We have evaluated and compared the effectiveness of diode laser system (808 nm) and Intense Pulse Light (IPL) system (690 - 1200 nm) by studying the change in hair density, and the time of regrowth the hair. A total of 26 have completed three months’ treatment, aged 16 - 50 years. Patients were treated by diode laser 808 nm and IPL 690 - 1200 nm devices. Pulse repetition rate for both was 1 Hz.and short pulse width for diode laser and the IPL pulse width was 15 ms. The fluence was (33 - 41 and 30 - 41) J/cm2 respectively. A split face treatment method was used. The treatment was carried out on monthly bases for three months. Hair density and regrowth duration were recorded before and after each session. After the third session, the hair density was decreased by (58%) for diode laser versus (49%) for IPL p = 0.366. The time of hair regrowth was increased to (327%) for diode laser versus IPL (339%) p = 0.821. Pain appeared more during the treatment with IPL than with diode laser. Post treatment side effects such as erythema, hyper pigmentation, and burn appeared on patients treated with diode laser more than those treated with IPL. In conclusion both diode laser and IPL were effective in reduction of hair density, and prolongation of the time of hair regrowth.

Diabetes (DM) and hypertension (HT) cause changes in cardiac performance. Long-term diabetes and hypertension can lead to changes in cardiac contractility, reduced left ventricular efficiency and heart failure. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of the coexistence of diabetes mellitus and hypertension on left ventricular myocardial performance and structural changes. The study involved 45 patients with essential hypertension and type 2 diabetes (14 males and 31 females, their mean age was 53.28 ± 13.28 years), and 45 healthy subjects (10 males and 35 females, their mean age was 48.11 ± 13.07 years) as a control group. Transthoracic echocardiography was done for all patients. The echocardiographic measurements included: left ventricle internal diameter at end diastole (LVIDd), left ventricle internal diameter at end systole (LVIDs), peak velocity of early transmitral flow (E), peak velocity of late transmitral flow (A), ejection fraction (EF%), isovolumic relaxation time (IVrT), isovolumic contraction time (IVCT) and ejection time (ET) from which the index of myocardial performance (IMP) was calculated. results revealed a significant change in the ratio (E/A) between patients and controls (-32.45%) with p value p value 0.05. In conclusion, diabetic patients with hypertension had an increase in IMP and reduced E/A indicating deterioration in cardiac performance despite normal ejection fraction and insignificant change in LV dimensions.

We describe the effects of plane surface on the photo-detached electron spectra from H^(-)_(2).A z.polariz.d laser is used for the detachment of *** detached electron flux and photodetachment cross section are *** exists strong dependence on the distance of the H^(-)_(2) from the surface and also on the separation of atomic centers of H^(-)_(2).The results show strong oscillations for smaller values of distances,whereas for larger values the oscillating structure disappears.

Ciliates in the class Prostomatea play an important role in the global microbial loop due to their signifcant abundances and broad feeding strategies at the foundation of food *** their importance in ecosystems,the taxonomy and systematics of this group of ciliates has long been poorly understood,with this being especially true for members of the family *** we examine four lagynusids collected from sandy beaches in China,using silver-staining and 18S rrNA gene sequencing *** investigations revealed two new genera and two new species and provided details for two little known forms:Penardella marina ***.,***.,Apolagynus cucumis(as reported by Penard.Études sur les infusoires d’eau *** and Cie,Genève,1922)***.,***.,Lagynus minutus ***.,and Lagynus elegans(Engelmann in z.Wiss z.ol 11:347-393,1862)Quennerstedt(Acta Univ Lund 4:1-48,1867).Penardella *** be morphologically distinguished by having more than three dikinetidal perioral *** *** from the closely related genus Lagynus in the absence of a conspicuous neck-like *** ciliature of Apolagynus cucumis is revealed here for the frst time,which demonstrates the classifcation of this species within ***,Apolagynus binucleatus(Jiang et al.,2021)*** established according to the new *** results of our phylogenetic analyses based on the 18S rrNA gene support the establishment of two new genera and indicate that Lagynusidae is monophyletic,which further strengthens its valid taxonomic status.

