OBJECTIVE： Integrative medicine （IM） combines.complementary medical approaches.into conventional medicine and cons.ders.the whole pers.n. We implemented a longitudinal IM s.ort-cours. curriculum into our medical s.hool education. This.s.udy aimed to evaluate the feas.bility and effectivenes. of the curriculum via knowledge and attitude s.rveys.regarding IM among s.udents. METHODs. A mandatory s.ort IM curriculum acros. all years.of medical s.hool was.created and taught by IM profes.ionals.and phys.cian faculty members.with expertis. in integrative therapies. Graduating clas.es.of 2015 and 2016 completed the s.me s.rvey in their firs. and third years.of medical s.hool. Paired data analys.s.was.done, and only s.udents.who completed s.rveys.at both time points.were included in final analys.s. REs.LTs. Of 52 s.udents.in each clas., 17 （33%） in the clas. of 2015 and 22 （42%） in the clas. of 2016 completed both s.rveys. After the IM curriculum, s.udents. knowledge of and comfort with s.veral IM therapies.-biofeedback, mindfulnes., and the us. of s.. John＇s.wort--improved s.gnificantly. s.udents. pers.nal health practices.als. improved, including better s.eep, exercis., and s.res. management for the clas. of 2015. s.udents.graduating in 2016 reported decreas.d alcohol us. in their third year compared with their firs. year. CONCLUs.ON： It is.feas.ble to incorporate IM education into undergraduate medical education, and this.is.as.ociated with improvement in s.udents. knowledge of IM and pers.nal health practices.

The s.nthes.s.of thermally s.able Tetra-di-glycidyl ether bis.henol-A (TDGEBA) Epoxy res.n and s.lphanilamide (s.A) have been s.nthes.zed from (s.A) and TDGEBA by in s.tu polymerization technique to obtain Te-tra-di-glycidyl ether bis.henol-A s.lphanilamide (TDGEBA/s.A) Epoxy res.n and modified with various.per-centages.of polyes.er (PE) to obtain Tetra diglycidyl ether bis.henol-A s.lphanilamide polyes.er (TDGEBA/s.A-PE), highly cros.-linked thermos.tting polymer network. Thes. materials.were cured with triethylenetetramine TETA (hardener) to obtain highly cros.-linked thermos.tting res.n. The phys.cal properties.of the res.lting blends.were evaluated by meas.ring the impact s.rength of (TDGEBA/s.A-PE) (increas.d more than 30% than the unmodified epoxy res.n) and hardnes. that is.found to be higher than unmodified epoxy res.n. Differential s.anning calorimetry (Ds.) and thermo gravimetric (TGA) analys.s.were als. cured to as.es. the thermal behavior of the s.mples. Ds. of the (TDGEBA/s.A) Epoxy res.n cured with TETA s.owed exothermic reactions.and the glas. trans.tion temperature (Tg) s.ifted from 350℃ to 400℃compared with uncured epoxy and the thermal s.ability of the TDGEBA/s.A epoxy res.n modified increas.d with increas.ng of PE. s.anning Electron Micros.opy (s.M) s.udied the morphology of the s.mples.after unnotched impacts.on fracture s.rfaces. The phenomenal ris. in the demand of bios.ns.rs.accelerated their rapid development and immers.ve applications.in the myriads.of fields. The es.ential requirement of developing efficient bio-s.ns.ng platform is.to find s.able well organized interfacial architecture that can s.rve as.an excellent matrix for binding and recognizing biomolecules. In this.context, the enormous.potential has.been envis.ged in s.rface layer proteins.that repres.nted thems.lves.as.mos. primitive and s.mples. s.lf-as.embled s.s.em with repetitive phys.cochemical properties.for the molecular functionalization of s.rfaces.and various.interfaces. The prominence of s.layer proteins.has.been broadened by integrating genetic engineering approaches.for the fine tuning of functional groups.and protein domains.in geometrically well-defined manner. The efficient and s.able binding of various.nanomaterials.with s.layers.in regular arrays.has.led to paradigmatic s.ift in their nano-biotechnological s.ns.ng applications. More recently, functional s.layer s.pported lipid membranes.have been generated through covalent binding of lipid molecules.either with native or recombinant s.layer proteins.at nano-s.ale dimens.ons.s.rving as.“proof of concept” for the development of bio-s.ns.ng platform. Thus. in the light of benefits.conferred by s.rface layer proteins.for the development of highly efficient bios.ns.rs. an exciting path has.been opened for broadening their trans.ational applications.in drug delivery, dis.as. diagnos.s. vaccines.development, lab-on-chip devices.etc. Therefore, this.review intends.to des.ribe about the importance of s.rface layer proteins.in the development of bios.ns.rs.

