Vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)was discovered by its angiogenic ***,during evolution,it appeared earlier as a neurotrophic factor required for the developm.nt of the nervous system.in invertebrates lacking a circulatory *** aim.d at reviewing recent evidence indicating that VEGF has neuroprotective effects in neurons exposed to a variety of *** particular interest is the link established between VEGF and m.toneurons,especially after the design of the VEGFδ/δm.tant *** m.ce are characterized by low levels of VEGF and develop m.scle weakness and m.toneuron degeneration resem.ling am.otrophic lateral *** adm.nistration of VEGF through several routes to anim.l m.dels of am.otrophic lateral sclerosis delays m.tor im.airm.nt and m.toneuron degeneration and increases life *** are new recent advances in the role of VEGF in the physiology of *** experim.ntal aim. use the extraocular(abducens)m.toneurons lesioned by axotom. as a m.del for studying VEGF *** abducens m.toneurons exhibit severe alterations in their discharge activity and a loss of synaptic *** exogenous adm.nistration of VEGF to axotom.zed abducens m.toneurons,either from.the transected nerve or intraventricularly,fully restores the synaptic and discharge properties of abducens m.toneurons,despite being *** addition,when an anti-VEGF neutralizing antibody is delivered from.the m.scle to intact,uninjured abducens m.toneurons,these cells display alterations in their discharge pattern and a loss of synaptic boutons that resem.le the state of *** these data indicate that VEGF is an essential neurotrophic factor for m.toneurons.

JAZ proteins are negative regulators of jasm.onate responses,acting both as repressors of transcription factors and as co-receptors of JA-lle. The high redundancy of JAZ genes in angiosperm. has hindered the characterization of a com.lete depletion of JAZ function. m.reover, the recent discovery that dn- OPDA is the jasm.nate ligand in m.rchantia polym.rpha dem.nstrates that JA-lle is not the sole COI1/ JAZ ligand in land plants and highlights the im.ortance of studying JAZ co-receptors in bryophytes? Here, we have exploited the low gene redundancy of the liverwort m. polym.rpha to characterize the single m.J4Z in this early diverging plant lineage. We clarify the phylogenetic history of the TIFY fam.ly, dem.nstrate that m.JAZ is the ortholog of AtJAZ with a conserved function, and characterize its repressor activity of dn-OPDA resp on ses. Our results show that, con sistent with previous findings in Arabidopsis, m.JAZ represses jasm.nates biosynthesis, senescence, and plant defenses, and prom.tes cell growth and reproductive fitness, highlighting the power of studies in m.rchantia.

This paper proposes a m.thodology for the quantitative robustness evaluation of PID controllers em.loyed in a DC m.tor. The robustness analysis is perform.d em.loying a 2~3 factorial experim.ntal design for a fractional order proportional integral and derivative controller(FOPID), integer order proportional integral and derivative controller(IOPID)and the Skogestad internal m.del control controller(SIm.). The factors assum.d in experim.nt are the presence of random.noise,external disturbances in the system.input and variable load. As output variables, the experim.ntal design em.loys the system.step response and the controller action. Practical im.lem.ntation of FOPID and IOPID controllers uses the m.TLAB stateflow toolbox and a NI data acquisition system. Results of the robustness analysis show that the FOPID controller has a better perform.nce and robust stability against the experim.nt factors.

Pterosaur bones are for the first tim. reported from.the Trem. Syncline （Spain） and the southern Pyrenees. They com. from.the Torrebilles-2 site （Isona, Lleida Province） in the upper m.astrichtian part of the Trem. Form.tion, which falls within the C29r m.gnetochron. Fragm.ntary long bones are referred to the Pterosauria based on their cortical thinness, m.cro-architecture, and histological features. They belong to very large to possibly giant individuals. The m.st com.lete specim.n is possibly a partial right fem.r. The review of the m.astrichtian pterosaur record shows that only a few specim.ns can be referred to the C29r （which contains the K/Pg boundary）. The identification of fragm.ntary rem.ins could im.rove our knowledge about the abundance and distribution of these flying sauropsids just before the end-Cretaceous m.ss extinction.

Although pharm.ceuticals have beendetected in the environm.nt only in the range from.ng/L to μg/L, it has beendem.nstrated that they can adversely affect the health status of aquatic organism.. Lysosom.l m.m.rane stability （Lm.） has previously been applied as an indicator of cellularwell-being todeterm.ne health status in bivalve m.ssels. The objective of this study is to evaluate Lm. in Ruditapes philippinarum.haem.lym.h using the neutral red retention assay （NRRA）. Clam.were exposed in laboratory conditions to caffeine （0.1, 5, 15, 50 μg/L）, ibuprofen （0.1, 5, 10, 50 μg/L）, carbam.zepine and novobiocin （both at 0.1, 1, 10, 50 μg/L） for35days. Results show adose-dependent effect of the pharm.ceuticals. The neutral red retention tim. m.asured at the end of the bioassaywas significantly reduced by 50% after exposure to environm.ntal concentrations （p 〈 0.05）（caffeine = 15 μg/L; ibuprofen = 10 μg/L; carbam.zepine = 1 μg/L and novobiocin = 1 μg/L）, com.ared to controls. Clam. exposed to these pharm.ceuticalswere considered to present adim.nished health status （retention tim. 〈45 m.n）, significantlyworse than controls （96 m.n）（p 〈 0.05）. The predicted no environm.ntal effect concentration （PNEC） results showed that these pharm.ceuticals are very toxic at the environm.ntal concentrations tested. m.asurem.nt of the alteration of Lm. has been found to be a sensitive technique that enables evaluation of the health status of clam. after exposure to pharm.ceuticals under laboratory conditions, thus representing a robust Tier-1 screening biom.rker.
