We report the charge-changing cross sections(σ_(cc))of 24 p-shell nuclides on both hydrogen and carbon at about 900A MeV,of which^(8,9)Li,^(10–12)Be,^(10,14,15)B,^(14,15,17–22)N and^(16)O on hydrogen and^(8,9)Li on carbon are for the first *** from the data set,we found a new and robust relationship between the scaling factor of the Glauber model calculations and the separation energies of the nuclei of interest on both *** allows us to deduce proton radii(R_p)for the first time from the cross sections on *** identical R_p values are deduced from both target data for the neutron-rich carbon isotopes;however,the R_p from the hydrogen target is systematically smaller in the neutron-rich nitrogen *** calls for further experimental and theoretical investigations.

A Raman laser system for multi-wavelength satellite laser ranging

In order to develop a laser system for multi-wavelength satellite laser ranging, the joint group of the Shanghai Astronomical Observatory and the Czech Technical University has studied the conversion efficiency of the Raman-shifting beam and its spatial characteristics. We adopted a 0.53 μm laser with pulse width of 35 ps and peak energy of 35 mJ, the second harmonic of a Nd:YAG actively and passively mode-locked laser, to pump a one-meter-long Raman tube which is full of H2 with high pressure at the Prague-based laboratory. We get the first Stokes laser (0.68 μm): 7 mJ (single pulse) with beam divergence of 40″ (arcsecond) and spatial wobbling of less than 4″; and the first anti-Stokes laser (0.43 μm): 2 mJ (single pulse) with divergence of 56″ and spatial wobbling of less than 4″. The emitting beam from the Raman cell also includes 0.53 μm: 10 mJ (single pulse) with divergence of 40″ and spatial wobbling of less than 7″. According to the radar link equation and based on the above obtained multi-wavelength’s energy, we can estimate the detection probabilities for three colors respectively. It is shown by the result that the developed multi-wavelength Raman laser system has the capability of satellite ranging. The Raman laser system will be installed at the laser station in Shanghai Astronomical Observatory to research the multi-wavelength satellite laser ranging.

Small-extracellular vesicles and their microRNA cargo from porcine follicular fluids:the potential association with oocyte quality

Background: Ovarian follicular fluids(FFs) contain several kinds of regulatory factors that maintain a suitable micro-environment for oocyte development. Extracellular vesicles(EVs) are among the factors that play essential roles in regulating follicle and oocyte development through their cargo molecules that include microRNAs(miRNAs). This study aimed to investigate small-EV(s-EV) miRNAs in porcine FFs and their potential association with oocyte ***: Individual aspirated oocytes were stained with lissamine green B stain(LB), a vital stain for oocyte quality, and each oocyte was classified as high-quality(unstained;HQ) or low-quality(stained;LQ). FFs corresponding to oocytes were pooled together into HQ and LQ groups. Small-EVs were isolated from FFs, characterized, and their miRNA cargo was identified using the Illumina Nova Seq sequencing platform. Additionally, s-EVs from the HQ and LQ groups were utilized to investigate their effect on oocyte development after co-incubation during in vitro ***: A total of 19 miRNAs(including miR-125b, miR-193a-5p, and miR-320) were significantly upregulated, while 23(including miR-9, miR-206, and miR-6516) were downregulated in the HQ compared to the LQ group. Apoptosis, p53 signaling, and cAMP signaling were among the top pathways targeted by the elevated miRNAs in the HQ group while oocyte meiosis, gap junction, and TGF-beta signaling were among the top pathways targeted by the elevated miRNAs in the LQ group. The supplementation of small-EVs during maturation does not affect the oocyte developmental rates. However, LQ s-EVs increase the proportion of oocytes with homogeneous mitochondrial distribution and decrease the proportion of heterogeneous ***: Our findings indicated that FF-EVs contain different miRNA cargos associated with oocyte quality and could affect the mitochondrial distribution patterns during oocyte maturation.

Impact of the microenvironment on the pathogenesis of mucosaassociated lymphoid tissue lymphomas

Approximately 8%of all non-Hodgkin lymphomas are extranodal marginal zone B cell lymphomas of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue(MALT),also known as MALT *** arise at a wide range of different extranodal sites,with most cases affecting the stomach,the lung,the ocular adnexa and the *** small intestine is involved in a lower percentage of *** growth in the early stages is associated with long-lasting chronic inflammation provoked by bacterial infections(e.g.,Helicobacter pylori or Chlamydia psittaci infections)or autoimmune conditions(e.g.,Sjögren’s syndrome or Hashimoto thyroiditis).While these inflammatory processes trigger lymphoma cell proliferation and/or survival,they also shape the ***,activated immune cells are actively recruited to the lymphoma,resulting in either direct lymphoma cell stimulation via surface receptor interactions and/or indirect lymphoma cell stimulation via secretion of soluble factors like *** addition,chronic inflammatory conditions cause the acquisition of genetic alterations resulting in autonomous lymphoma cell ***,novel agents targeting the microenvironment have been developed and clinically tested in MALT lymphomas as well as other lymphoid *** this review,we aim to describe the composition of the microenvironment of MALT lymphoma,the interaction of activated immune cells with lymphoma cells and novel therapeutic approaches in MALT lymphomas using immunomodulatory and/or microenvironmenttargeting agents.

Antibacterial properties of lucifensin in Lucilia sericata maggots after septic injury

Objective:To investigate the antibacterial properties of lucifensin in maggots of IjicUia sericala after septic ***:In our preliminary study we have shown that injuring the maggots with a needle soaked in lipopolysaccharide solution induced within 24 h lucifensin expression in the fat body and in the grease coupler of the salivary *** is assumed that lucifensin is secreted solely from this tissue into the haemoiymph(similar to other insect defensins) and not into secreted/excreted *** used high-performance liquid chromatography fractionation and radial diffusion assay to investigate the antibacterial properties of haemoiymph extracted from larvae after septic ***:After septic injury,production of lucifensin in the haemoiymph is *** led to higher antibacterial activity of such haemoiymph in comparison to non-stimulated ***:These results suggest that beside the previously demonstrated role of lucifensin in the debridement therapy,lucifensin is simultaneously important as a part of the systematic immune response.

Satellite laser ranging experiment with sub-centimeter single-shot ranging precision at Shanghai Observatory

The Shanghai Astronomical Observatory, Chinese Academy of Sciences, incollaboration with the Czech Technical University, carried out the experiment of satellite laser ranging with sub-centimeter precision in Shanghai in August 2001. A pico-second event timer was used for the measurement of the time interval between the transmitted and returned laser pulses for Lageos 1, 2, Starlette, Stella, Topex/Poseiden and ERS-2 in coordination with the existing laser transmitting and receiving system at the Shanghai Observatory. The analysis of the measurement showed that the single-shot ranging precision with these satellites is 7-8 mm. In order to compare ranging precision, the existing ranging system has tracked simultaneously these satellites and obtained the ranging precision of 12-15 mm. It means that the ranging precision with the new system is 80% better thanthe existing system. The systematic biases with the existing system have also been checked in the experiment.
