Phosphorus(P) deficiency in soil is a major constrain for rice production. An important set of rice genotypes(landraces, old improved and new improved varieties) were screened for P deficiency tolerance in two major cropping seasons of Sri Lanka, in 2012. The Ultisol soil, which was collected from a plot cultivated with rice without fertilizer application for past 40 years(P_0) at the Rice Research and development Institute(RRdI), Bathalagoda, Sri Lanka, was used as the potting medium for greenhouse trials. Two field trials were conducted in the same plots at RRdI. Both P_0 and P_(30)(30 mg/kg P_2O_5) conditions were used in the two greenhouse trials. At the early vegetative(three weeks after transplanting), late vegetative(six weeks after transplanting) and flowering stages, plant height and number of tillers per plant were recorded. At the flowering stage, shoots were harvested and shoot dry weight, shoot P concentration, shoot P uptake and P utilization efficiency were measured. All data were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance, regression and cluster procedures. The measured parameters were significantly different between P_0 and P_(30) conditions(P dry weight was reported by the rice genotypes H4 and Marss under P_0 conditions. The regression analysis between shoot dry weight and P utilization efficiency revealed that the studied rice genotypes could be categorized to three P deficiency tolerance classes. A total of 13 genotypes could be considered as highly tolerant and 4 genotypes as sensitive for P deficiency. These results could be used to select parental genotypes for breeding and genetic studies and also to select interesting varieties or landraces for organic rice production.

[Objective] The aim is to expound the abrupt rainstorm in the central Hunan Province on May 6 in 2010.[Method] By dint of NCEP 1°×1° reanalysis data,routine observation data,auto-station precipitation and FY-2C satellite data,the large-scale circulation background and physical condition during the large rainstorm period from the night on May 5 to 6 in 2010 were *** large scale environment,meso-scale characteristics and potential causes for the formation of large precipitation were *** dint of FY-2d satellite and water-vapor cloud image,infrared cloud image,4 black light temperature,the variation characteristics of heavy rainstorm convection system were analyzed.[Result] Under the favorable environment background,the rainstorm was induced by the meso-scale convection system,and it had close relation with the upper-air trough,shear line in the middle and low layer,ground weak and cold air and the torrent in the upper and low *** result of all kinds of physical quantities suggested that the meso-scale rainstorm above the air had distinct characteristics and the heavy precipitation was in the middle Hunan *** was caused by *** dynamic dry belt above the satellite,TBB=-60℃ center and the large value area of the gradient could provide references for the forecast and pre-warning of large rainstorm.[Conclusion] The study accumulated experiences for the forecast and report of rainstorm in Hunan Province.

In this work,calcium niobium gallium garnet(Ca_(3)Nb_(1.6875)Ga_(3.1875)O_(12)-CNGG)ceramic samples singledoped with Tb^(3+)and co-doped with Tb^(3+)and Yb^(3+)ions were sintered by the solid-state reaction *** structural characterization of the samples was carried out by X-ray diffraction *** optimal concentration of Tb^(3+)ions corresponding to the maximum luminescence in the green spectral range in CNGG:x at%Tb(x=0.1,0.5,1,2,3,4,and 5)was determined to be 4 at%.The timeresolved luminescence of the^(5)d_(4)level(Tb^(3+))in the CNGG:x at%Tb samples was analysed to explore the quenching mechanisms involved in the Tb^(3+)green ***-doped CNGG:4 at%Tb,y at%Yb(y=0.5,2,4,6,8,and 10)ceramics were prepared and *** is shown that CNGG:4 at%Tb,y at%Yb phosphors exhibit intense green luminescence under ultra-violet(UV),visible(VIS),and near-infrared(NIR)excitation,thus demonstrating the presence of simultaneous down-conversion(dC)and upconversion(UC)*** dependence of the UC luminescence intensity on the diode laser pumping power was measured and the results indicate a two-photon process based on cooperative energy transfer(CET).Under UV excitation,the lifetime of the^(5)d_(4)(Tb^(3+))level slowly increases with increase of Yb^(3+)concentration,suggesting the energy transfer from Yb^(3+)to Tb^(3+)ions,while under NIR excitation,the lifetime of the^(5)d_(4)(Tb^(3+))level decreases with increase of Yb^(3+)ions concentration,indicating the presence of a strong energy transfer from Tb^(3+)to Yb^(3+)*** highest energy transfer efficiency ofη_(ET)≈42%was determined for the CNGG:4 at%Tb,10 at%Yb *** obtained results indicate that CNGG:(Tb^(3+),Yb^(3+))could be efficient new yellowish-green-emitting phosphors.

Friction stir processing and post process artificial ageing was successfully carried out on AA7075 with and without reinforcement of SiC particles producing defect free processed zone with uniform distribution of filler *** of SiC particle reinforcement and artificial ageing times on the microstructural modifications was characterized using optical and electron microscopy,electron backscattered diffraction and X-Ray ***,impact and wear tests were carried out to investigate mechanical behaviour before and after *** of SiC particles during FSP and subsequent age hardening treatment brought about nearly twofold increase in hardness and impact toughness values by the combined effect of grain refinement,Zener pinning,dispersion strengthening and precipitation *** improvement in wear resistance in terms of wear loss was also observed after processing compared to the reference material *** surface of post FSP age hardened AA7075 alloy exhibited features of ductile fracture during Charpy impact test.
