Endoribonucleases govern the maturation and degradation of RNA and are indispensable in the posttranscriptional regulation of gene expression.A key endoribonuclease in Gram-negative bacteria is RNase *** ensure an appropriate supply of RNase E,some bacteria,such as Escherichia coli,feedback-regulate RNase E expression via the rne 5′-untranslated region(5′UTR)in ***,the mechanisms involved in the control of RNase E in other bacteria largely remain *** rely on solar light as an energy source for photosynthesis,despite the inherent ultraviolet(UV)*** this study,we first investigated globally the changes in gene expression in the cyanobacterium Synechocystis *** ^(6)803 after a brief exposure to *** the 407 responding genes 2 h after UV exposure was a prominent upregulation of rne mRNA ***,the enzymatic activity of RNase E rapidly increased as well,although the protein stability *** unique response was underpinned by the increased accumulation of full-length rne mRNA caused by the stabilization of its 5′UTR and suppression of premature transcriptional termination,but not by an increased transcription *** of RNA 3′ends and in vitro cleavage assays revealed that RNase E cleaves within a stretch of six consecutive uridine residues within the rne 5′UTR,indicating *** observations suggest that RNase E in cyanobacteria contributes to reshaping the transcriptome during the UV stress response and that its required activity level is secured at the RNA level despite the enhanced turnover of the protein.

The effect of hydrogen bond acceptor properties of ionic liquids on their cellulose solubility

It is nowadays well-known that ionic liquids can dissolve cellulose. However, little systematic data has been published that shed light onto the influence of the ionic liquid structure on the dissolution of cellulose. We have conducted 1H NMR spectroscopy of ethanol in a large number of ionic liquids, and found an excellent correlation of the data obtained with the hydrogen acceptor properties (β-values). With this tool in hand, it is possible to distinguish between cellulose-dissolving and non-dissolving ionic liquids. A modulating effect of both, the anion of the non-dissolving ionic liquid and its cation was found in solubility studies with binary ionic liquid mixtures. The study was extended to other non-dissolving liquids, namely water and dimethylsulfoxide, and the effect of the cation was also investigated.

Experimental proof of Joule heating-induced switched-back regions in OLEDs

Organic light-emitting diodes(OLEDs)have become a major pixel technology in the display sector,with products spanning the entire range of current panel *** ability to freely scale the active area to large and random surfaces paired with flexible substrates provides additional application scenarios for OLEDs in the general lighting,automotive,and signage *** applications require higher brightness and,thus,current density operation compared to the specifications needed for general *** extended transparent electrodes pose a significant ohmic resistance,OLEDs suffering from Joule self-heating exhibit spatial inhomogeneities in electrical potential,current density,and hence *** this article,we provide experimental proof of the theoretical prediction that OLEDs will display regions of decreasing luminance with increasing driving *** a two-dimensional OLED model,we can conclude that these regions are switched back locally in voltage as well as current due to insufficient lateral thermal ***,we demonstrate this effect in lab-scale devices and derive that it becomes more severe with increasing pixel size,which implies its significance for large-area,high-brightness use cases of ***,these non-linear switching effects cannot be ignored with respect to the long-term operation and stability of OLEDs;in particular,they might be important for the understanding of sudden-death scenarios.

The ectomycorrhizal symbiosis contribute to the nutrient and water uptake in the vast majority of tree *** mutualistic symbiosis between roots and ectomycorrhizal fungi requires a highly coordinated metabolic interplay involving bidirectional nutrient exchanges,metabolic zonation,enzyme activities regulation and metabolite *** investigations have demonstrated the key ecological role of ectomycorrhizal associations in nitrogen(N) cycling in *** the present project,we aim to get a better understanding of the regulation and coordination of the N utilized pathways in ectomycorrhizal ***,we have knocked down by RNAi-directed silencing glutamine synthase enzyme(LbGS) in the ectomycorrhizal basidiomycete *** using following agrotransformation to produce the gene silencing strains and validating by *** of the LbGS RNAi stains on MMN medium was reduced by comparison to wild-type and empty vector *** investigate the nitrogen metabolism pathway regulation,we analyze the global transcriptome of the transformants of LbGS RNAi which were cultured on different nitrogen sources as NH,NO and *** levels of glutamine synthetase activity were significantly reduced in transformants of LbGS *** of the ***-Poplar associations showed that these transformants have a reduced ability to form ectomycorrhizas by comparison to the wild type *** ***,microscopic sections of ectomycorrhizal roots showed that the LbGS RNAi strains formed a thinner mantle and no Hartig intraradicular hyphal *** together,we have investigated that the LbGS gene is key gene involving the ectomycorrhizal *** new genetic resources will allow us to study the coordination of the N assimilation pathways in the model system Laccaria/Populus.

