The development in technology of synthetic azo dyes,has led to excessive water resources *** n at lower concentration they can impart the quality of water and human ***,we have developed a novel synthesis strategy via introducing salicylic acid(SA)for the synthesis of a leachy crystalline material h-MIL-53(Fe)with hierarchical pores(hP)and exposed coordination unsaturated sites(CUS),which had higher surface area and larger pore volume than the as synthesized MIL-53(Fe).Due to these characteristics,h-MIL-53(Fe)was competent removal of orange G(OG,one of the frequently used azo dyes)with equilibrium in 300 min and the maximum adsorption capacity of 163.9 mg/*** adsorption mechanism of OG onto h-MIL-53(Fe)was mostly based on electrostatic attraction between CUS of hMIL-53(Fe)along with hP as active species to OG diffusion and *** comparing h-MIL-53(Fe)with other adsorbents for OG adsorption,it is undoubtedly that h-MIL-53(Fe)can be used as a promising adsorbent for OG removal from aqueous solutions.

Grain kernel discoloration(KD)in cereal crops leads to down-grading grain quality and substantial economic losses *** KD tolerant varieties requires a clear understanding of the genetic basis underlying this ***,we generated a high-density single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)map for a diverse barley germplasm and collected trait data from two independent field trials for five KD related traits:grain brightness(TL),redness(Ta),yellowness(Tb),black point impact(Tbpi),and total black point in percentage(Tbpt).Although grain brightness and black point is genetically correlated,the grain brightness traits(TL,Ta,and Tb)have significantly higher heritability than that of the black point traits(Tbpt and Tbpi),suggesting black point traits may be more susceptible to environmental *** genome-wide association studies(GWAS),we identified a total of 37 quantitative trait loci(QTL),including two major QTL hotspots on chromosomes 4h and 7h,*** two QTL hotspots are associated with all five KD *** genetic linkage and gene transcription analyses identified candidate genes for the grain KD,including several genes in the flavonoid pathway and plant *** study provides valuable insights into the genetic basis for the grain KD in barley and would greatly facilitate future breeding programs for improving grain KD resistance.

AIM: To investigate whether the enhanced green fluorescent protein(EGFP) reporter gene could be transferred into human trabecular meshwork(hTM) cells by a hIV-based lentivirus both in vitro and ex ***: The hIV-based lentivirus that contains an EF1-α promoter driving EGFP expression cassette was constructed following the standard molecular cloning methods. The cultured hTM cells were transduced at a range of multiplicity of infection(MOI) with hIV-based lentivirus. EGFP positive cell populations were detected by flow cytometry. human anterior eye segments were cultured with perfusion culture system and transfected by hIV-based lentivirus with a 1 ×108transducing unit(TU) virus in perfusion liquid. The intraocular pressure was recorded every 8h for 21 d. The expression of EGFP in the anterior segment of the human eye was detected by fluorescence microscopy. Furthermore, the distribution of EGFP expression was confirmed by anti-EGFP immunohistochemical ***: The hIV-based lentivirus which contains an EF1-α promoter driving EGFP expression cassette was constructed successfully. After hTM cells were transduced with hIV-based lentivirus containing EGFP in vitro, the ratio of EGFP positive cells to the total cell number reached 92.3%, with the MOI of 15. After the lentivirus containing EGFP were used to transduce human anterior eye segments, the EGFP could be directly detected by fluorescence microscopy in *** staining revealed that 88.19%EGFP-positive trabecular meshwork(TM) cells were observed in the human anterior segment. Nevertheless,the intraocular pressure in the lentivirus-transduced group kept constant when compared with control group(P >0.05).CONCLUSION: EGFP gene could be efficiently transferred into hTM cells both in vitro and ex vivo by using hIV-based lentivirus.

