Chitin powder and chitin-aerogel were prepared from shrimp wastes and used to uptake Y^(3+)from aqueous solutions and concentrate this rare earth element from phosphogypsum(PG).Chitin aerogel displays a specific surface area of 945 m^(2)/g,while chitin powder is 3.6 m^(2)/g,which largely influences its adsorption *** the adsorption in synthetic solutions,the effect of pH on Y^(3+)removal is strong for chitin powder *** contrast,no big pH influence was detected for chitin *** interactions and chelation can highlight the proposed mechanism of Y^(3+)on chitin adsorbents for the powder and ***,in addition to these interactions,pore filling/pore diffusion is the main mechanism of Y^(3+)removal in the chitin *** aerogel is efficient in concentrating 8 times the Y^(3+)from PG,a very complex *** complex chitin aerogel-Y^(3+)can be a secondary source of rare earth elements for other applications.

Methanol synthesis catalysts based on Cu, Zn and Al were prepared by three methods and subsequently mixed with H-ferrierite zeolite in an aqueous suspension to disperse the catalysts over the support. These materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction, N2 adsorption, transmission electron microscopy, temperature programmed reduction, NH3 and H2 temperature-programmed desorption, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. They were also applied to the CO hydrogenation reaction to produce dimethyl ether and hydrocarbons. The catalysts were prepared by coprecipitation under low and high supersaturation conditions and by a homogeneous precipitation method. The preparation technique was found to affect the precursor structural characteristics, such as purity and crystallinity, as well as the particle size distribution of the resulting catalyst. Low supersaturation conditions favored high dispersion of the Cu species, increasing the methanol synthesis catalyst＇s metallic surface area and resulting in a homogeneous particle size distribution. These effects in turn were found to modify the zeolite properties, promoting both a low micropore volume and blockage of the zeolite acid sites. The effect of the methanol synthesis catalyst on the reaction was verified by the correlation between the Cu surface area and the CO conversion rate.

Studies in recent years have shown that aquatic pollution by microplastics(MPs)can be considered to pose additional stress to amphibian ***,our knowledge of how MPs affect amphibians is very rudimentary,and even more limited is our understanding of their effects in combination with other emerging ***,we aimed to evaluate the possible toxicity of polyethylene MPs(Pe-MPs)(alone or in combination with a mix of pollutants)on the health of Physalaemus cuvieri *** 30 days of exposure,multiple biomarkers were measured,including morphological,biometric,and developmental indices,behavioral parameters,mutagenicity,cytotoxicity,antioxidant and cholinesterase responses,as well as the uptake and accumulation of Pe-MPs in *** on the results,there was no significant change in any of the parameters measured in tadpoles exposed to treatments,but induced stress was observed in tadpoles exposed to Pe-MPs combined with themixture of pollutants,reflecting significant changes in physiological and biochemical *** principal component analysis(PCA)and integrated biomarker response(IBR)assessment,effects induced by pollutants in each test group were distinguished,confirming that the exposure of *** tadpoles to the Pe-MPs in combination with a mix of emerging pollutants induces an enhanced stress response,although the uptake and accumulation of Pe-MPs in these animalswas ***,our study provides newinsight into the danger to amphibians of MPs coexisting with other pollutants in aquatic environments.