菌根(Mycorrhiza)是土壤真菌与植物根系形成的共生体,在森林碳氮循环中发挥重要的作用。外生菌根共生体向植物提供水和营养物质(例如氮或磷酸盐)的同时获取植物光合作用固定的碳源,然而,植物向真菌输出碳源的分子机制尚不清楚。SWEET (sugars will eventually be exported transporters)转运蛋白具有糖的双向可逆转运功能,在致病菌侵染以及内生菌根真菌发育形成菌根的过程中都有这重要的作用。本研究以杨树(Popular)-双色蜡蘑(Laccaria bicolor)共生体为研究对象,研究发现杨树SWEET1基因只在根部表达而且在菌根形成发育的过程中强烈诱导表达;亚细胞定位发现PtaSWEET1定位在植物的细胞膜上;酵母糖转运缺失突变体的互补实验证实了PtaSWEET1具有转运葡萄糖和蔗糖的功能;SWEET1的自身启动子融合GUS报告基因,发现该基因主要表达在外生菌根的哈氏网周围。此外,研究发现SWEET1基因敲除突变体形成的菌根化率显著下降,但是菌套变厚、哈氏网变深,植株生长受到抑制;过表达SWEET1的杨树植株则是呈现相反的表型。综上所述,本研究聚焦杨树-双色蜡蘑共生的关键基因PtaSWEET1,首次解析了外生菌根共生过程植物向菌根真菌输出碳源的分子机制,该研究为深入理解植物与外生菌根真菌共生互作中营养交换机制提供了理论基础,杨树突变体则是为林木遗传改造提供了种质资源。

Pilot Trial on the Efficacy and Safety of a Natural Mineral Water Rich in Hydrogen Carbonate on Functional Dyspepsia and Heartburn

Background: Dyspepsia and heartburn are among the most frequent complaints of the upper gastrointestinal tract impacting quality of life. The present study aimed to investigate the impact of drinking a natural mineral water (medicinal product category “Heilwasser” in Germany) high in hydrogen carbonate (Staatl. Fachingen STILL) on functional dyspeptic complaints and heartburn. Methods: 56 men and women with self-reported heartburn were enrolled to this one-arm pilot study. They had to drink 1.5 L of a hydrogen carbonate rich mineral water each day over a course of six weeks. Participants reported the number and duration of heartburn episodes in a daily dairy. The Reflux Disease Questionnaire (RDQ), Quality of Life in Reflux and Dyspepsia questionnaire (QOLRAD) and the Gastrointestinal Quality of Life Index (GILQI) were used to assess the therapeutic course of the treatment and the Short Form Health Survey (SF-12) to assess general quality of life. Mean ± standard deviation were calculated and pre- and post-treatment changes were compared using the Wilcoxon test. Results: The consumption of a hydrogen carbonate rich mineral water decreased the number of heartburn episodes per week significantly by 4.8 ± 8.2 at the end of the study (p < 0.001). The duration of episodes was also significantly reduced by 25.7 minutes after six weeks of intervention (p < 0.001). Accordingly, the subjectively perceived severity of heartburn, regurgitation and dyspeptic complaints as well as the GERD dimension as assessed by Reflux Disease Questionnaire improved significantly. There was a significant improvement in the disease-specific quality of life as measured by the Gastrointestinal Quality of Life Index (p < 0.001) and by the Quality Of Life in Reflux and Dyspepsia (p < 0.001) questionnaires and the general health-related quality of life as assessed by SF-12 (p < 0.007). The following contribution aims at explaining BNetzA’s role in energy infrastructure regulation and planning/permitting of high-voltage electricity nationwide and cross-border transmission lines. It shows the interplay of the two main regulatory instruments and the planning/permitting task as well as more generally the changing role of the regulator in the era of energy transition. The article is based on two presentations on the topic, one at the VIIth WFER in Mexico in March 2018 and one at a conference on “The Governance of Maintenance and Investment in Infrastructures” of the University of Paris-Dauphine in April 2018.

本文提出被纳入前庭疾病国际分类(International Classification of Vestibular Disorders,ICVD)的持续性姿势-感知性头晕(PPPD)的诊断标准。PPPD虽然是一个新的医学术语,但该病的存在由来已久。前庭疾病分类委员会深入汇总、分析了近30年来恐惧性姿势性眩晕(Phobic Postural Vertigo,PPV)、空间运动不适(Space℃Motion Discomfort,SMD)、视觉性眩晕(Visual Vertigo,VV)和慢性主观性头晕(Chronic Subjective Dizziness,CSD)相关的研究,在此基础上提出了PPPD的诊断标准。临床上,头晕、不稳、非旋转性眩晕为PPPD的3个核心症状。PPPD患者常表现为这3个核心症状中的一个或多个,症状持续时间超过3个月,并且在直立姿势、主动/被动运动、暴露于移动视觉刺激或复杂视觉环境中时症状出现加重。PPPD可能与影响平衡系统或引起眩晕、不稳及头晕的疾病所触发有关,包括周围或中枢前庭病变、其他内科疾病或心理疾病。临床上,PPPD既可单独存在,也可与其他临床疾病共病。PPPD可能的亚型分类尚需进一步识别和验证。迄今为止,PPPD确切的病理生理机制尚不明确。新近研究表明,PPPD可能与躯体姿势控制、多感觉信息处理、威胁评估系统与空间定向系统皮质整合的功能异常相关。因此,PPPD被归类为慢性功能性前庭疾病,并不是结构性前庭疾病或精神心理性前庭疾病。
