Neurodegenerative disease etiology is still unclear,but different contributing factors,such as lifestyle and genetic factors are *** components of the gut could play a key role in the gut-brain axis,which is a bidirectional system between the central nervous system and the enteric nervous *** in the composition of the gut microbiota and its function between healthy people and patients have been reported for a variety of human disorders comprising metabolic,autoimmune,cancer,and,notably,neurodegenerative *** can alter the microbiota composition,affecting the gutbrain axis *** nutraceutical interventions have been devoted to normalizing gut microbiome dysbiosis and to improving biological outcomes in neurological conditions,including the use of *** and clinical investigations discussed in this review strengthen the correlation between intestinal microbiota and brain and the concept that modifying the microbiome composition may improve brain neurochemistry,modulating different *** review will discuss the potential use of probiotics for Parkinson’s disease prevention or treatment or as adjuvant therapy,confirming that gut microbiota modulation influences different pro-survival *** investigations in Parkinson’s disease should consider the role of the gut-brain axis and additional comprehension of the underlying mechanisms is extremely necessary.

Transportation networks are sized to efficiently achieve some set of service *** particular circumstances,such as the COVID-19 pandemic,the demand for transportation can significantly change,both qualitatively and quantitatively,resulting in an over-capacitated and less efficient *** this paper,we address this issue by proposing a framework for resizing the network to efficiently cope with the new *** framework includes a model to determine an optimal transportation sub-network that guarantees the following:(i)the minimal access time from any node of the urban network to the new sub-network has not excessively increased compared to that of the original transportation network;(ii)the delay induced on any itinerary by the removal of nodes from the original transportation network has not excessively increased;and(iii)the number of removed nodes from the transportation network is within a preset known factor.A solution is optimal if it induces a minimal global *** modelled this problem as a Mixed Integer Linear Program and applied it to the public bus transportation network of Lyon,France,in a case *** order to respond to operational issues,the framework also includes a decision tool that helps the network planners to decide which bus lines to close and which ones to leave open according to specific trade-off *** results on real data in Lyon show that the optimal sub-network from the MILP model can be used to feed the decision tool,leading to operational scenarios for network planners.

Multiple sequence alignments are successfully applied in many studies for understanding the structural and functional relations among single nucleic acids and protein sequences as well as whole families. Because of the rapid growth of sequence databases, multiple sequence alignments can often be very large and difficult to visualize and analyze. We offer a new service aimed to visualize and analyze the multiple alignments obtained with different external algorithms, with new features useful for the comparison of the aligned sequences as well as for the creation of a final image of the alignment. Purpose： The optimal surgical treatment of displaced type B and C fractures of the proximal humerus in the elderly remains controversial. Good clinical results have been reported by plating these fractures as well as a high rate of complications. Our retrospective study aims to evaluate clinical recovery and complications using the S3 locking plate in elderly patients. Methods： Fifty-one patients older than 65 years of age, with a complex proximal humeral fracture type B or C （AO classification system）, were included. Patients have been followed up for a minimum of 12 months. We assessed callus formation, radiological results, clinical outcome （according to the Constant Shoulder Score System） and complications. Any difference in the clinical recovery among the 2 types of fracture pattern （B and C） was investigated. Results： The mean time of fracture healing was 12.4 weeks. The mean Constant score at 3, 6 and 12 months was 68, 73 and 75 respectively. No statistically significant difference in the clinical outcome was observed between the 13 and C fracture patterns （p 〉 0.05）. We noticed an overall of 5 complications （9.8%）. There was no need to revision any of the implants. Conclusion： Anatomic reduction and proper plate positioning are essential for minimizing implant- related complications. In our experience the S3 angular stability system offers a proper osteosyntesis and a ~ood clinical recovery with a low rate of complications.

The contemporary problem of prostate cancer overtreatment can be partially attributed to the diagnosis of potentially indolent prostate cancers that pose low risk to aged men, and lack of sufficiently accurate risk stratification methods to reliably seek out men with indolent diseases. Since progressive acquisition and accumulation of genomic alterations, both genetic and epigenetic, is a defining feature of all human cancers at different stages of disease progression, it is hypothesized that RNA and DNA alterations characteristic of indolent prostate tumors may be different from those previously characterized in the setting of clinically significant prostate cancer. Approaches capable of detecting such alterations on a genome-wide level are the most promising. Such analysis may uncover molecular events defining early initiating stages along the natural history of prostate cancer progression, and ultimately lead to rational development of risk stratification methods for identification of men who can safely forego treatment. However, defining and characterizing indolent prostate cancer in a clinically relevant context remains a challenge, particularly when genome-wide approaches are employed to profile formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded （FFPE） tissue specimens. Here, we provide the conceptual basis underlying the importance of understanding indolent prostate cancer from molecular profiling studies, identify the key hurdles in sample acquisition and variables that affect molecular data derived from FFPE tissues, and highlight recent progresses in efforts to address these technical challenges.

Is bigger better？ Male body size affects wing-borne courtship signals and mating success in the olive fruit fly, Bactrocera oleae （Diptera： Tephritidae）

Variations in male body size are known to affect inter- and intrasexual selection outcomes in a wide range of animals. In mating systems involving sexual signaling before mating, body size often acts as a key factor affecting signal strength and mate choice. We evaluated the effect of male size on courtship displays and mating success of the olive fruit fly, Bactrocera oleae （Diptera： Tephritidae）. Wing vibrations performed during successful and unsuccessful courtships by large and small males were recorded by high-speed videos and analyzed through frame-by-frame analysis. Mating success of large and small males was investigated. The effect of male-male competition on mating success was evaluated. Male body size affected both male courtship signals and mating outcomes. Successful males showed wing-borne signals with high frequencies and short interpulse intervals. Wing vibrations displayed by successful large males during copulation attempt had higher frequencies over smaller males and unsuccessful large males. In no-competition conditions, large males achieved higher mating success with respect to smaller ones. Allowing large and small males to compete for a female, large males achieve more mating success over smaller ones. Mate choice by females may be based on selection of the larger males, able to produce high-frequency wing vibrations. Such traits may be indicative of ＂good genes,＂ which under sexual selection could means good social-interaction genes, or a good competitive manipulator of conspecifics.

Praseodymium can modify the properties of ceria (CeO2), changing the electronic structure, reducibility and catalytic behavior. Oxygen vacancies in the ceria-based samples can activate C–O and C–H bonds of small molecules such as CO2 and propane. Partially reduced Pr/CeO2-x can selectively activate C–H of propane, giving a propylene selectivity of ca. 75% at a propane conversion of 5% to 10%. Excess reduction of Pr/CeO2-x induces coking reactions during propane dehydrogenation, resulting in fast catalyst deactivation.