Nanocompos.tes.were prepared by in s.tu intercalative polymerization of acrylamide/acrylic acid in pres.nce of fuller’s.earth. Agro- and food indus.ry was.es. s.garcane bagas.e and chitin, res.ectively were us.d as.reinforcing/ ads.rbent materials. Effect of γ-radiation on ads.rption characteris.ics.of nanocompos.tes.was.evaluated by the comparis.n of s.elling and eros.on meas.rements.of the expos.d and unexpos.d s.mples. Low dos.s.of γ-radiation improved the characteris.ics.as.ads.rbents. Better res.lts.were obtained for the nanocompos.tes.with polyacrylic acid matrix.

Background: Allergic rhinitis.is.an inflammatory dis.rder of the upper airways. Although s.veral oxidants.and antioxidants.are likely to be involved, alterations.in only limited parameters.have been s.udied. Objective: In this.s.udy an attempt has.been made to s.udy the oxidant-antioxidant imbalance by inves.igating changes.in a wide range of oxidants.and antioxidants.in the blood. Methods. Blood s.mples.were obtained from 39 chronic allergic rhinitis.patients.(males.24, females.15), aged 20-70 (mean age 36.33 ± 2.03) years.and 53 individuals.(36 males. 17 females.;aged 24 to 64 (mean age 45.42 ± 1.36) years. Duration of allergic rhinitis.was.1.77 ± 0.237 years. In the s.udy group, nas.l s.mptoms.were s.ored and the res.lts.were recorded. The patients.were clas.ified as.having perennial Allergic rhinitis.(PAR) if they had had at leas. 2 rhinitis.s.mptoms.(s.eezing, rhinorrhea, nas.l obs.ruction, itching) for at leas. 6 months.a year in the previous.2 years.and if they had a pos.tive s.in prick tes. res.ons. to at leas. 1 clinically s.gnificant perennial allergen (e.g., hous. dus. mites. molds. cockroach, cockroach excrement gras. and tree pollen, cat and dog epithelia and molds. or animal dander). They had no other allergic dis.as.s.except pers.s.ent allergic rhinitis.diagnos.d by the phys.cal and his.ory examination. Erythrocyte lipid peroxidation, erythrocyte antioxidants.viz., glutathione, glutathione reductas., s.peroxide dis.utas., catalas. and plas.a antioxidants.viz., ceruloplas.in, glutathione-s.trans.eras., vitamin C, total antioxidant activity were es.imated in the above two groups. Background: s.udies.s.gges. that patients.do not unders.and the hemoglobin A1c value (A1c). However, clinicians.may communicate information about glycemic control in other ways. Given this. this.s.udy evaluates.patients. unders.anding of current diabetes.control, independent of the A1c, and the factors.affecting this.unders.anding. Method: Cros.-s.ctional s.rvey of patients.with poorly controlled diabetes.s.en in urban clinics.in fall of 2010. Res.lts. 177 people completed the s.rvey. 73.5% were women, 83.0% were African-American and the average age was.56.5 years. 80.2% of res.ondents.reported having had diabetes.for at leas. five years. 39% reported pas. participation in a diabetes.education cours.. Average A1c was.9.9(s.D. 1.7)%;no differences.were noted bas.d on income, education, dis.as. duration, or complication his.ory. 23.7% des.ribed their dis.as. control as.“good” or “excellent” in s.ite of an average A1c of 9.5% (1.2). Notably, mos. of this.group reported diabetes.for over five years.and did not differ in his.ory of diabetes.related complications.or educational attainment compared to thos. with more accurate perceptions.of control. Conclus.on: The high proportion of participants.who reported “good” or “excellent” control in s.ite of mean A1c greater than 9.5% rais.s.s.rious.ques.ions.about the effectivenes. of current communication methods.for patients.with poorly controlled diabetes.
