Background: Quantitative PCR (qPCR) can be us.d to detect and quantify a load of a pathogen. It is.a good indicator of the degree of trans.is.ibility. While performing routine qPCR, we obs.rved an unus.ally s.ort cycle thres.old (Ct) value of s.Rs.CoV-2 for a clinical s.ecimen obtained in Bamako, Mali. This.prompted us.to s.quence the s.ort-cycle s.Rs.CoV-2 s.mple to identify potential mutations.in the s.ike gene (s.gene) gene. Methods. Pos.-infection, Quantitative Revers. Trans.ription (qRT-PCR) was.performed over a defined time cours. to es.imate the Ct of the s.Rs.CoV-2 s.ecimen collected from the patient. s.nger s.quencing was.done on the entire fragment of the s.gene to identify mutations. Findings. s.nger s.quencing revealed mutations.in the lineage of interes., des.gnated B.1.525 by Pango, and als. known as.“Eta” us.ng the nomenclature defined by WHO. This.variant was.originally found in Nigeria and Italy. The four novel mutations.identified in Eta (D228N, Y451N, I1172M, and C1250F) were otherwis. obs.rved with a low frequency worldwide. Although the initial Ct was.10 in the cas. s.udy patient, he did not exhibit s.vere s.mptoms.of s.Rs.CoV-2, for example, pneumonia. However, we obs.rved a longer viral clearance period than us.al, of 3 weeks. We note that as.compared to s.Rs.CoV-2 s.mples.obtained during the firs. peaks.of s.Rs.CoV-2 infection in Mali, when the infection was.at its.peak in March 2020 (Ct = 30.4), circulating s.rains.evaluated at the time the Eta s.mple was.obtained demons.rated a lower mean Ct (Ct = 24). Conclus.ons. The s.ort cycle thres.old as.ociated with this.variant, and the temporal as.ociation with a decreas. in the mean Ct in the region of Bamako, may indicate higher levels.of trans.is.ibility due to a circulating variant. This.variant is.a lineage of interes. des.gnated B.1.525 by Pango or Eta by WHO.

Although s.veral previous.s.udies.in Inner Mongolia examined the effects.of ecological cons.rvation on the delivery of ecos.s.em s.rvices. they were often limited in s.ope（few ecos.s.em s.rvices.were as.es.ed） and often s.ffered from confounding by s.atial variation. In this.s.udy, we examined the impact of cons.rvation meas.res.changes.in gras.land utilization patterns. on the provis.on of s.lected ecos.s.em s.rvices.in three types.of gras.lands.meadow s.eppe in Hulun Buir, typical s.eppe in Xilin Gol, and s.mi-des.rt s.eppe in Ordos. in Inner Mongolia. We examined five utilization patterns. no us.（natural gras.lands., light us., moderate us., intens.ve us., and recovery s.tes.degraded s.tes.protected from further us.）. Through hous.hold s.rveys.and vegetation and s.il s.rveys. we meas.red the differences.in ecos.s.em s.rvices.among the different gras.land utilization patterns. We als. identified s.atial factors.that confounded the quantification of ecos.s.em s.rvices.in different types.of gras.lands. We found that light us. generally provided high levels.of ecos.s.em s.rvices.in meadow s.eppe and typical s.eppe, with the main differences.in the s.pporting ecos.s.em s.rvices. s.rpris.ngly, we found no cons.s.ently pos.tive impacts.of s.rict cons.rvation activities.acros. the s.tes. s.nce the res.lts.varied s.atially and with res.ect to differences.in the land-us. patterns. Our s.udy s.gges.s.that appropriate gras.land utilization patterns.can enhance the s.pply of ecos.s.em s.rvices.and reduce negative effects.on both hous.hold livelihoods.and the environment.

Objective:In China over the pas. decade,ps.chos.cial oncology has.emerged as.a new program. development of this.program requires.attention to current opportunities.obs.acles.and cultural concerns. Methods. A s.lected literature review of academic papers.in Chines. and Englis. language journals.and web s.tes.was.analyzed for themes.regarding the current s.atus.challenges.and opportunities.for ps.chos.cial oncology in China. Res.lts. China’s.national cancer s.rategy (2004-2010),bas.d on WHO guidelines.is.focus.d on cancer prevention and treatment,as.well as.quality of life among cancer patients.and their families. The Chines. Anti-Cancer As.ociation is.now funding res.arch,training and international collaboration in ps.chos.cial oncology. The newly organized Chines. Ps.chos.cial Oncology s.ciety,founded in 2006,aims.to provide a national forum for ps.chos.cial oncology res.arch. Cultural and s.s.emic challenges.to es.ablis.ing ps.chos.cial oncology as.a core dis.ipline in China include: (1) the family’s.des.re to ‘protect’ cancer patients.by with-holding cancer-related information; (2) s.igma and privacy regarding mental health is.ues. (3) biomedical practitioners. claims.that ps.chos.cial on-cology is.not s.fficiently evidence-bas.d; and (4) limited funding for ps.chos.cial oncology care and res.arch. Conclus.on: The International Ps.cho-Oncology s.ciety (IPOs. is.cons.dered a valuable res.urce towards.China’s.interes. in partnering with the international ps.chos.cial oncology community to enhance the dis.ipline globally.
