equality constraints,when present,should be enforced by way of one of these two methods.

AIM To investigate the association of NFKB1 gene-94 ATTG insertion/deletion(rs28362491) polymorphism with inflammatory markers and risk of diabetic nephropathy in Asian *** A total of 300 subjects were recruited(100 each), normoglycemic,(NG); type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) without any complications(DM) and T2 DM with diabetic nephropathy [DM-chronic renal disease(CRD)]. Analysis was carried out by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism and ELISA. Pearson's correlation, analysis of variance and logistic regression wereused for statistical *** The allelic frequencies of-94 ATTG insertion/deletion were 0.655/0.345(NG), 0.62/0.38(DM) and 0.775/0.225(DM-CRD). The-94 ATTG ins allele was associated with significantly increased levels of urinary monocyte chemoattractant protein-1(u MCP-1); u MCP-1(P = 0.026) and plasma tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α); TNF-α(P = 0.030) and almost doubled the risk of diabetic nephropathy(OR = 1.91, 95%CI: 1.080-3.386, P = 0.025).CONCLuSION-94 ATTG ins/ins polymorphism might be associated with increased risk of developing nephropathy in Asian Indian subjects with diabetes mellitus.

本文以上海天文台佘山40厘米折射望远镜于1958年拍摄的3张照相底片为第一期，印度Kavalur的234米VainuBappu望远镜于1996年用CCD拍摄的4幅图像为第二期，使用Brosche等1985年发表的球状星团NGC4147天区42颗恒星的位置和绝对自行作为参考架，用中心重叠法进行天体测量归算，得到了这个星团中心附近11'×11'天区内到B＝17.6为止115颗恒星的位置和绝对自行，利用这些自行对成员概率作了估计.本文还给出了用VainuBappu望远镜CCD测光结果得到的这个星因水平文和巨星支恒星V与B-V．V－R和V－I颜色星等图，并对这些颜色星等图和团自行作了讨论，得到这个星团的赤经方向绝对自行为-2.82±0.49mas／yr，赤纬方向绝对自行为2.37±0.43mas／yr.

印度是世界上第三大CO排放国。中国和美国作为世界上第一和第二大CO排放国,他们的CO排放量已经达到了峰值,然而近些年来印度CO的排放量仍在上升。为探究印度将在何时何地实现自身CO排放量的峰值,本文根据环境库兹涅兹曲线(EKC)假说,分析了印度的GDP和CO排放量之间是否存在倒u型曲线关系。具体的说,本文基于1971-2014年的时间序列数据,采用了ARDL模型分析了印度CO排放量与不同的经济变量之间的关系,这些变量包括化石能源消费量、GDP、贸易开放度、农耕土地规模和农村人口密集度。结果表明,印度CO排放量与GDP间确实存在倒u型的EKC曲线关系,并且将在GDP增加至11.234万亿美元时实现拐点。2017年印度的GDP是2.487万亿美元,假设印度GDP按照OECD和世界银行7.4%的预测值增长,则印度将在2039年达到CO排放量的峰值。印度在巴黎协定中曾承诺,到2030年时将本国温室气体排放量在2005年的基础上降低33%-35%。然而,就当前研究结果来看,与承诺并不相符。为实现这一目标,印度仍需在提升能源使用效率和开发可再生能源方面制定更加强有力的政策。

Computational materials discovery efforts are enabled by large databases of properties derived from high-throughput density functional theory(DFT),which now contain millions of calculations at the generalized gradient approximation(GGA)level of *** is now feasible to carry out high-throughput calculations using more accurate methods,such as meta-GGA DFT;however recomputing an entire database with a higher-fidelity method would not effectively leverage the enormous investment of computational resources embodied in existing(GGA)***,we propose here a general procedure by which higher-fidelity,low-coverage calculations(e.g.,meta-GGA calculations for selected chemical systems)can be combined with lower-fidelity,high-coverage calculations(e.g.,an existing database of GGA calculations)in a robust and scalable *** then use legacy PBE(+u)GGA calculations and new r2SCAN meta-GGA calculations from the Materials Project database to demonstrate that our scheme improves solid and aqueous phase stability predictions,and discuss practical considerations for its implementation.
