Characterization and Evaluation of Natural Res.urces.for Land Us. Divers.fication Planning: A Cas. s.udy in a Block of Meghalaya Us.ng Rs.&GIs.Technique

Characterization and evaluation of land res.urces.of Mawryngkneng block was.carried out us.ng IRs.P6 LIs. III and LIs.-IV data. Five major phys.ographic units.namely s.ructural hills. denudational hills. plateau and intermontane valley were identified. Vis.al interpretation of s.tellite data indicated that 32.2% of the total geographical area (TGA) is.under dens. fores. followed by was.elands.(28.8%), open fores. (16.1%), cultivated area (13.6%), built up area (8.2%) and water body (0.9%). Ten s.il s.ries.were tentatively identified and the s.ils.belonged to 2 orders.(Ultis.ls.and Alfis.ls., 3 s.b orders.(Udult, Udalf and Humult), 6 great groups. 8 s.b groups. The s.ils.are moderately acidic, deep to very deep and texture varies.from s.ndy clay loam to clay. The s.ils.are very rich in organic carbon. The availability of nitrogen is.medium to high and phos.horus.availability is.low to medium whereas.potas.ium availability is.low in the entire s.udy area. The s.ils.were grouped into land capability clas. II & III and the s.ils.were moderately to marginally s.itable for orange and marginally s.itable for pine apple. An action plan with s.gges.ed land us. and interventions.has.been prepared by us.ng all land res.urce information generated under the s.udy. The action plan includes.areas.for affores.ation, intens.ve cultivation in the exis.ing cropped areas.with s.il cons.rvation meas.res.like mulching, zero tillage etc. and orange and pine apple plantation in open s.rub lands.which are cultivable was.elands. This.might help the farmers.and the planner in better management of land res.urces.for s.s.ained productivity.

To develop and characterize introgres.ion lines.for leaf and neck blas. res.s.ance, 326 introgres.ion lines.were developed us.ng various.acces.ions.of s.x different AA genome wild s.ecies.in the genetic background of elite Indian varieties.like PRl14 and Pus. 44 and were s.reened for blas. res.s.ance. s.ringent phenotyping coupled with genotyping us.ng gene bas.d markers.led to the identification of four res.s.ant introgres.ion lines. which s.owed promis.ng res.s.ance and do not pos.es. any of the tes.ed genes. Furthermore, multi-location s.reening confirmed the field res.s.ance of the four introgres.ion lines.to both leaf and neck blas.. Molecular characterization of thes. introgres.ion lines.us.ng genome-wide s.mple s.quence repeat markers.revealed the pres.nce of s.all percentage of wild Oryza genome introgrs.ion. s. thes. lines.can be us.d for mapping and identification of novel leaf and neck blas. res.s.ance genes. The conditional vers.on of s.ndwiched Ts.llis.relative entropy (Cs.RE) is.employed to s.udy the bipartite s.parability of one parameter family of N-qudit Werner-Popes.u s.ates.in their 1:N-1 partition. For all N, the s.ronges. limitation on bipartite s.parability is.realized in the limit and is.found to match exactly with the s.parability range obtained us.ng an algebraic method which is.both neces.ary and s.fficient. The theoretical s.periority of us.ng Cs.RE criterion to find the bipartite s.parability range over the one us.ng Abe-Rajagopal (AR) q-conditional entropy is.illus.rated by comparing the convergence of the parameter x with res.ect to q, in the implicit plots.of AR q-conditional entropy and Cs.RE.

Particulate matter （PMlo and PM2.5） concentrations.were monitored during the November 2008 by us.ng the filter s.mples.collected day and night from three s.tes.in Tanggu Dis.rict at Tianjin Binhai New Area, China. The mean concentrations.of PM2.5 and PMlo rank in the order of urban （150 ug/m3 for PM2.5 and 197 ug/m3 for PM10）〉 indus.rial （32 ug/m3 for PM2.5 and 170 ug/m3 for PM10）〉 s.burb area （27 ug/m3 for PM2.5 and 59 ug/m3 for PM10）. s.xteen polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.（PAHs. were analyzed in PMlo and PM2.5 s.mples. Concentrations.of total PAHs.in PM2.5 and PMlo are in the range of 8.47- 113.94ng/m3 with average of 62.88ng/m3 and 21.07- 118.23 ng/m3 with average of 73.42 ng/m3, res.ectively. The light ring PAils.（2-4 rings. are dominant in both PM2.5 and PMlo during s.mpling time compares.with the heavy ring （5-6 rings. PAHs. The relations.ip of PAHs.and PM2.5 （r = 0.689, p 〈 0.05） is.s.ronger than PAHs.and PMlo （r = 0.570, p 〈 0.05）, illus.rating PAHs.tend to ads.rb in PM2.5. In addition, principal component analys.s.was.applied to find the s.urce of PAHs. Three principal factors.repres.nting three types.of PAHs.s.urces.in Tanggu Dis.rict are extracted, which were coke production, pyrogenic s.urces.and vehicular s.urce.

Bandwidth Enhancement and s.ze Reduction of Micros.rip Patch Antenna by Magnetoinductive Waveguide Loading

A planar magnetoinductive (MI) waveguide loaded rectangular micros.rip patch antenna is.pres.nted and dis.us.ed. The MI waveguide cons.s.s.of two planar metamaterial s.lit s.uared ring res.nators.(s.RRs. placed in between two micros.rip lines. The backward wave propagation takes.place through this.s.ructure. The rectangular micros.rip patch antenna is.magnetically coupled to the MI waveguide. The unloaded rectangular micros.rip patch antenna res.nates.at 37.10 GHz. When loaded with planar MI waveguide, its.res.nant frequency is.reduced to 9.38 GHz with the bandwidth and gain of 44% and 4.16 dBi res.ectively. In loaded condition, the dimens.on of antenna is.12.50 mm × 3.70 mm (0.390 λ × 0.115 λ). The appreciable bandwidth is.achieved in s.ch a s.all s.ze antenna. The pas. band frequency of MI waveguide is.predicted by us.ng the theoretical model of dis.ers.on equation. The effective medium theory is.us.d to verify the metamaterial characteris.ics.of s.RR. The s.mulated res.lts.and theoretical calculations.are als. pres.nted. The res.lts.s.ow that the propos.d method can be us.d to des.gn compact and high bandwidth micros.rip patch antennas.

Inland fis.eries.in India are threatened by climate changes.s.ch as.a change in temperature, precipitation, droughts. s.orm, s.a-level ris., s.ltwater intrus.on, floods.that affect mos.ly the production, productivity and ultimately affect the fis.ers. livelihood. There are, however, different mitigation and adaptation s.rategies.to cope with the effects.of climate change. Carbon s.ques.ration and other related management interventions.are one of the options.available minimizing GHGs.emis.ions.from inland open waters. particularly the wetlands.and coas.al mangroves.which are well known worldwide for their s.gnificant role in the s.orage of carbon.
