The demand for cybersecurity is rising recently due to the rapid improvement of network *** a primary defense mechanism,an intrusion detection system(IDS)was anticipated to adapt and secure com-puting infrastructures from the constantly evolving,sophisticated threat ***,various deep learning methods have been put forth;however,these methods struggle to recognize all forms of assaults,especially infrequent attacks,because of network traffic imbalances and a shortage of aberrant traffic samples for model *** work introduces deep learning(DL)based Attention based Nested U-Net(ANU-Net)for intrusion detection to address these issues and enhance detection *** this IDS model,the first data preprocessing is carried out in three stages:duplication elimi-nation,label transformation,and data *** the features are extracted and selected based on the Improved Flower Pollination Algorithm(IFPA).The Improved Monarchy Butterfly Optimization Algorithm(IMBO),a new metaheuristic,is used to modify the hyper-parameters in ANU-Net,effectively increasing the learning rate for spatial-temporal information and resolving the imbalance *** the use of parallel programming,the MapReduce architecture reduces computation complexity while signifi-cantly accelerating *** publicly available data sets were used to evaluate and test the *** investigational outcomes suggest that the proposed technique can more efficiently boost the performances of IDS under the scenario of unbalanced *** proposed method achieves above 98%accuracy and classifies various attacks significantly well compared to other classifiers.

Cellulase production by Aspergillus unguis in solid state fermentation

Lignocellulosic substrates are a good carbon source and provide rich growth media for a variety of microorganisms which prodLuce industrially important enzymes. Cellulases are a group of hydrolytic enzymes such as filter paperase (FPase), carboxymethyl cellulase(CMCase) andβ-glucosidase-responsible for release of sugars in the bioconversion of the lignocellulosic biomass into a variety of value-added products. This study examined cellulase production by a newly isolated Aspergillus unguis on individual lignocellulosic substrates in solid state fermentation (SSF). The maximum peak production of enzymes varied from one substrate to another, however,based on the next best solid support and local availability of groundnut fodder supported maximum enzyme yields compared with other solid supports used in this *** fodder supported significant production of FPase (5.9 FPU/g of substrate), CMCase (1.1 U/g of substrate) andβ-glucosidase activity (6.5 U/g of substrate) in SSF. Considerable secretion of protein (27.0 mg/g of substrate) on groundnut fodder was recorded. Constant increment of protein content in groundnut fodder due to cultivation of A. unguis is an interesting observation and it has implications for the improvement of nutritive value of groundnut fodder for cattle.

Current updates on laboratory techniques for the diagnosis of male reproductive failure

The incidence of male reproductive failure leading to infertility, whether due to delayed parenthood, environmental issues, genetic factors, drugs, etc., is increasing throughout the world. The diagnosis and prognosis of male subfertility have become a challenge. While the basic semen assessment has been performed for many years, a number of studies question the value of the traditional semen characteristics. This is partly due to inadequate methods and standardization, limited knowledge of technical requirements for quality assurance, and an incomplete understanding of what clinical information a semen assessment can provide. Laboratories currently performing semen and endocrine assessment show great variability. The World Health Organization （WHO） manual for the evaluation of semen has been the core of andrology and fertility evaluation that has helped in further development of this field over many years. These include the physical appearance of the ejaculate, assessments of sperm count, motility, vitality, morphology, and functional aspects of the sperm and semen sample. These tests also include male endocrine profile, biochemical evaluation of the semen, detection of antisperm antibodies in serum, the use of computer-aided sperm analysis （CASA）, sperm DNA integrity, and its damage due to oxidative stress. Assisted reproductive techniques （e.g., IVF, ICSI） have shown great success but are too expensive. Further development in this field with newer techniques and extensive training/instructions can improve accuracy and reduce variability, thus maintaining the quality and standards of such an evaluation. There is an urgent need to have standardized training centers and increased awareness in this area of men＇s health for reproductive success.

Mitigating phytotoxicity of tetracycline by metal-free 8-hydroxyquinoline functionalized carbon nitride photocatalyst

Photooxidative removal of pharmaceuticals and organic dyes is an effective way to eliminate growing micropollutants. However, photooxidation often results in byproducts as secondary hazardous substances such as phytotoxins. Herein, we found that photooxidation of common antibiotic tetracycline hydrochloride(TCH) over a metal-free 8-hydroxyquinoline(8-HQ) functionalized carbon nitride(CN) photocatalyst significantly reduces the TCH phytotoxic effect. The phytotoxicity test of photocatalytic treated TCH-solution evaluated towards seed growth of Cicer arietinum plant model endowed natural root and shoot *** study highlights the conceptual insights in designing of metal-free photocatalyst for environmental remediation.

