Induced systemic resistance(ISR)is a mechanism by which certain plant beneficial rhizobacteria and fungi produce immunity,which can stimulate crop growth and resilience against various phytopathogens,insects,and *** beneficial rhizobacteria and fungi improve plant performance by regulating hormone signaling,including salicylic acid(SA),jasmonic acid(JA),prosystemin,pathogenesis-related gene 1,and ethylene(ET)pathways,which activate the gene expression of ISR,the synthesis of secondary metabolites,various enzymes,and volatile compounds that ultimately induce defense mechanisms in *** protect themselves from disease,plants have various advanced defense mechanisms in which local acquired resistance,systemic gene silencing,systemic wound response,systemic acquired resistance(SAR),and ISR are *** rhizobacteria activate the SA-dependent SAR pathway by producing SA at the root’s *** contrast,other rhizobacteria can activate different signaling pathways independent of SA(SA-independent ISR pathways)such as those dependent on JA and ET *** main objective of this review is to provide insight into the types of induced resistance utilized for plant *** to this,the genetic approaches used to suppress disease-causing genes,i.e.,RNA interference and antisense RNA,which are still underutilized in sustainable agriculture,along with the current vision for virus-induced gene silencing are also discussed.

Effects of Annealing Temperature on the Structural,Optical,and Electrical Properties of ZnO Thin Films Grown on n-Si<100>Substrates by the Sol–Gel Spin Coating Method

The effects of annealing temperature on the sol–gel-derived ZnO thin films deposited on n-Sh100 i substrates by sol–gel spin coating method have been studied in this *** structural,optical,and electrical properties of ZnO thin films annealed at 450,550,and 650 °C in the Ar gas atmosphere have been investigated in a systematic *** XRD analysis shows a polycrystalline nature of the films at all three annealing ***,the crystallite size is observed to be increased with the annealing temperature,whereas the positions of various peaks in the XRD spectra are found to be red-shifted with the *** surface morphology studied through the scanning electron microscopy measurements shows a uniform distribution of ZnO nanoparticles over the entire Si substrates of enhanced grain sizes with the annealing *** properties investigated by photoluminescence spectroscopy shows an optical band gap varying in the range of 3.28–3.15 eV as annealing temperature is increased from 450 to 650 °C,*** fourpoint probe measurement shows a decrease in resistivity from 2：1 10 2to 8：1 10 4X cm with the increased temperature from 450 to 650 °*** study could be useful for studying the sol–gel-derived ZnO thin film-based devices for various electronic,optoelectronic,and gas sensing applications.

Gastric electrical stimulation: An emerging therapy for children with intractable gastroparesis

Management of gastroparesis remains challenging,particularly in pediatric *** care and pharmacological therapies for symptoms remain the mainstay *** they are effective for mild and some moderately severe cases,often time they do not work for severe *** are a few prokinetics available,yet the use of these drugs is limited by a lack of persistent efficacy and/or safety ***,the only modality for adult patients with severe intractable gastroparesis is surgery,e.g.,pyloroplasty and partial gastrectomy,however,this option is generally considered too radical for a growing *** therapeutic approaches,particularly those which are less invasive,are *** article explores gastric electrical stimulation(GES),a new therapy for *** others,it neither needs medications nor gastrectomy;rather,it treats through the use of microelectrodes to deliver high-frequency low energy electric stimulation to the pacemaker area of the ***,it is tolerated and safe in *** in adult patients,GES appears to work in releasing symptoms,improving nutrition,and enhancing the quality of life;it also helps wean off medications and eliminate many needs for *** the transient nature of gastroparesis in children in many occasions,GES is considered a“bridging”therapy after failed medical interventions and before surgery.

Immune checkpoint inhibitor-induced colitis:A comprehensive review

Immune checkpoint inhibitors(ICIs) are monoclonal antibodies that target downregulators of the anti-cancer immune response: Cytotoxic T-lymphocyte antigen-4, programmed cell death protein-1, and its ligand programmed death-ligand *** have revolutionized the treatment of a variety of malignancies. However,many immune-related adverse events have also been described which mainly occurs as the immune system becomes less suppressed, affecting various organs including the gastrointestinal tract and causing diarrhea and colitis. The incidence of immune-mediated colitis(IMC) ranges from 1%-25% depending on the type of ICI and if used in combination. Endoscopically and histologically there is a significant overlap between IMC and inflammatory bowel disease,however more neutrophilic inflammation without chronic inflammation is usually present in IMC. Corticosteroids are recommended for grade 2 or more severe colitis while holding the immunotherapy. About one third to two thirds of patients are steroid refractory and benefit from infliximab. Recently vedolizumab has been found to be efficacious in steroid and infliximab refractory cases. While in grade 4 colitis, the immunotherapy is permanently discontinued, the decision is controversial in grade 3 colitis.

