Carrier frequency of HLA-DQB1*02 allele in patients affected with celiac disease:A systematic review assessing the potential rationale of a targeted allelic genotyping as a first-line screening

BACKGROUND Celiac Disease(CD)is an immune-mediated disorder,in which the HLA immunogenetic background(DQ2 and DQ8 heterodimers)and environmental trigger(gluten)are well ***,both factors are necessary–but not sufficient–to develop ***,it is very likely that CD is underdiagnosed in both developing and developed countries,due to several aspects,including the fact that a lot of patients present mild and/or atypical symptoms,without the presence of any recognized risk ***,the possibility and feasibility of widened screening strategies to identify CD patients are *** To provide further evidence of the main epidemiological importance of HLADQB1*02 allele in the population of CD *** We performed a systematic search in PubMed,EMBASE,Cochrane,Web of Science and Scopus databases,in order to produce a systematic review assessing the carrier frequency of HLA-DQB1*02 allele in the celiac *** the PRISMA guidelines,we retrieved all the original articles describing CD patients’HLA-DQB1 genotype in such a way that could allow to assess the HLADQB1*02 carrier frequency among CD patients,along with the evidence of the appropriate diagnostic work-up to achieve a correct and final diagnosis of *** The final output of this systematic search in the medical literature consisted of 38 studies providing the appropriate HLA-DQB1 genotype information of the respective CD *** to this systematic review,including a pool of 4945 HLA-DQ genotyped CD patients,the HLA-DQB1*02 carrier frequency was 94.94%,meaning that only 5.06%of CD patients were completely lacking this allelic ***,if we consider only the studies whereby the prevalence of CD patients affected with type 1 diabetes mellitus was supposed or clearly established to be very low,the frequency of non-HLA-DQB1*02 carriers among CD patients dropped to 3.65%.CONCLUSION Such a high carrier frequency of the HLA-DQB1*02 allelic varian

This paper describes scientific research conducted to highlight the potential of an integrated GPR-UAV system in engineering-geological *** analysis focused on the stability of a natural scree slope in the Germanasca Valley,in the western Italian *** a consequence of its steep shape and the related geological hazard,the study used different remote sensed methodologies such as UAV photogrammetry and geophysics survey by a GPR-drone integrated ***,conventional in-situ surveys led to the collection of geological and geomorphological *** use of the UAV-mounted GPR allowed us to investigate the bedrock depth under the detrital slope deposit,using a non-invasive technique able to conduct surveys on inaccessible areas prone to hazardous conditions for *** collected evidence and the results of the analysis highlighted the stability of the slope with Factors of Safety,verified in static conditions(i.e.,natural static condition and static condition with snow cover),slightly above the stability limit value of *** the contrary,the dynamic loading conditions(i.e.,seismic action applied)showed a Factor of Safety below the stability limit *** UAV-mounted GPR represented an essential contribution to the surveys allowing the definition of the interface debris deposit-bedrock,which are useful to design the slope model and to evaluate the scree slope stability in different conditions.

Optically powered gas monitoring system using single-mode fibre for underground coal mines

We present an optically powered,intrinsically safe gas monitoring system to measure four essential environmental gases(CH_(4),CO_(2),CO and O_(2)),together with ambient temperature and pressure,for underground *** system is based on three key technologies developed at UNSW:(1)power-over-fbre(PoF)at 1550 nm using a single industry-standard,low-cost single-mode fbre(SMF)for both power delivery and information transmission,(2)liquid–crystal-based optical transducers for optical telemetry,and(3)ultra-low power consumption design of all ***,this approach allows each gas monitoring station to operate with less than 150 mW of optical power,meeting the intrinsic safety requirements specifed by the IEC60079-28 standard.A 2-month feld trial at BMA’s Broadmeadow underground mine proved the cabling compatibility to the mine’s existing optical network and the stability of the system *** with conventional electrically powered gas sensors,this technology bypasses the usual roadblocks of underground gas monitoring where electrical power is either unsafe or ***,using one fbre for both power delivery and communication enables longer distance coverage,reduces optical cabling and increases multiplexing possibilities and data throughput for better awareness of underground environment.

Although a vaccine against hepatitis B virus (HBV) has been available since 1982,the prevalence of adults with chronic HBV infection in sub-Saharan Africa and East Asia is still estimated at 5-10%.A high rate of chronic infections is also found in the Amazon and the southern parts of eastern and central *** the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent,the prevalence is 2-5%.Less than 1% of the population of Western Europe and North America is chronically *** the high prevalence of infections (such as hepatitis) among inmates,prison is considered a reservoir for facilitating such *** on these premises,this current review examines and discusses emerging trends in the epidemiology of HBV infection,with particular attention to HBV infection in *** hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) prevalence in prisoners in west and central Africa is very high (23.5%).The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has highlighted the importance of HBV blood screening and subsequent anti-HBV vaccination in the prison *** vaccination was recommended for all inmates,representing an opportunity to prevent HBV infection in a high-risk *** these subjects,an accelerated hepatitis B immunisation schedule may result in rapid seroconversion for early short-term ***,it is necessary to seek collaboration among public health officials,clinicians and correctional authorities to implement a vaccination programme.

AIM： To suspect laryngopharyngeal reflux（LPR） in patients with ocular surface disease（OSD）. Genetic and phenotypic analyses reveal major quantitative loci associated to fruit size and shape traits in a non-flat peach collection ( P. persica L. Batsch)

Fruit size and shape are critical agronomical and pomological attributes and prime targets in peach breeding *** from the flat peach type,a Mendelian trait well-characterized at the genetic level,ample diversity of fruit size and shapes is present across peach ***,knowledge of the underlying genomic loci remains *** this work,fruit size and shape were assessed in a collection of non-flat peach accessions and selections,under controlled fruit load *** architecture of these traits was then dissected by combining association and linkage mapping,revealing a major locus on the proximal end of chromosome 6(qSHL/Fs6.1)explaining a large proportion of phenotypic variability for longitudinal shape and also affecting fruit size.A second major locus for fruit longitudinal shape(qSHL5.1),probably also affecting fruit size,was found co-localizing at locus G,suggesting pleiotropic effects of peach/nectarine *** additional QTL for fruit longitudinal shape(qSHL6.2)was identi fied in the distal end of chromosome 6 in a cross with an ornamental double-flower peach and co-localized with the Di2 locus,controlling flower *** assisting breeding activities,knowledge of loci controlling fruit size and shape paves the way for more in-depth studies aimed at the identification of underlying genetic variant(s).
