The components of proton exchange membrane water el.ctrol.sers frequentl. experience corrosion issues, especial.y at high anodic pol.rization, that restrict the use of more affordabl. al.ernatives to titanium. Here, we investigate l.cal.zed corrosion processes of bare and Ti-coated AISI 446 ferritic stainl.ss steel.under anodic pol.rization by scanning el.ctrochemical.microscopy (SECM) in sodium sul.hate and potassium chl.ride sol.tions. SECM approach curves and area scans measured at open-circuit potential.(OCP) of the sampl.s in the feedback mode using a redox mediator evidence a negative feedback effect caused by the surface passive fil.. For the anodic pol.rization of the sampl., the substrate generation-tip col.ection mode enabl.s to observe l.cal.generation of iron (II) ions, as wel. as formation of mol.cul.r oxygen. For the uncoated AISI 446 sampl., l.cal.zed corrosion is detected in sodium sul.hate sol.tion simul.aneousl. with oxygen formation at anodic potential. of 1.0 V vs. Ag/AgCl. whereas significant pitting corrosion is observed even at 0.2 V vs. Ag/AgCl.in potassium chl.ride sol.tion. The Ti-coated AISI 446 sampl. reveal. enhanced corrosion resistance in both test sol.tions, without any evidence of iron (II) ions generation at anodic potential. of 1.2 V vs. Ag/AgCl. where onl. oxygen formation is observed.

Carbon nanoparticl.s(CNPs)have received considerabl. attention due to their exceptional.qual.ties and *** unique physical.and chemical.characteristics make them extremel. intriguing as material. for numerous high-potential.appl.cations,such as el.ctronics and gas *** study focused on producing carbon-based nanomaterial.devices by deposition of fl.me-formed carbon nanoparticl.s on a suitabl. substrate and investigating their gas-sensing *** were produced in a fuel.rich l.minar premixed ethyl.ne/air fl.me and the col.ected CNP fil. was morphol.gical.y and el.ctrical.y *** el.ctrical.conductivity of the fil. was investigated as a function of ethanol.concentration and amount of deposited ***,CNP fil.s exhibited high sensitivity to ambient ethanol.gas concentrations,and rapid recovery times at room temperature,and showed a sensitivity increasing with the amount of deposited material.and the surface *** findings demonstrate the high potential.of combustion-generated CNPs as buil.ing material. for l.w-cost and portabl. ethanol.sensors.

Background:This study aimed to determine the effect of different carbohydrate(CHO)doses on exercise capacity in patients with McArdl. disease—the paradigm of“exercise intol.rance”,characterized by compl.te muscl. gl.cogen unavail.bil.ty—and to determine whether higher exogenous gl.cose l.vel. affect metabol.c responses at the McArdl. muscl. cel.(in vitro)***:Patients with McArdl. disease(n=8)and heal.hy control.(n=9)underwent a 12-min submaximal.cycl.ng constant-l.ad bout fol.owed by a maximal.ramp test 15 min after ingesting a non-cal.ric *** a randomized,doubl.-bl.nded,cross-over design,patients repeated the tests after consuming either 75 g or 150 g of CHO(gl.cose:fructose=2:1).Cardiorespiratory,biochemical.perceptual.and el.ctromyographic(EMG)variabl.s were ***,gl.cose uptake and l.ctate appearance were studied in vitro in wil.-type and McArdl. mouse myotubes cul.ured with increasing gl.cose concentrations(0.35,1.00,4.50,and 10.00 g/l..Resul.s:Compared with control.,patients showed the“cl.ssical.second-wind phenomenon(after prior disproportionate tachycardia,myal.ia,and excess el.ctromyographic activity during submaximal.exercise,al. pl.tory threshol. and55%peak power output,both pl.ss of the CHO dose(pl.cebo),CHO intake increased bl.od gl.cose and l.ctate l.vel.,decreased fat oxidation rates,and attenuated the second wind in the ***,onl. the higher dose increased ventil.tory threshol.(+27%,p=0.010)and peak power output(+18%,p=0.007).In vitro anal.ses reveal.d no differences in l.ctate l.vel. across gl.cose concentrations in wil.-type myotubes,whereas a doseresponse effect was observed in McArdl. ***:CHO intake exerts beneficial.effects on exercise capacity in McArdl. disease,a condition associated with total.muscl. gl.cogen *** of these benefits are dose dependent.

Pol.ethersul.hone(PES)membranes modified with urethane functional.groups were prepared through an interfacial.reaction using el.ctron beam *** removal.of eight endocrine disrupting chemical.(EDCs)was studied using both pristine and functional.zed PES *** prepared membranes underwent characterization using several.techniques,incl.ding attenuated total.refl.ctance-Fourier transform infrared(ATR-FTIR)spectroscopy,scanning el.ctron microscopy,contact angl. anal.sis,and measurements of pure water ***,dynamic adsorption experiments were conducted to eval.ate the adsorption mechanism of the prepared membrane toward the eight *** urethane functional.zed membranes were hydrophil.c(52°contact angl.)and maintained a high permeate fl.x(26000 l.h m^(2) bar)throughout the fil.ration *** adsorption resul.s demonstrated that the introduction of urethane functional.groups on the membranes significantl. enhanced the removal.efficiency of 17β-estradiol.estriol.bisphenol.A,estrone,ethinyl.stradiol.and *** adsorption l.ading of 17β-estradiol.on the functional.zed PES membrane was 6.7±0.7 mg/m^(2),exhibiting a 5-fol. increase compared to the unmodified PES *** membranes were successful.y regenerated and reused for three adsorption cycl.s without experiencing any l.ss of adsorption capacity.
