Dothideomycetes comprise a highly diverse range of fungi characterized mainly by asci with two wall layers(bitunicate asci)and often with fissitunicate *** species are saprobes,with many asexual states comprising important plant *** are also endophytes,epiphytes,fungicolous,lichenized,or lichenicolous *** occur in terrestrial,freshwater and marine habitats in almost every part of the *** accept 105 families in Dothideomycetes with the new families Anteagloniaceae,Bambusicolaceae,Biatriosporaceae,Lichenoconiaceae,Muyocopronaceae,Paranectriellaceae,Roussoellaceae,Salsugineaceae,Seynesiopeltidaceae and Thyridariaceae introduced in this *** family is provided with a description and notes,including asexual and asexual states,and if more than one genus is included,the type genus is also *** family is provided with at least one figure-plate,usually illustrating the type genus,a list of accepted genera,including asexual genera,and a key to these genera.A phylogenetic tree based on four gene combined analysis add support for 64 of the families and 22 orders,including the novel orders,Dyfrolomycetales,Lichenoconiales,Lichenotheliales,Monoblastiales,Natipusillales,Phaeotrichales and *** paper is expected to provide a working document on Dothideomycetes which can be modified as new data comes to *** is hoped that by illustrating types we provide stimulation and interest so that more work is carried out in this remarkable group of fungi.

Background: We designed and evaluated a low-attenuation oral contrast agent for abdominal-pelvic computed tomography (CT). Methods: In vitro studies, were performed initially to evaluate the imaging characteristics of multiple solutions. These studies resulted in two solutions being compared with the presently accepted oral CT agents of dilute iodinated contrast and water. Ninety-eight consec utive subjects already scheduled for routine outpatient abdominal-pelvic CT were enrolled. Subjects were randomized to water (n = 30), fiber solution (n = 32), polyethylene glycol (PEG; n = 11), or dilute iodinated solution (DI; n = 25). Examinations were then evaluated for gastric distention, small bowel distention, small bowel wall visualization, and colonic transit. A questionnaire was given to the study subjects for feedback concerning taste and potential side effects from these agents. Results: PEG tended to provide better bowel distention, wall visualization, and colonic transit compared with water, fiber solution, and DI. Areas of statistical significance included: (1) average bowel diameter in the left upper quadrant for water was 17.50 mm, whereas that for PEG was 21.88 mm (p ject who received PEG compared with only 20%of those received water and 39%of those who received fiber (p < 0.05). Similar trends for the superiority of PEG over DI were noted, although many of these did not reach statistical significance. Conclusion: PEG solution has imaging characteristics related to bowel wall visualization, luminal distention, and colonic transit that make it an effective oral agent for abdominal pelvic CT examination.

An approximate plate theory developed in this paper is based on an assumed displacement field, the strains described by a taylor series in the normal distancefrom the middle surface, the exact strains of the middle surface and the equations ofequilibrium governing the exact configuration of the deformed middle surface. In thistheory the exact geometry of the deformed middle surface is used to derive the strainsand equilibrium of the plate. Application of this theory does not depend on the constitutive law. This theory can reduce to some existing nonlinear theories through impositionof constraints.

Background &Aims: Effective colonoscopic screening for polyps, whether by optical or virtual means, requires adequate visualization of the entire colonic surface. The purpose of this study was to assess prospectively the degree of surface coverage at 3-dimensional (3D) endoluminal computed tomography colonography (CTC) after retrograde fly-through, combined retrograde-antegrade fly-through, and review of remaining missed regions. Methods: The study group consisted of 223 asymptomatic adults (mean age, 57.8 ±7.2 y; 111 men, 112 women) undergoing primary CTC screening. CTC studies were interpreted by experienced readers using a primary 3D approach. The CTC software system that was used continually tracks the percentage of endoluminal surface visualized. The degree of coverage was assessed prospectively after retrograde and combined retrograde-antegrade navigation. The added effect of reviewing missed regions was also assessed pro- spectively. Results: The mean surface coverage after only retrograde 3D endoluminal fly-through from rectum to cecum was 76.6%±4.8%(range, 63%-92%); coverage was 80%or less in 181 (81.2%) patients. Antegrade navigation back to the rectum increased the overall coverage to 94.1%±2.3%(range, 84%-99%; P < .0001). A review of missed regions 300 mm2 or larger increased coverage to 97.9%±1.1%(range, 93%-99%; P < .0001) and added 21.4 ±11.4 seconds to the interpretation time (range, 3-67 s). Conclusions: Combined bidirectional retrograde and antegrade 3D navigation, supplemented by rapid review of missed regions, effectively covers the entire evaluable surface at CTC. Unidirectional retrograde 3D fly-through typically excludes 20%or more of the endoluminal surface, which may provide insight into potential limitations at optical colonoscopy.
