Evaluation and Prediction of Groundwater Quality in the municipality of Za-Kpota (South Benin) Using machine Learning and Remote Sensing

Accessing drinking water is a global issue. This study aims to contribute to the assessment of groundwater quality in the municipality of Za-Kpota (southern Benin) using remote sensing and machine Learning. The methodological approach used consisted in linking groundwater physico-chemical parameter data collected in the field and in the laboratory using AFNOR 1994 standardized methods to satellite data (Landsat) in order to sketch out a groundwater quality prediction model. The data was processed using QGis (Semi-Automatic Plugin: SCP) and Python (Jupyter Netebook: Prediction) softwares. The results of water analysis from the sampled wells and boreholes indicated that most of the water is acidic (pH varying between 5.59 and 7.83). The water was moderately mineralized, with conductivity values of less than 1500 μs/cm overall (59 µS/cm to 1344 µS/cm), with high concentrations of nitrates and phosphates in places. The dynamics of groundwater quality in the municipality of Za-Kpota between 2008 and 2022 are also marked by a regression in land use units (a regression in vegetation and marshland formation in favor of built-up areas, bare soil, crops and fallow land) revealed by the diachronic analysis of satellite images from 2008, 2013, 2018 and 2022. Surveys of local residents revealed the use of herbicides and pesticides in agricultural fields, which are the main drivers contributing to the groundwater quality deterioration observed in the study area. The results of the groundwater quality prediction models (ann, RF and LR) developed led to the conclusion that the model based on Artificial Neural Networks (ann: R2 = 0.97 and RmSE = 0) is the best for groundwater quality changes modelling in the Za-Kpota municipality.

ABSTRACT The peptidyl-prolyl isomerase Pinl is overexpressed in a variety of human cancers. Pinl might be a promising target for the development of highly specific inhibitors for clinical trials and eventual cancer ***,the role of Pinl in cancer cell metastasis is *** we showed that Pinl is highly expressed in 80%(32/40) of human lung squamous cell carcinoma patients,whereas a low expression of Pinl was detected in 22.2%(2/9) of normal lung tissues and 30%(3/10) of metastatic carcinoma *** of a wound-healing assay indicated that Pinl knockout cells(Pinl-/-) merged faster than Pinl wildtype cells(Pinl+/+).Interestingly, compared with the K1735 CIO nonmetastatic melanoma cell line,the highly metastatic K1735 m2 melanoma cell line,exhibited a low expression of Pinl. Furthermore,the invasive ability of K1735 m2 cells stably overexpressing Pinl was dramatically *** contrast,the invasive ability of K1735 CIO cells stably expressing the small interfering RNA(siRNA) of Pinl was greatly increased. moreover,our results indicated that Pinl interacted with focal adhesion kinase(FAK) in a phosphorylation-dependent manner and regulated FAK kinase *** dephosphorylation was detected in Pinl-/- cells but not in Pin 1 +/+ *** of Pinl inhibited the expression of paxillin and the metastatic suppressor protein,nm23-Hl, and was also associated with a high expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9(mmP- 9).Our results suggested that loss of Pinl promotes cancer cell mobility and plays an important role in cell migration and invasion mediated by dephosphorylation of FAK. These findings not only uncovered novel mechanisms regarding tumor cell metastasis and regulation of FAK activity,but also suggested the danger of promoting tumor cell mobility by inhibition of Pin 1.

There is a link between high lipopolysaccharide(LPS)levels in the blood and the metabolic syndrome,and metabolic syndrome predisposes patients to severe ***,we define an interaction between SARS-CoV-2 spike(S)protein and LPS,leading to aggravated inflammation in vitro and in *** gel electrophoresis demonstrated that SARS-CoV-2 S protein binds to *** thermophoresis yielded a of〜47 nm for the *** modeling and all-atom molecular dynamics simulations further substantiated the experimental results,identifying a main LPS-binding site in SARS-CoV-2 S protein.S protein,when combined with low levels of LPS,boosted nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-k B)activation in monocytic THP-1 cells and cytokine responses in human blood and peripheral blood mononuclear cells,*** in vitro inflammatory response was further validated by employing NF-kB reporter mice and in vivo *** light scattering,transmission electron microscopy,and LPS-FITC analyses demonstrated that S protein modulated the aggregation state of LPS,providing a molecular explanation for the observed boosting *** together,our results provide an interesting molecular link between excessive inflammation during infection with SARS-CoV-2 and comorbidities involving increased levels of bacterial endotoxins.

The increasing pace of urbanization means that cities and global organizations are looking for ways to increase energy efficiency and reduce emissions. Combined cooling, heating, and power （CCHP） systems have the potential to improve the energy generation efficiency of a city or urban region by providing energy for heating, cooling, and electricity simultaneously. The purpose of this study is to estimate the water consumption for energy generation use, carbon dioxide （CO2） and NOx emissions, and economic impact of implementing CCHP systems for five generic building types within the Atlanta metropolitan region, under various operational scenarios following the building thermal （heating and cooling） demands. Operating the CCHP system to follow the hourly thermal demand reduces CO2 emissions for most building types both with and without net metering. The system can be economically beneficial for all building types depending on the price of natural gas, the implementation of net metering, and the cost structure assumed for the CCHP system. The greatest reduction in water consumption for energy production and NOx emissions occurs when there is net metering and when the system is operated to meet the maximum yearly thermal demand, although this scenario also results in an increase in greenhouse gas emissions and, in some cases, cost. CCHP systems are more economical for medium office, large office, and multifamilv residential buildings.

Saffron (Crocus sativus L.) and major depressive disorder:a meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials

Due to safety concerns and side effects of many antidepressant medications, herbal psychopharmacology research has increased, and herbal remedies are becoming increasingly popular as alternatives to prescribed medications for the treatment of major depressive disorder （mDD）. Of these, accumulating trials reveal positive effects of the spice saffron （Crocus sativus L.） for the treatment of depression. A comprehensive and statistical review of the clinical trials examining the effects of saffron for treatment of mDD is warranted. OBJECTIVE： The purpose of this study was to conduct a meta-analysis of published randomized controlled trials examining the effects of saffron supplementation on symptoms of depression among participants with mDD. SEARCH STRATEGY： We conducted electronic and non-electronic searches to identify all relevant randomized, double-blind controlled trials. Reference lists of all retrieved articles were searched for relevant studies. INCLUSION CRITERIA： The criteria for study selection included the following：（1） adults （aged 18 and older） with symptoms of depression, （2） randomized controlled trial, （3） effects of saffron supplementation on depressive symptoms examined, and （4） study had either a placebo control or antidepressant comparison group. DATA EXTRACTION AND ANALYSIS： Using random effects modeling procedures, we calculated weighted mean effect sizes separately for the saffron supplementation vs placebo control groups, and for the saffron supplementation vs antidepressant groups. The methodological quality of all studies was assessed using the Jadad score. The computer software Comprehensive meta- analysis 2 was used to analyze the data. RESULTS： Based on our pre-specified criteria, five randomized controlled trials （n = 2 placebo controlled trials, n = 3 antidepressant controlled trials） were included in our review.
