We propose a new approach to the generation of an alphabet for secret key exchange relying on small variations in the cavity length of an ultralong fiber *** new concept is supported by experimental results showing how the radiofrequency spectrum of the laser can be exploited as a carrier to exchange *** test bench for our proof of principle is a 50-km-long fiber laser linking two users,Alice and Bob,where each user can randomly add an extra 1-km-long segment of *** choice of laser length is driven by two independent random binary values,which makes such length become itself a random *** security of key exchange is ensured whenever the two independent random choices lead to the same laser length and,hence,to the same free spectral range.

Design of a Microcontroller-Based Data Acquisition System for Ground Weather Observations: Evaluation of Radio Refractivity of Air

A meteorological data acquisition system is built using a PIc16F877A microcontroller and electric output-based sensors. This system is programmed in c language using the PcWH compiler. It is smart, accurate, cheap, small, light and easily movable. It is designed to automatically get instantaneous measurements of air temperature, atmospheric pressure, and relative humidity. Depending on their utilisation, these measurements are collected with repetition rate tuneable from one minute to one hour. They are displayed on LcD screen and transferred to a personal computer where they are stored and processed. As an application, such data are recorded in situ and used to estimate the radio refractivity of air near the ground in real time. This parameter is necessary to account for the propagation of radiofrequency waves through the lower atmosphere, during wireless transmissions.

Mannan-binding lectin(MBL)is a soluble innate immune protein that binds to glycosylated *** acts as an opsonin and activates complement,contributing to the destruction and clearance of infecting *** c virus(HcV)encodes two envelope glycoproteins E1 and E2,expressed as non-covalent E1/E2 heterodimers in the viral envelope.E1 and E2 are potential ligands for *** we describe an analysis of the interaction between HcV and MBL using recombinant soluble E2 ectodomain fragment,the full-length E1/E2 heterodimer,expressed in vitro,and assess the effect of this interaction on virus entry.A binding assay using antibody capture of full length E1/E2 heterodimers was used to demonstrate calcium dependent,saturating binding of MBL to HcV *** with various saccharides further confirmed that the interaction was via the lectin domain of *** binds to E1/E2 representing a broad range of virus *** was shown to neutralize the entry into Huh-7 cells of HcV pseudoparticles(HcVpp)bearing E1/E2 from a wide range of *** were neutralized to varying *** was also shown to neutralize an authentic cell culture infectious virus,strain JFH-1(HcVcc).Furthermore,binding of MBL to E1/E2 was able to activate the complement system via MBL-associated serine protease *** conclusion,MBL interacts directly with HcV glycoproteins,which are present on the surface of the virion,resulting in neutralization of HcV particles.
