The Trace Element Distribution Patterns of Ediacaran-Early Cambrian Black Shales and the Origin of Selenium in the Guangning Area, Western Guangdong Province, South China

The Ediacaran and early Cambrian black shales are widespread across the South China Craton （Yangtze and Cathaysia blocks）. However, the trace element distribution patterns of the Ediacaran and early Cambrian black shales in the Cathaysia Block are still unclear. In this study, thirty- four black shale samples in the Lechangxia Group （Ediacaran） and thirteen black shale samples in the lower Bacun Group （early Cambrian） from Guangning area, western Guangdong Province, South China, were analyzed for major and trace elements concentrations. Compared to the upper continental crust, the Ediacaran black shales exhibit strongly enriched Se, Ga, and As with enrichment factor values （EF） higher than 10, significantly enrichedBi and Rb （10〉EF〉5）, weakly enriched Mo, Ba, Cs, v, In, Be, TI, and Th （5〉EF〉2）, normal U, Cr, Cd, Sc, Pb, Cu, and Li （2〉EF〉0.5）, and depleted Ni, Zn, Sr, and Co. Early Cambrian black shales display strongly enriched Se, Ga, and As, significantly enriched Ba, Bi, and Rb, weakly enriched Mo, Cs, Cd, v, U, Be, In, and TI, normal Sc, Th, Cr, Li, Cu, Ni, and Pb and depleted Co, Zn, and Sr. Moreover, Se is the most enriched trace element in the Ediacaran and early Cambrian black shales： concentrations vary from 0.25 to 30.09 ppm and 0.54 to 5.01 ppm, and averaging 4.84 and 1.72 ppm, with average EF values of 96.87 and 34.32, for the Ediacaran and early Cambrian shales respectively. The average concentration of Se in the Ediacaran black shales is 2.8 times higher than that of early Cambrian black shales. Se contents in the Ediacaran and early Cambrian black shales exhibit significant variation （P = 0.03）. Provenance analysis showed that Se contents of both the Ediacaran and early Cambrian black shales were without detrital provenance and volcanoclastic sources, hut of hydrothermal origin. Geologic field evidence for non-lithostatic overpressure recorded in the North American Cordillera hinterland,northeast Nevada

There is a long-standing discrepancy for numerous North American Cordillera metamorphic core complexes between geobarometric pressures recorded in the exhumed rocks and their apparent burial depths based on palinspastic reconstructions from geologic field *** particular,metamorphic core complexes in eastern Nevada are comprised of well-documented~12-15 km thick Neoproterozoic-Paleozoic stratigraphy of Laurentia’s western passive margin,which allows for critical characterization of field *** this contribution we focus on the Ruby Mountain-East Humboldt Range-Wood Hills-Pequop Mountains(REWP)metamorphic core complex of northeast Nevada to explore reported peak pressure estimates versus geologic field relationships that appear to prohibit deep *** high pressure estimates of 6-8 kbar(23-30 km depth,if lithostatic)from the lower section of the Neoproterozoic-Paleozoic passive margin sequence require burial and or repetition of the passive margin sequence by 2-3×stratigraphic *** observations from the least migmatized and/or mylonitized parts of this complex,including field observations,a transect of peak-temperature(T_(p))estimates,and critical evaluation of proposed thickening/burial mechanisms cannot account for such deep *** Neoproterozoic-Cambrian(€)rocks part of a continuous stratigraphic section that transitions~8 km upsection to unmetamorphosed Permian strata that were not buried,we obtained new quartz-in-garnet barometry via Raman analysis that suggest pressures of~7 kbar(~26 km).A T_(p)traverse starting at the same basal€rocks reveals a smooth but hot geothermal gradient of≥40℃/km that is inconsistent with deep *** observation is clearly at odds with thermal gradients implied by high P-T estimates that are all≤25℃/*** similar discrepancies between pressure estimates and field observations have been discussed for the northern Snake Range metamorphic core complex,~200 km to the *** argue that

The boundary between cratonic and orogenic lithospheres is a significant seismogenic zones marked by intense lithospheric *** Sichuan Craton(SCC),as a key tectonic block bordering eastern Tibetan Plateau,resists the eastward escape of plateau's crustal materials,resulting in the uplift of the Songpan-Ganzi Block(SGB)and crustal deformation of the Longmenshan tectonic belt(LMTB).To elucidate the compressional structures and deformational modes of the LMTB and SCC,it is essential to accurately determine the location and geometry of the SCC'western *** investigate this issue,the lithospheric properties of the obducted SGB,underthrusting SCC,and LMTB were analyzed using various geophysical data,including seismic reflection profiles,magnetotellurics,aeromagnetics,gravity,and seismic *** SGB crust is characterized by low magnetism,seismic velocity,resistivity and Bouguer gravity,whereas the SCC crust exhibits non-uniform high magnetism,seismic velocity,resistivity and Bouguer *** LMTB,as the boundary between the SGB and SCC,exhibits geophysical characteristics similar to those of the SCC in the southern and central *** integration of these geophysical observations indicate that the SCC's western boundary is situated west of the Wenchuan-Maoxian fault zone in the southern and central segments,exhibiting distinct westward wedging and ***,this boundary aligns with the Yingxiu-Beichuan fault in the northern segment,without significant *** irregular geometry of the SCC's western boundary further elucidates the variation in structural deformation along the *** comparing crustal thickness and lithospheric strength between the SGB and SCC,this study posits that the differing crustal strength between tectonic blocks may control the irregular geometry of the SCC's western boundary.