The aim of this study was to characterize tinctures and microcapsules loaded with an ethanol extract of red propolis through chemical, physicochemical and microbiological assays in order to establish quality control tools for nutraceutical preparations of red propolis. The markers(isoflavonoids, chalcones, pterocarpans,flavones, phenolic acids, terpenes and guttiferones) present in the tinctures A and B were identified and confirmed using LC/eSI/FTMS/Orbitrap. Four compositions(A, B, C and D) were prepared to contain B tincture of the red propolis with some pharmaceutical excipients and submitted to two drying processes, i. ***-drying and freeze-drying to obtain microcapsules loaded with the red propolis extract. The tinctures and microcapsules of the red propolis were submitted to the total flavonoid content and antioxidant activity *** antibacterial activity and minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC) were tested using Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25293 and Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853 strains. The tinctures and microcapsules presented high flavonoid quantities from 20.50 to 40.79 mg/100 mg of the microcapsules. The antioxidant activity and IC50 were determined for the tinctures A and B(IC50: 6.95 μg/m L and 7.48 μg/m L), the spray-dried microcapsules(IC50: 8.89–15.63 μg/m L) and the freeze-dried microcapsules(IC50: 11.83–23.36 μg/m L). The tinctures and microcapsules were proved to be bioactive against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria with inhibition halos superior to 10 mm at concentration of 200 μg/m L and MIC values of 135.87–271.74 μg/m L using gram-positive strain and 271.74–543.48 μg/m L using gram-negative strain. The tinctures and microcapsules of the red propolis have a potential application for nutraceutical products.

Background： Nutrition is one of the most important factors that affect animal performance, and it therefore also impacts on financial results in beef systems. In this way, finding the best strategy for feeding supplements is of paramount importance. Aiming to evaluate the effect of supplement feeding strategies for beef cows in the last third of gestation, two experiments were conducted. In experiment 1, 35 pregnant Nellore cows were assigned to a completely randomized design with four treatments： control, which received no supplement; supplementation for the last 30 d of gestation（30-d; 3.0 kg/d）; supplementation for the last 60 d of gestation（60-d; 1.5 kg/d）; or supplementation for the last 90 d of gestation（90-d; 1.0 kg/d）. All supplemented treatments received the same total amount of supplement throughout the experiment： 90 kg（20% of crude protein）. A second experiment（experiment 2） was delineated to evaluate the effects of the amounts offered in experiment 1 on intake and metabolism. Four multiparous pregnant Nellore cows were assigned to a 4 × 4 Latin square design, with periods of15 d ***： There was a linear effect of the number of days of supplementation on calving body weight（BW; P 〈 0.05）and a quadratic effect on BW change from parturition to d 31 post-calving（P 〈 0.05）, with cows on the 60-d strategy losing less BW post-calving. No difference was found in offspring birth BW（P 〉 0.10）. A significant linear effect on interval from parturition to conception（P 〈 0.05） was observed, with the highest calving to conception interval being observed in the 90-d strategy. The level of supplementation did not affect forage intake or neutral detergent fiber digestibility（P 〉 0.10）. Nitrogen excreted through urine tended to increase linearly with the level of supplementation（P 〈 0.10）.Conclusion： Providing 1.5 kg of supplement during the last 60 d of gestation improves cow performance after calving, reducing the magnitude of BW lost, and reduces the number of

This research investigates the soil conditioning effect of sugar cane fields with biochar produced from sugarcane *** influence on the physicochemical and microbiological conditions of the soil and the agronomic performance of sugarcane seedlings was *** this end,the biochar from sugarcane bagasse was produced by pyrolysis in a double drum oven and mixed with soil at rates of 0,1%,3%,and 5%(in weight).The experiment was installed in a greenhouse with two evaluation periods(30 days and 60 days)and five *** pot received a pre-sprouted cane seedling,and the analysis of colony-forming units(bacteria and fungi),physicochemical characteristics of the soil,and growth and development of sugarcane were performed per *** biochar showed a high fixed carbon content(72%)and a specific surface area estimated by the adsorption of methylene blue of 50 m2 g−***,its structure is porous and contains important nutrients(e.g.,CaO,K2O,and P2O5).In the periods evaluated,the applications of the 3%and 5%(in weight)rates of biochar reduced most of the soil fertility ***,the chemical analyses indicated that the sugarcane field soil collected already possessed high *** microbiota was influenced,but only the application of the 3%(in weight)rate at 60 days after planting showed a significant positive effect on the number of bacteria forming units,with an increase of approximately 385%.On the other hand,no significant positive effect on sugarcane development was ***,biochar application in high-fertility sugarcane plantation soil did not result in gains for sugarcane development in the periods evaluated.
