Morphofunctional status and the role of mononuclear phagocyte system lung compartment in the pathogenesis of influenza A (H5N1) in mammals

Influenza and other respiratory v.ral infections account for 80%-90% of infectious pathologies. Influenza A (H5N1) v.rus has an apparent pneumotropism, and therefore the lung compartment of mononuclear phagocyte system plays an important role in antiv.ral immunity. Lung macrophages are activ. phagocytes expressing v.riety of antiv.ral factors. The inv.stigation of morphofunctional status of lung macrophages and ev.luation of their role in mammal antiv.ral response in a mouse model were performed within the study. Methods: Light microscopy using standard hematoxylin-eosin, and v.n-Gizon’s picrofuchsin staining. Immunohistochemistry using influenza A antigen marker specific primary antibodies, myeloperoxidase, cathepsin D, lysozyme, NO synthase, pro-inflammatory cytokines, cells of CD68 macrophage lineage, PCNA proliferativ. activ.ty. Morphometric and statistical analysis. Results: Influenza A v.rus antigen was detected in lung macrophages starting from day 1 to day 14 of infection which corresponds with the beginning of conv.lescence and may be suggestiv. of prolonged persistence of v.rus. On the one hand, the cytopathic effects of the v.rus lead to lung macrophages death mainly v.a apoptosis through activ.tion of caspase cascade, including caspase-3 and caspase-9. On the other hand, the observ.d activ.tion of PCNA proliferation marker, perhaps, allows to support the pool of lung macrophages not only by their recruitment from bone marrow but also by their proliferation in situ. The increase of mononuclear phagocyte system cells expressing antiv.ral factors depended on the stage of infection. In the early stage, there was an increase of number of cells expressing lysozyme, myeloperoxidase, cathepsin D, endothelial NO synthase (eNOS) followed by the increase of number of macrophages expressing inducible NO synthase (iNOS), pro-inflammatory cytokines and interleukins.

How the adoption of industry 4.0 technologies is related to participation in global and domestic v.lue chains: Ev.dence from Russia

This study explores the relationships among Industry 4.0 technologies, their application areas,and the inv.lv.ment of Russian manufacturing firms in global and domestic v.lue chains. Weapply logit and multinomial logit regressions using an original surv.y dataset of approximately1700 Russian manufacturing firms. We make a nov.l contribution to the literature by uncov.ringan asymmetry in adopting Industry 4.0 technologies among Russian industrial firms in domesticv.lue chains (Dv.s) and global v.lue chains (Gv.s). This asymmetry has the potential to impedeGv. localization and Dv. internationalization. Based on our results, software automation solu-tions are the only ones demonstrating statistical significance for firms participating simulta-neously in Gv.s, Dv.s, and both Gv.s and Dv.s. Companies in Dv.s demonstrate a broaderutilization of Industry 4.0 technologies across v.rious application areas. We also identify ev.denceof reshoring in Dv.s, indicating that Industry 4.0 adoption encourages firms to establish enduringrelationships with domestic suppliers. Highlighting that differences in technology adoption areinfluenced by external factors, including adherence to international standards and regulatoryprinciples, we propose policy implications for dev.loping countries. Recommendations encom-pass reducing entry barriers to Dv.s, improv.ng procurement transparency, and promotingcompetition in the digital solutions market to empower firms for seamless Gv. integration.

New reagents for immunofluorescence analysis of carbazole series containing fluorinated β-dicarbonyl fragments and carboxylic substituent groups separated by spacers of different lengths from the light-gathering carbazole scaffold hav. been dev.loped. The markers in complex with Eu3+ ions possess stability in the aqueous phase, intense and prolonged luminescence (τ 550 - 570 μs) with characteristic emission maxima in the region of 615 nm and excitation wav.lengths in the region of 380 - 390 nm, which distinguishes them from most of the analogs used. In the study of marker conjugation with streptav.din, a reagent containing 4 - 5 europium labeling complexes based on spacer-containing carbazole tetraketone was obtained. The marker-doped silicate nanoparticles exhibit intense and long-liv.d luminescence in the characteristic region.

We report on the nov.l heterometallic quaternary selenide EuCeCuSe3,the fabrication of which has been a challenge until this *** structure of the reported selenide was elucidated from the powder X-ray diffraction data,which rev.aled the formation of EuCeCuSe3with excellent yield(96.7%)accompanied with a minor fraction of CeSe2(3.3%),and was best solv.d in orthorhombic space group Pnma with the BaLaCuS3structural ***,the crystal structure of the title compound completes the row of the heterometallic quaternary selenides EuRECuSe3(RE=La,Pr,Nd,Sm,Eu,Gd,Tb,Dy,Ho,Er,Tm,Yb,Lu,Y),of which the cerium-based deriv.tiv. exclusiv.ly belongs to the BaLaCuS3structural *** distortion of the CuSe4polyhedron was compared for the whole series of EuRECuSe3compounds using theτ4-descriptor for four coordinated ions,which rev.aled the highest degree of distortion for the Ce3+-containing selenide,followed by the La3+-based ***,the crystallographic and geometrical parameters of the reported selenide were discussed in comparison to the Ce3+-based sulfides SrCeCuS3and *** initio calculations of the crystal structure,a phonon spectrum and elastic constants for the crystal of EuCeCuSe3were also *** types and wav.numbers of fundame ntal modes were determined and the inv.lv.ment of ions participating in the phonon modes was *** experimental IR spectrum of the reported selenide was interpreted and found to be in agreement with the calculated *** experimental direct band gap of EuCeCuSe3was measured to be 1.36 ev.that is consistent with the concept of its origin due to interband transitions between orbitals emerging mainly from 4f(v.lence band)and 5d(conduction band)lev.ls of the Eu2+*** dependence of the Young’s modulus on the direction demonstrates the anisotropy of the elastic properties,while the v.ckers hardness for EuCeCuSe3was calculated to be 5.2 ***,the title compound is paramagnetic abov. 4 K.

GM2 gangliosidoses are a group of autosomal-recessiv. lysosomal storage disorde *** diseases result from a deficiency of lysosomal enzymeβ-hexosaminidase A(HexA),which is responsible for GM2 ganglioside *** deficiency causes the accumulation of GM2-gangliosides mainly in the nerv.us system cells,leading to sev.re progressiv. neurodegeneration and *** date,there is no treatment for these ***-mediated gene therapy is considered a promising treatment for GM2 *** study aimed to ev.luate the ability of genetically modified mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs-HEXA-HEXB)to restore HexA deficiency in Tay-Sachs disease patient cells,as well as to analyze the functionality and biodistribution of MSCs in *** effectiv.ness of HexA deficiency cross-correction was shown in mutant MSCs upon intera ction with *** results also showed that the MSCs-HEXA-HEXB express the functionally activ.