青藏高原的隆升扩展是印度与欧亚板块碰撞的结果,开展对青藏高原东北部新生代以来构造变形时空演化的研究可以检验各种高原生长模型,对大陆构造研究具有重要意义。青藏高原东北部以新生代祁连山褶皱冲断带和海原走滑断裂为边界。本文通过地质填图、构造解析、电子自旋共振(ESR)测年、磷灰石U-Th/He和裂变径迹分析等方法在青藏高原东北部祁连山褶皱冲断带开展研究,以提高对于青藏高原东北部脆性断层活动和山脉隆升时代及其构造变形过程的认知。

We are gratified that the method developed in our laboratories1 based on agonistic analogs of hypothalamic luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone （LHRH）, also called gonadotropin which was discovered releasing hormone, and characterized by one of us （AvS） in the 1970S, has been used since the early 1980s for the treatment of hormone-dependent prostate cancer.

Sedimentary Paleoenvironment of the Eastern Hexi Corridor, NW China: Constraints from Chert Geochemistry and Sedimentary Analysis of Early Paleozoic Strata

The eastern Hexi Corridor, northwest China, is located at the tectonic junction of the Alxa Block, the North China Craton, and the Qinling-Qilian Orogen. The early Paleozoic Xiangshan Group record critical information regarding paleoenvironment, paleoclimate and paleotectonic setting, from which we here present a focused study on the chert beds within the Xiangshan Group. Through field mapping, microstructural observation, whole-rock geochemistry analyses and detrital zircon dating, we suggest that the Xiangshan Group chert was deposited along a passive continental margin, formed primarily through biological activity with minor hydrothermal influence and terrestrial input. The characteristics of the chert support a low latitude sedimentary paleoenvironmental origin, and reveal the fact that the Alxa Block was separated from the North China craton, while emerged some paleogeographic affinity with the Qilian region in the Middle-Late Cambrian.

Accumulated evidences have demonstrated that signal transducer and activator of transcription 3(STAT3)is a critical link between inflammation and *** studies have indicated that persistent activation of STAT3 in epithelial/tumor cells in inflammation-associated colorectal cancer(CRC)is associated with sphingosine-1-phosphate(S1P)receptor *** inflammatory response whereby interleukin(IL)-6 production is abundant,STAT3-mediated pathways were found to promote the activation of sphingosine kinases(SphK1and SphK2)leading to the production of ***,S1P encourages the activation of STAT3 through a positive autocrine-loop *** crosstalk between IL-6,STAT3 and sphingolipid regulated pathways may play an essential role in tumorigenesis and tumor progression in inflamed *** targeting both STAT3 and sphingolipid are therefore likely to contribute novel and more effective therapeutic strategies against inflammation-associated CRC.

Genomic analysis uncovers functional variation in the C-terminus of anthocyanin-activating MYB transcription factors

MYB transcription factors regulate diverse aspects of plant development and secondary metabolism,often by partnering in transcriptional regulatory ***,we harness genomic resources to identify novel MYBs,thereby producing an updated eudicot MYB phylogeny with revised relationships among subgroups as well as new information on sequence variation in the disordered C-terminus of anthocyanin-activating ***®and hidden Markov model scans of gene annotations identified a total of 714 MYB transcription factors across the genomes of four crops that span the eudicots:apple,grape,kiwifruit and *** model-based phylogenetic inference identified novel members of previously defined subgroups,and the function of specific anthocyanin-activating subgroup 6 members was assayed transiently in tobacco *** conservation within subgroup 6 highlighted one previously described and two novel short linear motifs in the disordered C-terminal *** novel motifs have a mix of hydrophobic and acidic residues and are predicted to be relatively ordered compared with flanking protein *** of motifs with the Eukaryotic Linear Motif database suggests roles in protein–protein *** of motifs and their flanking regions from strong anthocyanin activators into weak activators,and vice versa,affected *** conclude that,although the MYB C-terminal sequence diverges greatly even within MYB clades,variation within the C-terminus at and near relatively ordered regions offers opportunities for exploring MYB function and developing superior alleles for plant breeding.