Prebiotics reveal positive effects on the growth performance of pigs and poultry,and might influence intestinal ***,in consequence,could alter recovery rates of digestibility *** the current study,we evaluated the suitability of chromium(III)oxide(Cr_2O_3)and the synthetic alkanes ndotriacontane(C32)and n-hexatriacontane(C36)as external markers for digestibility estimation compared with the standard total collection method in calves supplemented with *** male German holstein calves(average age±SD=57±8 days)were divided into 2 milk replacer feeding groups(group receiving galacto-oligosaccharides[A]and control group[B]).Each of 2 groups of 4 individually fed calves received a distinct milk replacer with added markers for *** were fed twice daily restrictively with milk replacer,concentrate and *** an adaptation period of 10 days,total faeces were *** marker recoveries(FMR,means±SD)for C32 were(72±14)% for A and (80±12)% for *** marker recoveries for C36 was(82±15)% and (88±13)% for groups A and B,*** FMR for Cr_2O_3was(102±11)%and(100±1)%for groups A and B,*** were no significant differences between total collection organic matter digestibility and marker based organic matter digestibility when using Cr_2O_3and ***,when utilizing C32 to calculate nutrient digestibilities,results differed from the total collection method for organic matter,crude protein and ether *** results indicate that Cr_2O_3and C36 can be applied in digestibility studies with calves and give accurate estimates for OM and nutrient digestibilities without correction for FMR.

Nanosized metal （Pt or Pd）-decorated TiO2 nanofibers （NFs） were synthesized by a wet impregnation method. CdSe quantum dots （QDs） were then anchored onto the metal-decorated TiO2 NFs. The photocatalytic performance of these catalysts was tested for activation and reduction of CO2 under UV-B light. Gas chromatographic analysis indicated the formation of methanol, formic acid, and methyl formate as the primary products. In the absence of CdSe QDs, Pd-decorated TiO2 NFs were found to exhibit enhanced performance compared to Pt-decorated TiO2 NFs for methanol production. however, in the presence of CdSe, Pt-decorated TiO2 NFs exhibited higher selectivity for methanol, typically producing -90 ppmg^-1.h^-1 methanol. The CO2 photoreduction mechanism is proposed to take place via a hydrogenation pathway from first principles calculations, which complement the experimental observations.

Background: Quantitative PCR (qPCR) can be used to detect and quantify a load of a pathogen. It is a good indicator of the degree of transmissibility. While performing routine qPCR, we observed an unusually short cycle threshold (Ct) value of SARS-CoV-2 for a clinical specimen obtained in Bamako, Mali. This prompted us to sequence the short-cycle SARS-CoV-2 sample to identify potential mutations in the Spike gene (S gene) gene. Methods: Post-infection, Quantitative Reverse Transcription (qRT-PCR) was performed over a defined time course to estimate the Ct of the SARS-CoV-2 specimen collected from the patient. Sanger sequencing was done on the entire fragment of the S gene to identify mutations. Findings: Sanger sequencing revealed mutations in the lineage of interest, designated B.1.525 by Pango, and also known as “Eta” using the nomenclature defined by WhO. This variant was originally found in Nigeria and Italy. The four novel mutations identified in Eta (D228N, Y451N, I1172M, and C1250F) were otherwise observed with a low frequency worldwide. Although the initial Ct was 10 in the case study patient, he did not exhibit severe symptoms of SARS-CoV-2, for example, pneumonia. however, we observed a longer viral clearance period than usual, of 3 weeks. We note that as compared to SARS-CoV-2 samples obtained during the first peaks of SARS-CoV-2 infection in Mali, when the infection was at its peak in March 2020 (Ct = 30.4), circulating strains evaluated at the time the Eta sample was obtained demonstrated a lower mean Ct (Ct = 24). Conclusions: The short cycle threshold associated with this variant, and the temporal association with a decrease in the mean Ct in the region of Bamako, may indicate higher levels of transmissibility due to a circulating variant. This variant is a lineage of interest designated B.1.525 by Pango or Eta by WhO.
