Today, in the f.eld of.computer networks, new services have been developed on the Internet or intranets, including the mail server, database management, sounds, videos and the web server itself.Apache. The number of.solutions f.r this server is theref.re growing continuously, these services are becoming more and more complex and expensive, without being able to f.lf.ll the needs of.the users. The absence of.benchmarks f.r websites with dynamic content is the major obstacle to research in this area. These users place high demands on the speed of.access to inf.rmation on the Internet. This is why the perf.rmance of.the web server is critically important. Several f.ctors inf.uence perf.rmance, such as server execution speed, network saturation on the internet or intranet, increased response time, and throughputs. By measuring these f.ctors, we propose a perf.rmance evaluation strategy f.r servers that allows us to determine the actual perf.rmance of.dif.erent servers in terms of.user satisf.ction. f.rthermore, we identif.ed perf.rmance characteristics such as throughput, resource utilization, and response time of.a system through measurement and modeling by simulation. f.nally, we present a simple queue model of.an Apache web server, which reasonably represents the behavior of.a saturated web server using the Simulink model in Matlab (Matrix Laboratory) and also incorporates sporadic incoming traf.ic. We obtain server perf.rmance metrics such as average response time and throughput through simulations. Compared to other models, our model is conceptually straightf.rward. The model has been validated through measurements and simulations during the tests that we conducted.

Oxidative stress is one of.the main mechanisms responsible f.r male *** conditions such as varicocele,obesity,advanced age,and lif.style can lead to an increase in reactive oxygen species,causing an oxidative imbalance in the *** are sensitive to reactive oxygen species and require energy to carry out their main f.nction of.f.rtilizingthe *** reactive oxygen species can af.ect sperm metabolism,leading to immobility,impaired acrosome reaction,and celldeath,thereby impairing reproductive *** double-blind randomized study evaluated the ef.ect of.supplementation withL-carnitine,acetyl-L-carnitine,vitamins,and other nutrients on semen quality in 104 inf.rtile patients with or without varicocele,while also investigating the impact of.f.ctors such as obesity and advanced age on *** concentration signif.cantlyincreased in the supplemented group compared to the placebo group(P=0.0186).Total sperm count also signif.cantly increasedin the supplemented group(P=0.0117),as did sperm motility(P=0.0120).The treatment had a positive ef.ect on patients upto 35 years of.age in terms of.sperm concentration(P=0.0352),while a body mass index(BMI)above 25 kg m^(−2) had a negativeef.ect on sperm concentration(P=0.0110).Results were not showing a net benef.t in stratif.ing patients in accordance withtheir BMI since sperm quality increase was not af.ected by this *** conclusion,antioxidant supplementation may bebenef.cial f.r inf.rtile patients and has a more positive ef.ect on younger patients with a normal weight.

This work describes the use of.TiO_(2)nanotubes-based electrodes(TNT)modif.ed with Cu_(2)O nanostructures and gold nanoparticles f.r the photoelectroreduction of.CO_(2)to produce value-added compounds.A thin layer of.polydopamine was used as both an adherent agent and an electron transf.r mediator,due to itsπ-conjugated electron *** highest production yield was achieved using a TNT@PDA/Nc/Au40%electrode,with f.radaic ef.iciencies of.47.4%(110.5μM cm^(-2))and 27.8%(50.4μM cm^(-2))f.r methanol and methane,*** perf.rmance of.the photoelectrodes was shown to be Cu_(2)O f.cet-dependent,with cubic structures leading to greater conversion of.CO_(2)to methanol(43%)and methane(27%),compared to the octahedral morphology,while a higher percentage of.metallic gold on the nanostructured Cu_(2)O surf.ce was mainly important f.r *** f.nctional theory(Df.)calculations supported these f.ndings,attributing the superior photoelectrocatalytic perf.rmance of.the TNT@PDA/Nc/Au40%electrode f.r CH4generation to the f.rmation of.an OCH3intermediate bonded to Au *** using isotope-labeling and analysis by gas chromatograph-mass(GC-MS)demonstrated that13CO_(2)was the source f.r photoelectrocatalytic generation of.3CH3OH and13CH313CH2OH.

