As sessile organisms, plants are exposed to pathogen invasions and environmental fluctuations. To overcome the challenges of their surroundings, plants acquire the potential to sense endogenous and exogenous cues, resulting in their adaptability. Hence, plants have evolved a large collection of plasma membrane-resident receptors, including RECEPTOR-LIKE KINASEs(RLKs) and RECEPTOR-LIKE PROTEINs(RLPs) to perceive those signals and regulate plant growth,development, and immunity. The ability of RLKs and RLPs to recognize distinct ligands relies on diverse categories of extracellular domains evolved. Co-regulatory receptors are often required to associate with RLKs and RLPs to facilitate cellular signal transduction. RECEPTOR-LIKE CYTOPLASmIC KINASEs(RLCKs) also associate with the complex, bifurcating the signal to key signaling hubs, such as mITOGEN-ACTIVATED PROTEIN KINASE(mAPK) cascades, to regulate diverse biological processes. Here, we discuss recent knowledge advances in understanding the roles of RLKs and RLPs in plant growth, development, and immunity, and their connection with co-regulatory receptors, leading to activation of diverse intracellular signaling pathways.

This case presents a rarely seen combination of two Cocaine-induced syndromes occurring simultaneously. Levamisole-adultered cocaine leads to Levamisole-induced Vasculitis (LIV), while cocaine’s vasoconstrictive effect causes destruction of the osteo-cartilaginous structures of nose called Cocaine-induced midline destructive lesions (CImDL). This case raises awareness of a new pattern of recognition in order to avoid misdiagnosis. We present a case of a 51-year-old male cocaine user who developed severe left-sided ear pain and yellowish secretions with circular necrotic lesions in the nose, right earlobe, and dorsum of feet bilaterally. An extensive workup to assess purpuric lesions’ etiology, including vasculitis, collagen vasculitides, anti-phospholipid syndrome, hypercoagulable state and infectious process, was performed and found negative. He developed bilateral tympanic membrane perforation and purpuric necrotic skin lesions, at the same time, due to CImDL and LIV, respectively. These two syndromes rarely present simultaneously in a patient. This case report exhibits a new Cocaine-induced clinical presentation that will help hospitalists recognize the disease and avoid misdiagnosis leading to unnecessary tests, prolonged hospitalization, and higher healthcare costs. Diagnosis is challenging, as it consists of establishing a temporal relationship between cocaine ingestion and symptoms’ onset. This disease usually has a benign progression because symptoms frequently resolve without intervention.

Overexpression of neurotrophic factors in nigral dopamine neurons is a promising approach to reverse neurodegeneration of the nigrostriatal dopamine system,a hallmark in Parkinson's *** human cerebral dopamine neurotrophic factor(h CDNF)has recently emerged as a strong candidate for Parkinson's disease *** study shows that h CDNF expression in dopamine neurons using the neurotensinpolyplex nanoparticle system reverses 6-hydroxydopamine-induced morphological,biochemical,and behavioral *** independent electron microscopy techniques showed that the neurotensin-polyplex nanoparticles containing the h CDNF gene,ranging in size from 20 to 150 nm,enabled the expression of a secretable h CDNF in *** injection in the substantia nigra compacta on day 21 after the 6-hydroxydopamine lesion resulted in detectable h CDNF in dopamine neurons,whose levels remained constant throughout the study in the substantia nigra compacta and *** with the lesioned group,tyrosine hydroxylase-positive(TH^(+))nigral cell population and TH+fiber density rose in the substantia nigra compacta and striatum after h CDNF *** increase inβIII-tubulin and growth-associated protein 43 phospho-S41(GAP43 p)followed TH^(+)cell recovery,as well as dopamine and its catabolite *** reversal(80%)of drugactivated circling behavior and full recovery of spontaneous motor and non-motor behavior were ***-derived neurotrophic factor recovery in dopamine neurons that also occurred suggests its participation in the neurotrophic *** findings support the potential of nanoparticle-mediated h CDNF gene delivery to develop a disease-modifying treatment against Parkinson's *** Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee of Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados approved our experimental procedures for animal use(authorization No.162-15)on June 9,2019.