Endocrine disruptors and estrogenic effects on male reproductive axis

Endocrine disruptors （e.g., polychlorinated biphenyls [PCBs], dichlorodiphenyl-trichloroethane [DDT], dioxin, and some pesticides） are estrogen-like and anti-androgenic chemicals in the environment. They mimic natural hormones, inhibit the action of hormones, or alter the normal regulatory function of the endocrine system and have potential hazardous effects on male reproductive axis causing infertility. Although testicular and prostate cancers, abnormal sexual development, undescended testis, chronic inflammation, Sertoli-cell-only pattern, hypospadias, altered pituitary and thyroid gland functions are also observed, the available data are insufficient to deduce worldwide conclusions. The development of intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection （ICSI） is beyond doubt the most important recent breakthrough in the treatment of male infertility, but it does not necessarily treat the cause and may inadvertently pass on adverse genetic consequences. Many well-controlled clinical studies and basic scientific discoveries in the physiology, biochemistry, and molecular and cellular biology of the male reproductive system have helped in the identification of greater numbers of men with male factor problems. Newer tools for the detection of Y-chromosome deletions have further strengthened the hypothesis that the decline in male reproductive health and fertility may be related to the presence of certain toxic chemicals in the environment. Thus the etiology, diagnosis, and treatment of male factor infertility remain a real challenge. Clinicians should always attempt to identify the etiology of a possible testicular toxicity, assess the degree of risk to the patient being evaluated for infertility, and initiate a plan to control and prevent exposure to others once an association between occupation/toxicant and infertility has been established.

Preparation and characterization of hydrothermally engineered TiO2-fly ash composite membrane

This work targets the preparation and char-acterization of an inexpensive TiO2-fly ash composite membrane for oily wastewater treatment. The composite membrane was fabricated by depositing a hydrophilic TiO2 layer on a fly ash membrane via the hydrothermal method, and its structural, morphological and mechanical properties were evaluated. The separation potential of the composite membrane was evaluated for 100-200 mg·L^-1 synthetic oily wastewater solutions. The results show that the composite membrane has excellent separation performance and can provide permeate stream with oil concentration of only 0.26-5.83 mg·L^-1. Compared with the fly ash membrane in the average permeate flux and performance index （49.97 × 10^-4 m^3·m^2·s^-1 and 0.4620%, respectively）, the composite membrane exhibits better performance （51.63× 10^-4 m^3·m^2·s^-1 and 0.4974%）. For the composite surface methodology based ash membrane, the response analysis inferred that the optimum process parameters to achieve maximum membrane flux and rejection are 207 kPa, 200 mg·L^-1 and 0.1769 m·s^-1 for applied pressure, feed concentration and cross flow velocity, respectively. Under these conditions, predicted responses are 41.33× 10^-4 m^3·m^2·s^-1 permeate flux and 98.7% rejection, which are in good agreement with the values obtained from experimental investigations （42.84× 10^-4 m^3·m^2·s^-1 and 98.82%）. Therefore, we have demonstrated that the TiO2-fty ash composite membrane as value added product is an efficient way to recycle fly ash and thus mitigate environmental hazards associated with the disposal of oily wastewaters.

Genes and genetics in eye diseases: a genomic medicine approach for investigating hereditary and inflammatory ocular disorders

Past 25 y have witnessed an exponential increase in knowledge and understanding of ocular diseases and their respective genetic underpinnings. As a result, scientists have mapped many genes and their variants that can influence vision and health of our eyes. Based on these findings, it is becoming clear that an early diagnosis employing genetic testing can help evaluate patients＇ conditions for instituting treatment plan（s） and follow-up care to avoid vision complications later. For example, knowing family history becomes crucial for inherited eye diseases as it can benefit members in family who may have similar eye diseases or predispositions. Therefore, gathering information from an elaborate examination along with complete assessment of past medical illness by ophthalmologists followed by consultation with geneticists can help create a roadmap for making diagnosis and treatment precise and beneficial. In this review, we present an update on ocular genomic medicine that we believe has tremendous potential towards unraveling genetic implications in ocular diseases and patients＇ susceptibilities. We also discuss translational aspects of genetic ophthalmology and genome engineering that may help advance molecular diagnostics and therapeutics.

Incorporation of europium (Ⅱ) nanostructures into the channels of mesoporous silicon oxy-nitride for enhanced photoluminescence

Divalent europium（Ⅱ）-doped mesoporous silicon oxy-nitride materials, as a novel type of nanoscopic photoluminescent material, are studied in which the optically active luminescent centers are isolated within the pores. Colorless and transparent blue emitting luminous Eu2＋-doped mesoporous silicon oxy-nitride materials were prepared from mesoporous silica via impregnation, nanocasting and nitrogen-assisted carbothermal reduction and nitridation method. The morphology and porosity of the silica remain unchanged during the synthesis process as revealed by SEM images and by nitrogen sorption studies. Photoluminescence studies reveal a strong blue emission band for Eu2＋ centered at 425 nm with a quantum efficiency of 47%. The luminescent intensity is greatly influenced by the amount of co-dopant, AI3＋ ions.