To gain insight into the genetic regulation of lipid metabolism in tomato, we conducted metabolic trait loci （mQTL） analysis following the lipidomic profiling of fruit pericarp and leaf tissue of the Solanum pennellii introgression lines （IL）. To enhance mapping resolution for selected fruit-specific mQTL, we profiled the lipids in a subset of independently derived S. pennellii backcross inbred lines, as well as in a nearsogenic sub-iL population. We identified a putative lecithin：cholesterol acyltransferase that controls the levels of several lipids, and two members of the class III lipase family, LIP1 and LIP2, that were associated with decreased levels of diacylglycerols （DAGs） and triacylglycerols （TAGs）. Lipases of this class cleave fatty acids from the glycerol backbone of acylglycerols. The released fatty acids serve as precursors of flavor volatiles. We show that LIP1 expression correlates with fatty acid-derived volatile levels. We further confirm the function of LIP1 in TAG and DAG breakdown and volatile synthesis using transgenic plants. Taken together, our study extensively characteriz.d the genetic architecture of Upophilic compounds in tomato and demonstrated at molecular level that release of free fatty acids from the glycerol backbone can have a major impact on downstream volatile synthesis.

Biochemical and radiological predictors of malignant biliary strictures

AIM: Differentiation of benign biliary strictures (BBS) from malignant biliary strictures (MBS) remains difficult despite improvement in imaging and endoscopic techniques. The aim of this study was to identify the clinical, biochemical and or radiological predictors of malignant biliary ***: We retrospectively reviewed all charts of patients who had biliary strictures (BS) on endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ErCP) or percutaneous cholangiography (PTC) in case of unsuccessful ErCP from March 1998 to August 2002. Patient characteristics, clinical features, biochemical, radiological and biopsy results were all recorded. Stricture etiology was determined based on cytology,biopsy or clinical follow-up. A receiver operator characteristic (rOC) curve was constructed to determine the optimal laboratory diagnostic criterion threshold in predicting ***: One hundred twenty six patients with biliary strictures were enrolled, of which 72 were malignant. The mean age for BBS was 53 years compared to 62.4 years for MBS (P=0.0006). Distal bile duct stricture was mainly due to a malignant process 48.6% vs 9% (P=0.001). Alkaline phosphates and AST levels were more significantly elevated in MBS (P=0.0002). rOC curve showed that a bilirubin level of 84 μmol/L or more was the most predictive of MBS with a sensitivity of 98.6%, specificity of 59.3% and a positive likelihood ratio of 2.42 (95% CI=0.649-0.810). Proximal biliary dilatation was more frequently encountered in MBS compared to BBS, 73.8% vs39.5% (P=0.0001). Majority of BBS (87%) and MBS (78%) were managed ***: A serum bilirubin level of 84 μmol/L or greater is the best predictor of MBS. Older age, proximal biliary dilatation, higher levels of bilirubin, alkaline phosphatase, ALT and AST are all associated with MBS. ErCP is necessary to diagnose and treat benign and malignant biliary strictures.

The Patterns of Blood Groups and Its Association with Blood Donation in Saudi Arabia

Background: Blood groups system has key importance for transfusion safety and clinical practice. Therefore, the objective of the present study was to evaluate the distribution of ABO blood groups and its association with blood donation in Saudi Arabia. Methodology: In this study, we collected information regarding blood donation from 715 Saudi volunteers living in the city of Hail, Northern Saudi Arabia. Data about blood donation were obtained from 715 Saudi volunteers living in the city of Hail. results: The majority of the study population was found with group B+ representing 174 participants, followed by A+, O+, AB+, B-ve, A-ve, AB-ve and O-ve, representing 165, 153, 47, 29, 20, 9, and 7 participants, in this order. Conclusion: The major blood group among Saudi population is group B+ followed by group A+ and O+. Individuals with rare blood groups were less likely to participate in blood donation programs, which necessitate the need for educational programs using motivating factors.