Perovskite materials are great candidates for thermoelectric applications because they have a large Seebeck coefficient, low production costs and high chemical stability at high temperatures. Nanostructuration, especially with nanowire shape, can be the key to develop high efficient thermoelectric materials. In this work, Nd 1?x Ca x CoO 3 perosvkite nanowires, with Ca as a dopant, have been synthesized by the hydrothermal method with the purpose of using them in thermoelectric applications at room temperature. The best thermoelectric efficiency has been obtained for a Ca content of x = 0.2. The electrical conductivity and Seebeck coefficient are strongly related to the calcium content, while the thermal conductivity (0.3 W·m -1 ·K -1 ) is clearly lower than that of bulk materials.

The small-eared shrew genus Cryptotis is the third largest in the family Soricidae and occurs in North,Central,and northern South *** mexico and Central and South America,most species inhabit geographically isolated moist,montane habitats at middle and high elevations in a typical sky-island *** 49 recognized species have been partitioned into as many as six species groups based on morphological and molecular phylogenetic *** relationships among these species groups are poorly resolved,and their evolutionary histories,including migration patterns and locomotor adaptations,remain ***,we provide a new phylogeny incorporating complete mitochondrial genomes(mitogenomes)and supermatrix *** compared different evolutionary scenarios using approximately unbiased(AU),Kishino-Hasegawa(KH),and Shimodaira-Hasegawa(SH)statistical *** phylogenetic hypothesis based on mitogenomes revealed novel relationships supporting a basal position for the Cryptotis parvusgroup in the genus,and a close relationship between *** and one clade of the *** former relationship is consistent with the least derived humerus morphology and northern distribution of the *** latter relationship i mplies multiple migrations between Central and South *** lack of fine resolution for the species group relationships may be due partly to the lack of taxon *** contrast,multi-approach analyses suggest that the unresolved relationships may be a result of rapid diversification during the early stages of Cryptotis evolution.

Inspired by recent experimental results,the electronic and magnetic properties of sulfur-passivated ZnO clusters and zigzag nanoribbons have been studied using fi rst principles calculations in the framework of the local spin density *** the case of the ZnO nanoribbons,the sulfur atoms or thiol groups were attached in different ways to the zinc or oxygen atoms located at the edges,whereas in clusters,the sulfur atoms were set on the surface,mainly interacting with atoms with low-coordinate *** an exhaustive atomic relaxation,we found that a magnetic moment emerges in zigzag nanoribbons both with and without sulfur-passivation on the ***,the magnitude of the magnetic moment is very sensitive to sulfur *** particular,we found that when sulfur is attached to the zinc atoms in an alternating fashion along the ribbon edges,the magnetic moment is a maximum(1.4μB/unit cell).In the case of clusters,we found that the Zn_(15)O_(15) cluster exhibits a high spin moment of 5.5μB when capped with sulfur *** calculations indicate that sulfur-passivating of ZnO nanosystems could be responsible for recently observed ferromagnetic responses.

This paper addresses the control design and the experimental validation of a current mode control for a three phase voltage source rectifier. The proposed control law is able to fulfill the voltage regulation and the current tracking control objectives despite of unbalanced and distorted grid voltages. The proposed control law consists of two loops, which are referred as inner tracking loop and the outer voltage regulation loop. The inner loop is designed to provide damping to the system, which also includes and adaptive mechanism. The construction of the current reference is based on the positive component detection of thegrid voltage. Therefore, the current produced by the power rectifier is proportional to the fundamental component of the grid voltage, despite of the presence of unbalanced grid voltages. The voltage regulation loop is designed as a proportional-integral controller, which is aimed to regulate the DC output voltage to a desired level. Finally, experimental results are obtained in an experimental prototype of2 kW to evaluate the performance of the proposed controller.
