Iodoacetic acid exposure alters the transcriptome in mouse ovarian antral follicles

Iodoacetic acid(IAA) is an unregulated water disinfection byproduct that is an ovarian toxicant. However, the mechanisms of action underlying IAA toxicity in ovarian follicles remain unclear. Thus, we determined whether IAA alters gene expression in ovarian follicles in mice. Adult female mice were dosed with water or IAA(10 or 500 mg/L) in the water for 35-40 days. Antral follicles were collected for RNA-sequencing analysis and sera were collected to measure estradiol. RNA-sequencing analysis identified 1063 differentially expressed genes(DEGs) in the 10 and 500 mg/L IAA groups(false discovery rate FDR < 0.1), respectively, compared to controls. Gene Ontology Enrichment analysis showed that DEGs were involved with RNA processing and regulation of angiogenesis(10 mg/L) and the cell cycle and cell division(500 mg/L). Pathway Enrichment analysis showed that DEGs were involved in the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase and protein kinase B(PI3K-Akt), gonadotropin-releasing hormone(Gn RH), estrogen, and insulin signaling pathways(10 mg/L). Pathway Enrichment analysis showed that DEGs were involved in the oocyte meiosis, Gn RH, and oxytocin signaling pathways(500 mg/L). RNA-sequencing analysis identified 809 DEGs when comparing the 500 and 10 mg/L IAA groups(FDR < 0.1). DEGs were related to ribosome, translation, m RNA processing, oxidative phosphorylation, chromosome, cell cycle, cell division, protein folding, and the oxytocin signaling pathway. Moreover, IAA exposure significantly decreased estradiol levels(500 mg/L) compared to control. This study identified key candidate genes and pathways involved in IAA toxicity and can help to further understand the molecular mechanisms of IAA toxicity in ovarian follicles.

鉴于当前气候变化和人类活动的影响,生物多样性的空间预测对其保护和修复至关重要。本文将不同堆叠物种分布模型(stacked species distribution models,S-SDMs)的预测结果与森林清查数据进行了比较,以评估这些S-SDMs模型能否捕获生物多样性热点地区物种丰富度的新特性和地理分布及局部群落的组成。我们选取大西洋沿岸森林151处地点的1499个树种进行SDM模型构建,并利用4种模型堆叠方法重建植物群落。这43种方法分别为二进制SDM模型(bS-SDM)、由最小凸多边形裁剪得到的二进制SDM模型(bS-SDM-CROP)、受物种丰富度观测结果约束的堆叠SDM模型(cS-SDM)以及物种出现点的最小凸多边形(MCP)。我们从物种丰富度、组成、群落预测指标以及β多样性组分(物种嵌套和物种周转)等方面将各堆叠方法与局部群落进行对比。研究结果表明,所有S-SDM模型均捕获到了一般分布格局,其中bS-SDM-CROP模型最为简约。各堆叠模型预测得到的物种组成与局部群落的实际情况存在一定的差异,其中bS-SDM、bS-SDM-CROP和MCP模型呈现出嵌套格局,而物种周转在cS-SDM模型中最为显著。这些S-SDM模型在性能、遗漏率和记账错率方面的表现各不相同,对一些脆弱、濒危和极度濒危物种给出了错误预测。尽管与森林清查数据有差别,但这些S-SDM模型均捕获了与局部群落数据的部分差异,可以表征物种的潜在分布区。本研究的结论有助于S-SDM模型在粗尺度生物多样性整合与保护规划中的应用,但在生物高度多样性地区局部尺度上可能会得出错误的预测结果。

Rice Drying,Storage and Processing:Effects of Post-Harvest Operations on Grain Quality

Various post-harvest processes of rice are commonly employed,especially during the off-season,to ensure its consumption feasibility,which often affect the grain *** forms of drying,storage and processing of rice are evaluated to identify their effects on grain *** drying has emerged as an alternative to the widely-used intermittent-drying and fixed-bed-dryer methods of drying paddy *** of drying-air temperatures(between 40℃ and 60℃)according to the rice variety can improve quality,especially for exotic *** stored grain in hygroscopic balance,with water content between 11%to 15%,at temperatures between 16℃ and 20℃ and with intergranular relative humidity near 60%,allows 12 months of storage in a controlled environment without significant *** innovations,notably the application of artificial refrigeration to grain stored in bulk in vertical cylindrical silos and the use of impermeable packaging for storage,ensure the conservation of grain *** different stages and equipments used to obtain polished,brown and parboiled rice result in significant changes in the nutritional value of rice because of the removal of the outermost layers of the *** reduces the nutritional value and physical homogeneity of *** rice retains more bioactive compounds and nutrients because it does not lose the outer layer of the grains in the polishing *** rice,although less nutritious than brown rice,has better grain integrity and milling yield and less loss of nutrients than white rice.

Characterization of soil fauna under the influence of mercury atmospheric deposition in Atlantic Forest, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

The increasing levels of mercury（Hg） found in the atmosphere arising from anthropogenic sources, have been the object of great concern in the past two decades in industrialized countries. Brazil is the seventh country with the highest rate of mercury in the *** major input of Hg to ecosystems is through atmospheric deposition（wet and dry）, being transported in the atmosphere over large distances. The forest biomes are of strong importance in the atmosphere/soil cycling of elemental Hg through foliar uptake and subsequent transference to the soil through litter, playing an important role as sink of this element. Soil microarthropods are keys to understanding the soil ecosystem, and for such purpose were characterized by the soil fauna of two Units of Forest Conservation of the state of the Rio de Janeiro, inwhich one of the areas suffer quite interference from petrochemicals and industrial anthropogenic activities and other area almost exempts of these perturbations. The results showed that soil and litter of the Atlantic Forest in Brazil tend to stock high mercury concentrations, which could affect the abundance and richness of soil fauna, endangering its biodiversity and thereby the functioning of ecosystems.
