Mining and utilization of salinity tolerant legumes in tropical coastal agroecosystems: An overview

Following the launch in Spring 2009 and operations of the GOCE satellite（Gravity field and steady state Ocean Circulation Explorer）,a new mission made bya long-distance（10 km）satellite formation is under study by European Space *** aims at monitoring,during a 6-year mission,Earth’s gravity field fluctuations more or less in the same wavelength band of GOCE（around 100-km Earth surface grid）.As GOCE is the first’truly’drag-free satellite,the envisaged formation is expected to be the first drag-free formation,posing a suite of challenging technology and control problems under study and solution,*** have demonstrated the mission must be *** paper concentrates on a triad of control problems to be solved and coordinated,namely formation,drag-free and attitude,all of them being highly constrained by a long-life low-Earth-orbit mission imposing low propellant mass and therefore electric propulsion,by scarce propulsion throttabilityof electric thrusters and limited electric *** will be presented and how they can be met through Embedded Model Control will be *** simulated results are included.

Coastal saline soils are increasing year by year caused by climate change and human *** of the coastal saline soils are idle due to their high salinity level and few crops can grow *** tolerant legumes are naturally tolerant to salt,which can ecologically cover the coastal saline soil,enhance soil fertility by symbiotic nitrogen fixation and increase the smallholder farmers’benefits in terms of forage,green manure,food or ***,few reports are available for the systematic evaluation of salinity tolerant *** review summarizes and evaluates currently available salinity tolerant legume species that could potentially be used and discusses their potential for integration into smallholder mixed coastal systems of the Asia-Pacific *** four salinity tolerant legumes were summarized,six of them showed a high level of salinity tolerance,17 of them showed a moderate level of salinity tolerance and 21 of them showed potential salinity tolerance but need to be further *** gaps such as combined tolerance evaluation,nitrogen fixation efficiency,animal feeding experiments and salinity tolerant rhizobia screening/inoculants *** studies demonstrate legumes could be used to reclaim coastal saline soils,but commitment and support from government and public services are necessary to address both seed system and extension needs,through the provision of adequate incentives,policies and development efforts.

Chronic kidney disease is currently a major public health problem around the world. Although hemodialysis increases survival of patients with end-stage renal disease, kidney transplantation remains the only potentially curative treatment. However, transplantation as a therapeutic option is limited by availability of suitable donor organs. This situation highlights the urgent need to find new and potentially inexhaustible sources of transplantable organs. Perfusion decellularizarion of whole organs is a novel approach to organ engineering and regeneration. In the present research, we used a continuous perfusion decellularization protocol to eliminate cellular componet of kidney and evaluated residual scaffold components after decellularizarion process by proteomics analysis. Our proteomic data show that this protocol results in incomplete removal of cellular proteins. However, unlike other authors, we assume that proteins retained within decellularized kidney scaffold could be the basis for specific homing and celular differentation in the recellularization process.

随着世界范围内对水泥的需求持续提升,水泥的生产过程对环境所产生的影响日益凸显,这促使世界各地的研究人员寻找新的替代胶凝剂。固然,目前阶段不可能找到新的功能全面的胶凝剂来完全替代水泥,但是对于水泥的部分替代都会对碳排放以及环境有着巨大的意义,这个研究领域的进步都将会一定程度地减少水泥的需求。基于此,本文拟详细研究其中一种新型有趣的替代品。微生物诱导碳酸盐沉积(MICP)是一项环境友好型土壤改性技术,近年来已受到众多研究者的关注。然而其由于使用活体微生物来处理土壤从而受到某些国家的禁止,其认为活体微生物会在耗尽土壤中的营养后进入休眠状态。已有相关研究讨论活体微生物在该改性技术中是否是必需的,例如有研究认为微生物细胞能够为碳酸钙沉积提供初始的必要的核。本文关于该课题进行如下三部分的论述。本文第一部分集中深入对于MICP技术的研究现状进行了文献综述,并对酶促碳酸盐沉积(ECP)技术进行介绍。该技术使用酶(植物酶、微生物释放的酶等)而不是活体微生物来作为催化剂从而诱导沉积的生成。这种技术对于那些禁止使用活体微生物的国家和地区而言是非常有意义的。第二部分讲述了本课题的实验部分。研究了不用活体微生物来诱导沉积生成的可能性,对不同种类的酶的效果都进行了研究和比较,菌液、上清液及植物酶所处理的样品UCS平均值分别为14.84±8.68 MPa、4.08±4.13 MPa及8.88±3.76 MPa;并比较了反向注入法和表面入渗法这两种广泛使用的灌浆方法的效果。表面入渗法制造了不饱和的灌浆环境从而使得碳酸盐沉淀生成在颗粒连接处等关键位置,从而能够提高了样品强度。本文检验了这一现象。反向注入法和表面入渗法所得样品的UCS平均值分别为19.71±5.86 Mpa及15.07±5.73 Mpa。本文所讨论的这项技术仍处于不断的发展过程中,所以目前就经济性而言仍不能满足当前相应产业的需求,只能应用于那些不十分重视经济性而是重视环境保护的领域。但随着该技术的不断发展完善,其成本会逐渐降低,从而在地基处理等行业成为水泥的一个可能的替代者。本文论述了该技术的一些实际应用,并对不同技术的经济性进行了简要介绍。

