Different Asian Monsoon Rainfall Responses to Idealized Orography Sensitivity Experiments in the HadgEM3-gA6 and FgOALS-FAMIL global Climate Models

Recent work has shown the dominance of the Himalaya in supporting the Indian summer monsoon （ISM）, perhaps by surface sensible heating along its southern slope and by mechanical blocking acting to separate moist tropical flow from drier midlatitnde air. Previous studies have also shown that Indian snmmer rainfall is largely unaffected in sensitivity experiments that remove only the tibetan Plateau. However, given the large biases in simulating the monsoon in CMIP5 models, such results may be model dependent. this study investigates the impact of orographic forcing from the tibetan Plateau, Himalaya and Iranian Plateau on the ISM and East Asian snmmer monsoon （EASM） in the UK Met Office＇s HadgEM3-gA6 and China＇s Institute of Atmospheric Physics FgOALS-FAMIL global climate models. the models chosen featnre oppositesigned biases in their simulation of the ISM rainfall and circulation climatology. the changes to ISM and EASM circulation across the sensitivity experiments are similar in both models and consistent with previous studies. However, considerable differences exist in the rainfall responses over India and China, and in the detailed aspects such as onset and retreat dates. In particular, the models show opposing changes in Indian monsoon rainfall when the Himalaya and tibetan Plateau orography are removed. Our results show that a multi-model approach, as suggested in the forthcoming global Monsoon Model Intercomparison Project （gMMIP） associated with CMIP6, is needed to clarify the impact of orographic forcing on the Asian monsoon and to fully understand the implications of model systematic error.

A 72 year-old female developed a herpetic esophagitis after 3 d of oral corticotherapy for an acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease,presenting as odynophagia and total *** were taken during a first esophagogastroduodenoscopy(EgD) and the patient was referred to the thoracic surgery service with a presumptive diagnosis of esophageal cancer.A second EgD was planned for dilatation,but by that time the stenosis was completely *** biopsies taken during the first EgD revealed multiple herpetic viral inclusions and ulcerations without any dysplasia or *** front of a severe esophageal stenosis,one must still exclude the usual differential diagnosis peptic stenosis and *** of endoscopic lesions can suggest the diagnosis but must be promptly confirmed by biopsy,viral culture or polymerase chain *** immune systemic effects of corticotherapy are well known and herpetic esophagitis occurs most frequently in immunocompromised individuals,this case emphasizes the importance of clinical awareness concerning short courses of corticotherapy for immunocompetent *** article discusses the reactivation process of herpetic infection in this context and addresses its diagnostic and therapeutic issues.

thanks to their remarkable mechanical, electrical, thermal, and barrier properties, graphene-based nanocomposites have been a hot area of research in the past decade. Because of their simple top-down synthesis, graphene oxide (gO) and reduced graphene oxide (rgO) have opened new possibilities for gas barrier, membrane separation, and stimuli-response characteristics in nanocomposites. Herein, we review the synthesis techniques most commonly used to produce these graphene derivatives, discuss how synthesis affects their key material properties, and highlight some examples of nanocomposites with unique and impressive properties. We specifically highlight their performances in separation applications, stimuli-responsive materials, anti-corrosion coatings, and energy storage. Finally, we discuss the outlook and remaining challenges in the field of practical industrial-scale production and use of graphene-derivative-based polymer nanocomposites.

the paper is concerned with the generalization of synthetic theory to the modeling of phenomena such as the Bauschinger negative effect, creep delay, reverse and inverse creep. Detailed calculations of plastic/creep strains are accompanied with the construction of loading surfaces that enhance the understanding of the processes studied. the calculated results show satisfactory agreement with experiments.

transcriptional Regulation of Secondary growth and Wood Formation

Secondary growth and wood formation are products of the vascular cambium, a lateral meristem. Although the mechanisms have only recently begun to be uncovered, transcriptional regulation appears increasingly central to the regulation of secondary growth. the importance of transcriptional regulation is illustrated by the correlation of expression of specific classes of genes with related biological processes occurring at specific stages of secondary growth, including cell division, cell expansion, and cell differentiation. At the same time, transcription factors have been characterized that affect specific aspects of secondary growth, including regulation of the cambium and differentiation of cambial daughter cells. In the present review, we summarize evidence pointing to transcription as a major mechanism for regulation of secondary growth, and outline future approaches for comprehensively describing transcriptional networks underlying secondary growth.

the European Male Aging Study has demonstrated that the hypogonadism of male aging is predominantly secondary. theoretically with appropriate stimulation from the pituitary, the aging testis should be able to produce eugonadal levels of testosterone. the strategies for the treatment of late onset hypogonadism （LOH） have focused on replacement with exogenous testosterone versus restoration of endogenous production. the purpose of this article is to review existing peer-reviewed literature supporting the concept of restoration of endogenous testosterone in the treatment of LOH.

BACKgROUND Aminoacyl tRNA synthetases/ligases(ARSs)are highly conserved enzymes involved in attaching amino acids to tRNA promoting protein *** deficiencies of ARSs localized to the mitochondria classically present with neuropathology,the clinical features of cytosolic ARS deficiencies are more *** have previously been associated with neonatal hepatitis,but never with early-onset inflammatory bowel *** SUMMARY A nine-year-old Bangladeshi boy presented with neonatal liver failure and deranged clotting,transaminitis and *** parents were first *** older brothers and a sister were *** patient suffered from loose stools from early infancy which became more troublesome and persistent from five years old with ten bloody motions a *** endoscopies showed persistent pancolitis,which was refractory to mesalazine,corticosteroids,azathioprine,sirolimus and anti-tNF(adalimumab)therapy,but has improved recently with subcutaneous *** genome Sequencing revealed a novel pathogenic missense variant(c.290A>g)in the cytosolic isoleucyl-tRNA synthetase gene,leading to an amino acid substitution(***97gly).Pathogenic variants in other genes associated with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)(ADAM17,EgFR,FOXP3,IL10RA,IL10RB,IL21R,NCF4,StAt3)were *** assays demonstrated markedly elevated IL-2,IL-5,IL-13,IL-9 and IL-10 by the patient’s CD4+t-cells,while IL-17A,IL-17F,IFNβwere lower,and tNFαnot significantly different when compared to healthy *** this case report provides evidence that recessive mutations in cytosolic isoleucyltRNA synthetase are a novel monogenic cause of IBD,which should be considered,particularly in infants and children with a history of neonatal hepatitis and very early-onset IBD poorly responsive to treatment.