Early debridement and delayed primary vascularized cover in forearm electrical burns: A prospective study

AIM To look into the management options of early debridement of the wound, followed by vascularized cover to bring in fresh blood supply to remaining tissue in electrical burns. METHODS A total of 16 consecutive patients sustaining full thickness forearm burns over a period of one year were included in the study group. Debridement was undertaken within 48 h in 13 patients. Three patients were taken for debridement after 48 h. Debridement was repeated within 2-4 d after daily wound assessment and need for further debridement. RESULTS On an average two debridements(range 1-4) was required in our patients for the wound to be ready for definitive cover. Interval between each debridement ranged from 2-18 d. Fourteen patients were provided vascularized cover after final debridement(6 free flaps, 8 pedicled flaps). Functional assessment of gross hand function done at 6 wk, 2 mo, 3 mo and 6 mo follow-up. CONCLUSION High-tension electrical burns lead to significant morbi-dity. These injuries are best managed by early decompression followed by multiple serial debridements. The ideal timing of free flap coverage needs further investigation.

The effect of treatment package time in head and neck cancer patients treated with adjuvant radiotherapy and concurrent systemic therapy

Objectives:In patients with head and neck carcinoma,“treatment package time”(TPT)was proven to impact outcomes in cases receiving adjuvant radiotherapy *** impact in patients receiving radiotherapy with concurrent systemic therapy has not been studied *** TPT influence on survival endpoints for patients treated with surgery followed by radiation and concurrent systemic therapy was ***:Institutional database to identify head and neck carcinoma cases treated with definitive surgery followed by concomitant chemo(bio)radiotherapy(CRT)was *** was the number of days elapsed between surgery and the last day of radiation.%FINDCUT SAS macro tool was used to search for the cutoff TPT that was associated with significant survival ***-Meier curves,log-rank tests as well as univariate and multivariate analyses were used to assess overall survival(OS)and recurrence free survival(RFS).Results:One hundred and three cases with a median follow up of 37 months were included in the *** tumors were 43%,oral cavity 40%and laryngeal 17%of *** systemic therapy included platinum and cetuximab in 72%and 28%,*** TPT was found to be<100 days with significantly better OS(P=0.002)and RFS(P=0.043)compared to TPT≥100 *** multivariate analysis;TPT<100 days,extracapsular nodal extension,high-risk score,iymphovascular space and perineural invasion were independent predictors for worse OS(P<0.05).T4,extracapsular nodal extension and high-risk score were all significantly detrimental to RFS(P<0.05).Conclusions:Addition of concomitant systemic therapy to adjuvant radiotherapy did not compensate for longer TPT in head and neck squamous cell *** coordinated care must be provided to ensure the early start of CRT with minimal treatment breaks.

Improvement of Plasma Performance with Lithium Wall Conditioning in Aditya Tokamak

Lithiumization of the vacuum vessel wall of the Aditya tokamak using a lithium rod exposed to glow discharge cleaning plasma has been done to understand its effect on plasma performance. After the Li-coating, an increment of ~100 eV in plasma electron temperature has been observed in most of the discharges compared to discharges without Li coating, and the shot reproducibility is considerably improved. Detailed studies of impurity behaviour and hydrogen recycling are made in the Li coated discharges by observing spectral lines of hydrogen, carbon, and oxygen in the visible region using optical fiber, an interference filter, and PMT based systems. A large reduction in O I signal （up to ~40% to 50%） and a 20% to 30% decrease of Ha signal indicate significant reduction of wall recycling. Furthermore, VUV emissions from O V and Fe XV monitored by a grazing incidence monochromator also show the reduction. Lower Fe XV emission indicates the declined impurity penetration to the core plasma in the Li coated discharges. Significant increase of the particle and energy confinement times and the reduction of Zeff of the plasma certainly indicate the improved plasma parameters in the Aditya tokamak after lithium wall conditioning.
