BACKGROUNd Aprotinin has recently been associated with adverse outcomes in patients undergoing cardiac *** reviewed our experience with this agent in patients undergoing cardiac surgery at duke University Medical Center. METHOdS We retrieved data on 10,275 consecutive patients undergoing surgical coronary revascularization at duke between January 1,1996,and december 31,*** fit data to a logistic-regression model predicting each patient’s likelihood of receiving aprotinin on the basis of preoperative characteristics and to models predicting long-term survival(up to 10 years) and decline in renal function,as measured by increases in serum creatinine levels. RESULTS A total of 1343 patients(13.2%) received aprotinin,6776 patients(66.8%) received aminocaproic acid,and 2029 patients(20.0%) received no antifibrinolytic therapy. All patients underwent coronary-artery bypass grafting,and 1181 patients(11.5%) underwent combined coronary-artery bypass grafting and valve *** the risk-adjusted model,survival was worse among patients treated with aprotinin,with a main-effects hazard ratio for death of 1.32(95%confidence interval[CI],1.12 to 1.55) for the comparison with patients receiving no antifibrinolytic therapy(P=0.003) and 1.27(95%CI,1.10 to 1.46) for the comparison with patients receiving aminocaproic acid(P=0.004).As compared with the use of aminocaproic acid or no antifibrinolytic agent,aprotinin use was also associated with a larger risk-adjusted increase in the serum creatinine level(Pdjusted incidence of dialysis(P=0.56). CONCLUSIONS Patients who received aprotinin had a higher mortality rate and larger increases in serum creatinine levels than those who received aminocaproic acid or no antifibrinolytic agent.

Numerous researchers have examined the co-current flow of oil-water and aqueous solutions containing polymers and surfactants in thin gaps for oil *** some have focused on charges and forces at the interfaces of oil-surfactant solutions during *** study of flow structures,interface behavior,and relative permeabilities of oil and aqueous phases of surfactant flow through thin gaps has been less *** the first time,this research aims to comprehensively investigate the flow of oil-water and oil-surfactant solutions through a thin gap(Hele-shaw cell)with a particular focus on the impact of sodium dodecyl sulfate(SdS).The experiments reveal that SdS forms an emulsion near the oil-water interface,capturing oil droplets and enabling their flow along with the SdS *** studies confirm this,showing that when SdS contacts oil,it creates channels through the oil phase,leading to the accumulation and division of oil into small round-shaped droplets,resulting in an oil-in-water *** addition of SdS to the injecting water significantly enhances relative permeabilities,leading to a remarkable 90%increase in oil recovery from the *** research suggests that the optimal SdS concentration range for maximum oil recovery is between 1.5 and 2 wt%,as it achieves the minimum interfacial tension between oil and water.

Our goal is to develop a facile process to create patterns of inorganic oxides and metals on a substrate that can act as hard masks. These materials should have high etch contrast （compared to silicon） and so allow high-aspect-ratio, high- fidelity pattern transfer whilst being readily integrable in modem semiconductor fabrication （FAB friendly）. Here, we show that ultra-small-dimension hard masks can be used to develop large areas of densely packed vertically and horizontally orientated Si nanowire arrays. The inorganic and metal hard masks （Ni, NiO, and ZnO） of different morphologies and dimensions were formed using microphase- separated polystyrene-b-poly（ethylene oxide）（PS-b-PEO） block copolymer （BCP） thin films by varying the BCP molecular weight, annealing temperature, and annealing solvent（s）. The self-assembled polymer patterns were solvent-processed, and metal ions were included into chosen domains via a selective inclusion method. Inorganic oxide nanopatterns were subsequently developed using standard techniques. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy studies show that high-aspect-ratio pattern transfer could be affected by standard plasma etch techniques. The masking ability of the different materials was compared in order to create the highest quality uniform and smooth sidewall profiles of the Si nanowire arrays. Notably good performance of the metal mask was seen, and this could impact the use of these materials at small dimensions where conventional methods are severely limited.

In this essay, the authors discuss the neglected state of organizational-level turnover research in the Chinese context. They provide a brief overview of the importance of turnover research in the organizational sciences, highlight the role of performance-related turnover rates research, and outline general theories and findings that appear in the Western and English-language literature. This evidence is compared with a dearth of studies using samples of Chinese organizations and in Chinese-language journals. They conclude by calling for additional theory and empirical studies on turnover rates.
