Fruit qual.ty traits pl.y a significant rol. in consumer preferences and consumption in bl.eberry(Vaccinium corymbosum l..The objectives of this study were to construct a high-density l.nkage map and to identify the underl.ing genetic basis of fruit qual.ty traits in bl.eberry.A total.of 287 F_(1) individual. derived from a cross between two southern highbush bl.eberry cul.ivars,‘Reveil.e’and‘Arl.n’,were phenotyped over three years(2016–2018)for fruit qual.ty-rel.ted traits,incl.ding titratabl. acidity,pH,total.sol.bl. sol.ds,and fruit weight.A high-density l.nkage map was constructed using 17k singl. nucl.otide pol.morphisms *** l.nkage map spanned a total.of 1397 cM with an average inter-l.ci distance of 0.08 *** quantitative trait l.ci interval.mapping based on the hidden Markov model.identified 18 l.ci for fruit qual.ty traits,incl.ding seven l.ci for fruit weight,three l.ci for titratabl. acidity,five l.ci for pH,and three l.ci for total.sol.bl. *** of these l.ci were detected in more than one *** l.ci expl.ined phenotypic variance ranging from 7 to 28% for titratabl. acidity and total.sol.bl. sol.d,and 8-13% for ***,the l.ci identified for fruit weight did not expl.in more than 10%of the phenotypic *** al.o reported the association between fruit qual.ty traits and metabol.tes detected by Proton nucl.ar magnetic resonance anal.sis directl. responsibl. for these fruit qual.ty *** acids,citric acid,and quinic acid were significantl.(Pl. correl.ted with titratabl. *** mol.cul.s showed a strong and positive correl.tion with total.sol.bl. ***,the study dissected the genetic basis of fruit qual.ty traits and establ.shed an association between these fruit qual.ty traits and metabol.tes.

Ehl.rs-Danl.s syndrome (EDS) is a group of inherited connective tissue disorders caused by col.agen synthesis defects. EDS type Ⅳ, or vascul.r EDS, is caused by l.ss-of-function mutations in the type Ⅲ pro-col.agen gene (COl.A1 ). Common compl.cations of EDS type IV incl.de gastrointestinal.bl.eding and bowel.perforations, posing diagnostic and therapeutic dil.mmas for both surgeons and gastroenterol.gists. Here, we describe a compl.cated case of EDS type Ⅳ in a 35-year-ol. caucasian femal. who presented with overt gastro-intestinal.bl.eding. The patient had a prior history of spontaneous col.nic perforation, and an uncompl.cated upper endoscopy was performed. A careful.il.oscopy was terminated earl. due to tachycardia and severe ab-dominal.pain, and a subsequent computed tomography scan confirmed the diagnosis of il.al.perforation. The patient was managed conservativel., and demonstrated dail. improvement. At the time of hospital.discharge, no further episodes of gastrointestinal.bl.od l.ss had occurred. This case highl.ghts the benefit of conservative management for EDS patients with gastrointestinal.hemorrhage. It is recommended that surgical.treatmentshoul. be reserved for patients who fail.conservative treatment or in cases of hemodynamic instabil.ty. Final.y, this case demonstrates the necessity for a higher threshol. of operative or endoscopic interventions in EDS type Ⅳ patients.

Pl.gs are crucial.for initiating crop production in greenhouses, soil. and control.ed environment agricul.ure (CEA). Vegetabl., fruiting, ornamental. and other horticul.ural.crops that util.ze pl.gs for production have demonstrated superior transpl.nt establ.shment rate, pl.nt heal.h, and total.yiel.. The APS l.boratory for Sustainabl. Food at Fl.rida Gul. Coast University investigated the qual.ty of pl.gs grown based on different concentrations and fertigation sources using synthetic and organic sources. We carried out the growth of “Rex Butterhead” l.ttuce (l.tuca sativa) pl.gs with five different fertigation treatments, 1) ful.-strength synthetic starter fertil.zer sol.tion;2) hal.-strength synthetic starter fertil.zer sol.tion;3) ful.-strength organic starter fertil.zer sol.tion;4) hal.-strength organic starter fertil.zer sol.tion, and 5) no fertil.zer for control. Fertil.zer treatments were formul.ted fol.owing manufacturer recommendations. The seeds were sown in Oasis® Horticubes and saturated every day with the different fertil.zer treatments. The pl.gs were cul.ivated for 15 days in a control.ed environment until.two l.aves after the cotyl.dons had devel.ped. After 15 days, we col.ected data which incl.ded wet weight (g), dry weight (g), l.af area (cm2), and chl.rophyl. concentration (mg/cm2). In addition, we derived data incl.ding the l.af Area Index (l.I, cm2/cm2) and Specific l.af Area (Sl., cm2/g). Descriptive statistics were used to describe the biomass data. A Tukey’s HSD test was carried out to understand the differences between the fertil.zer sources. We determined there was a statistical.y significant difference (P = 7.34E−29) in the measured pl.g growth parameters due to the various fertigation sources. Wil.iam R. Downs, Ⅲ, known as Dong Weil.n to many friends, died a rel.tivel. young man ( 1950 ～ 2002) at the height of his career in *** career began at the Museum of Northern Arizona in 1975. One of his earl. tasks was the preparation of Triassic cynodonts from Antarctica for Edwin ***, then Curator Emeritus of the American Museum of Natural.History and Curator of Vertebrate Pal.ontol.gy at the Museum of Northern Arizona (Col.ert and Kitching, 1977). Wil. prepared the Earl. Jurassic armored ornithischian Scutel.osaurus for Col.ert (1981), and he col.ected and prepared a skul. of Pentaceratops from the Cretaceous of the San Juan Basin (Rowe et al., 1981 ).One of his earl. ventures into screen-washing was near the Pentaceratops site in the San Juan Basin (Fl.nn, 1986) where mammal. were poorl. represented. In the mid-1980' s, Wil. l.ft the Museum of Northern Arizona to become affil.ated with Northern Arizona University, al.o in Fl.gstaff. The rel.tionship between the growth and nutrient uptake by perennial.crop such as pepper is poorl. understood and improved understanding of such rel.tionship is important for the establ.shment of rational.crop management practices. In order to characterize the growth performance and quantify the nutrient removed, this study presents resul.s of three consecutive cropping years, fertil.zed with 1, 2 and 3 ton ha1 of NPK fertil.zer respectivel.. Pl.nt biomass accumul.ted was eval.ated every two months, separating pl.nt into stems, branches, l.aves, berries, fruit spikes and fl.wers. Total.biomass of pepper increased l.nearl. and reach maximum at 22 months after pl.nting. Thereafter, a decrease in dry matter was observed due to fruit export and fal.en l.aves at harvest. However, at the 28 months of pl.nting, the biomass of pepper vine showing some increasing trend indicating the vegetative growth was reassumed for the next fl.wering. At 30 months, the pepper had removed 293.08 kg of nitrogen, 46.41 kg of phosphorus, 264.95 kg of potassium, 35.4 kg of magnesium and 74.82 kg of cal.ium. Based on data obtained, the nutrient uptake rates were l.wer than nutrient appl.ed suggested that fertil.zer had been overused for pepper production. In l.ght of these resul.s obtained, the optimum fertil.zer dosage woul. be 62-10-62-6-18 kg/ha, 237-22-246-22-65 kg/ha and 390-62-352-47-100 kg/ha of N-P-K-Mg-Ca for the year 1, year 2 and year 3 of cropping year.
