Background The impact of changing land-use patterns and associated anthropogenic threats on scale-dependent habitat use of semi-aquatic mustelids in scent-marking and social behaviour can provide important insights into the habitat ecology of smooth-coated otters(Lutrogale perspicillata).Methods We sampled 180 stream segments(100–400 m) as spatial replicates of 60 1-km2 sites to record indirect evidence(i.e. spraints and mass latrine sites) and group sizes of smooth-coated otters along the Tungabhadra Otter Conservation Reserve(TOCR) during the dry season. To quantify habitat, we recorded stream characteristics, riparian vegetation, and anthropogenic disturbances at the local scale, and hydro-environmental characteristics and land uses at the landscape scale. Using Markovian-chain detection and occupancy models, we assessed the multi-scale habitat use of otters in their selection of suitable areas for scent-marking based on repeated presence-absence data on spraint/latrine locations along the TOCR. We further used linear regression techniques to explore relationships between the number of individuals in smooth-coated otter group and hydro-environmental characteristics, spraint/latrine encounter rate, anthropogenic pressure, land cover, topography, and *** At the local scale, the probability of spraint deposition and group size decreased with anthropogenic disturbance while the probability of spraint detections decreased with grass cover. At the landscape scale, the probability of otter site use for spraint deposition and group sizes increased in southeast flowing streams. Objective:To prepare naringenin herbosome and evaluate its antidiabetic ***:Herbosomes were prepared by the solvent evaporation *** vitro parameters like particle size,polydispersity index,zeta potential,and entrapment efficiency were estimated and in vitro diffusion study was *** in vivo studies were also performed in streptozotocin-induced diabetic male Sprague Dawley rats to evaluate blood glucose,total cholesterol,triglyceride,blood urea nitrogen,total protein,albumin level,aspartate aminotransferase,and alanine aminotransferase ***:The optimized herbosome batch showed a particle size of 564.4 nm,a polydispersity index of 0.412,and zeta potential of−39.3 *** percentage entrapment of this formulation was 84.04%,with complete drug release within 8 *** of diabetic rats with naringenin herbosomes for 28 d significantly reduced the elevated level of plasma glucose as compared to plain *** biochemical parameters,the treatment showed a significant decrease in total cholesterol,triglyceride,and blood urea nitrogen;while elevated levels of aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase were returned to *** naringenin and herbosome formulation at high dose increased the total protein whereas albumin level significantly increased in naringenin herbosomes at the highest dose but not in the pure naringenin treatment ***:Naringenin herbosomes could improve the metabolic profile of diabetic rats,indicating enhanced antidiabetic activity of herbosome formulation.

Genus Prunus comprising around 430 species is a vast important genus of family Rosaceae, subfamily amygdalaoidae. Among all 430 species, around 19 important species are commonly found in Indian subcontinent due to their broad nutritional and economic importance. Some most common species of genus Prunus are Prunus amygdalus, Prunus persica, Prunus armeniaca, Prunus avium, Prunus cerasus, Prunus cerasoides, Prunus domestica, Prunus mahaleb, etc. A newly introduced species of Prunus i.e Prunus sunhangii is recently discovered which is morphologically very similar to Prunus cerasoides. Plants of Prunus species are short to medium-sized deciduous trees mainly found in the northern hemisphere. In India and its subcontinent,it extends from the Himalayas to Sikkim, Meghalaya,Bhutan, Myanmar etc. Different Prunus species have been extensively studied for their morphological,microscopic, pharmacological and phytoconstituents characteristics. Total phenolic content of Prunus species explains the presence of phenols in high quantity and pharmacological activity due to phenols. Phytochemical screening of species of genus Prunus shows the presence of wide phytoconstituents which contributes in their pharmacological significance and reveals the therapeutic potential and traditional medicinal significance of this genus. Genus Prunus showed a potent antioxidant activity analyzed by 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl radical assay. Plant species belonging to the genus Prunus is widely used traditionally for the treatment of various disorders. Some specific Prunus species possess potent anticancer, anti-inflammatory,hypoglycemic etc. activity which makes the genus more interesting for further research and findings. This review is an attempt to summarize the comprehensive study of Prunus species from its distribution, morphological characters to phytoconstituents, and pharmacological activity.

In the past few decades,numerous studies have been conducted to promote the use of biochar as a soil amendment and most recently,for compacted geo-engineered *** general,the definite trends of biochar effects on water retention and fertility of soils have been ***,the biochar effects on hydraulic conductivity,particularly unsaturated hydraulic conductivity of soil-biochar mix remain unclear,making it difficult to understand water seepage in both agricultural and geo-engineered infrastructures in semi-arid *** study examines the unsaturated hydraulic conductivity function derived based on the measurements of soil water characteristic curves of soil with biochar contents of 0%,5%and 10%.A new parameter“biochar conductivity factor(BCF)”is proposed to evaluate the inconsistency in reported biochar effects on soil hydraulic conductivity and to interpret it from various mechanisms(inter-and intra-pore space filling,cracking,aggregation,bio-film formation and piping/internal erosion).The impact of biochar content on unsaturated hydraulic conductivity appears to reduce as the soil becomes drier with minimal effect in residual *** comparison of near-saturated hydraulic conductivity with test results in the literature showed that the BCF is generally higher for smaller ratio of sand to fine content(clay and silt).Moreover,the particle size of biochar may have significant influence on soil *** scope of research has been highlighted with respect to biochar production for its applications in agriculture and geo-environmental *** term effects such as root decay and growth,aggregation and nutrient supply need to be considered.

Objectives:This study is aimed to determine the impact of liver disease severity on the outcome of patients undergoing endourological procedures for urolithiasis,and to understand the factors that are helpful in improving the *** and methods:We retrospectively analyzed the records of patients with chronic liver disease who underwent endourological procedures between January 2014 and February *** records and charts were assessed for age,sex,height,weight,body mass index,model for end-stage liver disease(MELD)score,Child-Turcotte-Pugh score,type of procedure and anesthesia,intensive care unit(ICU)stay,duration of hospitalization,number,size,and position of stones,and postoperative complications such as hematuria,sepsis,and secondary *** are presented as mean±standard deviation or *** chi-square test was applied to determine the exact association between categorical data and Student t-test or Mann-Whitney U test as appropriate for continuous *** significance was set at p<***:Hospital and ICU stay as well as administration of different blood products were significantly longer in the Child C than in the Child A and B categories(p<0.001).Two patients in the Child C category died,while 3 left the hospital against medical *** duration of ICU stay and blood products administered increased with augmenting MELD *** durations of hospitalization and blood product administration were significantly higher in patients with an MELD score≥20 than in the group with MELD score<***:Hospital and ICU stay and blood product administration were significantly higher in Child C than in Child A and B class *** duration and blood product administration were significantly higher in patients with an MELD score≥20.