Granulocyte Colony Stimulating Factor and MT1-MMP Involved in Development of Atherosclerosis in Apolipoprotein E-Deficient Mice

Objectives Genetic deficiency of macrophage colony stimulating factor （M-CSF） in atherosclerosis-prone （apoE-/-） mice markedly reduces formation of atheroma. But Little is known about the potential effects of other colony stimulating factors（ CSF）, such as granulocyte CSF（ G-CSF）, on atherosclerosis. This study tested the hypothesis that G-CSF would be involved in development of atherosclerotic plaque. Methods apoE-/- mice fed with a Western-style diet （0. 15% cholesterol） were injected subcutaneously with recombinant human G-CSF（ 10 rag/day） dally for 9 weeks then sacrificed. The matrix metalloproteinase （MMP） 2 and MMP9 in serum of mice were measured by Gelatin Zymography analysis and c-kit and membrane typel-MMP （MT1-MMP） antigens were detected using fluorescence activated cell sorting （FACS）. Meanwhile, complete blood counts （CBC） and serum cholesterol, relative fractions of VLDL, LDL, and HDL were evaluated by spectrophotometric techniques and high performance liquid chromatography （HPLC） respectively. Atherosclerotic Lesions of the aorta were also analyzed by histological methods. Results G-CSF treatment resulted in increased proportions of circulating monocytes （ 6.9 ± 2. 2 % vs. 3.8 ± 0. 3 % ; P 〈 0. 05 ）, and decreased serum levels of total cholesterol（ 1225 ± 594 vs. 1991 ± 1009; P 〈 0. 005 ） compared to control mice. A greater proportion of bone marrow cells from G-CSF treated mice expressed MT1-MMP （ 14. 5 ± 5.5% vs. 6. 2 ± 5.0%, P 〈 0. 05 ） compared to bone marrow cells from vehicle treated mice. G-CSF treatment was also associated with smaller atheromatous plaque, and decreased oil red O staining. Conclusions G-CSF lowers serum cholesterol, increases circulating monocytes, increases bone marrow cell expression of MT1-MMP, inhibits plaque development, and decreases lipid and macrophage infiltration into developing plaque.

Importance-performance analysis: Revisiting a tool for the evaluation of clinical services

The importance-performance analysis method (IPA) is used in market research in order to measure the level of customer satisfaction. The aim of this study was to evaluate and highlight the use of IPA as a management tool to measure quality of dental services. We suggest that this method can be easily implemented in a dental educational setting, as a performance outcome measure that includes patient input. The study was conducted in a dental service through a valid questionnaire, SERVQUAL. This instrument explores levels of service quality perceived by patients. It was conducted in four companies in Brazil in 2011 (derived from different industry segments;two from textiles, one from hospital care and the other from the manufacturing industry) in two States (S?o Paulo and Minas Gerais). These companies were covered by the same dental managed care organization which contracted with independent dentists to provide care. The study was divided into two stages: the first, in which beneficiaries answered the questionnaire prior to receiving dental treatment, and the second when the same beneficiaries answered after completing their dental treatment. Data obtained from SERVQUAL generated graphs that were used to characterize the IPA matrix using several dimensions of care. The Assurance Dimension had the highest average in both expectation and perception. The Reliability dimension showed the value of the most negative GAP among the dimensions, and the best value occurred in the Responsiveness dimension. The IPA tool may be effective in Dental Medicine since it highlights the key points to be improved in the delivery of dental services in a clinical setting.