We studied the process of.of.spring production in queenless colonies of.Acromyrmex subterraneus brunneus, and particularly evaluated the ovary development of.workers as a f.nction of.their age. f.r this, subcolonies were set up and evaluated at dif.erent periods of.isolation f.om the queen （2, 4 and 6 months）, besides individually labeled age groups. The subcolonies were assessed according to of.spring production and ovaries containing oocytes or not. The evaluations showed worker oviposition and development of.males originating f.om worker-laid eggs. At 2 months＇ absence of.the queen, eggs and larvae were f.und, with eggs in a higher proportion than larvae. Af.er 4 months, the proportion of.eggs had reduced while larvae had increased, and a pupa was f.und in one subcolony. At 6 months, besides a higher share of.larvae, one pupa and one adult male were f.und. Dissection of.workers revealed ovaries containing oocytes during the periods of.evaluation. Only a group of.medium-sized and large workers, 23.3%, 20.9% and 37.5% of.the population f.om each period assessed in queenless subcolonies respectively, presented developed oocytes in the ovary. The same was observed in colonies with a queen, with 17.6%, 19.6% and 7.8% of.the group of.dissected workers f.om each time period, respectively. With respect to worker age, we observed by dissection of.the ovary, that the greatest percentage of.individuals with ovarioles containing oocytes occurred at 45 days （6 weeks） up to 90 days （12 weeks）. These results probably are associated with the workers reproduction and the laying of.trophic and reproductive eggs in colonies with and without a queen; these eggs have distinct f.nctions in each situation.

XB 1254-690 is a dipping low mass X-ray binary system hosting a neutron star and showing type I X-ray bursts. We aim at obtaining a more accurate orbital ephemeris and at constraining the orbital period derivative of.the system f.r the f.rst time. In addition, we want to better constrain the distance to the source in order to locate the system in a well def.ned evolutive scenario. We apply, f.r the f.rst time, an orbital timing technique to XB 1254-690, using the arrival times of.the dips present in the light curves that have been collected during 26 yr of.X-ray pointed observations acquired f.om dif.erent space missions. We estimate the dip arrival times using a statistical method that weights the count-rate inside the dip with respect to the level of.persistent emission outside the dip. We f.t the obtained delays as a f.nction of.the orbital cycles both with a linear and a quadratic f.nction. We inf.r the orbital ephemeris of.XB 1254-690, improving the accuracy of.the orbital period with respect to previous estimates. We inf.r a mass of.M2 = 0.42 ± 0.04 M f.r the donor star, in agreement with estimations already present in literature, assuming that the star is in thermal equilibrium while it transf.rs part of.its mass via the inner Lagrangian point, and assuming a neutron star mass of.1.4 Mo. Using these assumptions, we also constrain the distance to the source, f.nding a value of.7.6±0.8 kpc. f.nally, we discuss the evolution of.the system, suggesting that it is compatible with a conservative mass transf.r driven by magnetic braking.

Poromechanics plays a key role in modelling hard and sof. tissue behaviours,by providing a thermodynamic f.amework in which chemo-mechanical mutual interactions among f.uid and solid constituents can be consistently rooted,at dif.erent scale *** this context,how dif.erent biological species(including cells,extra-cellular components and chemical metabolites)interplay within complex environments is studied f.r characterizing the mechanobiology of.tumor growth,governed by intra-tumoral residual stresses that initiate mechanotransductive processes deregulating normal tissue homeostasis and leading to tissue *** the coupling between tumor poroelasticity and interspecif.c competitive dynamics has recently highlighted how microscopic cells and environment interactions inf.uence growth-associated stresses and tumor pathophysiology,the nonlinear interlacing among biochemical f.ctors and mechanics somehow hindered the possibility of.gaining qualitative insights into cells *** by this,in the present work we recover the linear poroelasticity in order to benef.t of.a reduced complexity,so f.rst deriving the well-known Lyapunov stability criterion f.om the thermodynamic dissipation principle and then analysing the stability of.the mechanical competition among cells f.ghting f.r common space and resources during cancer growth and *** the end,the linear poroelastic model enriched by interspecif.c dynamics is also exploited to show how growth anisotropy can alter the stress f.eld in spherical tumor masses,by thus indirectly af.ecting cell mechano-sensing.

Over the past 30 years, there has been a general change of.emphasis in toxicology f.om the traditional concerns with poisons and antidotes to understanding the chronic toxic ef.ects associated with exposure to environmental agents. The major cause of.this shif. was a f.cusing of.public interest on long-term health ef.ects of.man-made chemicals. This public awareness was motivated in part by the successes of.public health sanitarians in controlling inf.ctious diseases (with the recent exception of.AIDS), which resulted in the lengthening of.lif. expectancy in the population (Hart and Turturro, 1990).
