BACKGROUND This was an observational, descriptive, and retrospective study from 2011 to 2020 from the Department of Informatics of the Brazilian Healthcare System *** To describe the intestinal complications(IC) of patients with ulcerative colitis(UC) who started conventional therapies in Brazil’s public Healthcare *** Patients ≥ 18 years of age who had at least one claim related to UC 10th revision of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems(ICD-10) code and at least 2 claims for conventional therapies were included. IC was defined as at least one claim of: UC-related hospitalization, procedures code for rectum or intestinal surgeries, and/or associated disease defined by ICD-10 codes(malignant neoplasia of colon, stenosis, hemorrhage, ulcer and other rectum or anus disease, megacolon, functional diarrhea volvulus, intussusception and erythema nodosum). Descriptive statistics, annual incidence, and incidence rate(IR) [per 100 patient-years(PY)] over the available follow-up period were *** In total, 41229 UC patients were included(median age, 48 years;65% women) and the median(interquartile range) follow-up period was 3.3(1.8-5.3) years. Conventional therapy used during follow-up period included: mesalazine(87%), sulfasalazine(15%), azathioprine(16%) or methotrexate(1%) with a median duration of 1.9(0.8-4.0) years. Overall IR of IC was 3.2 cases per 100 PY. Among the IC claims, 54% were related to associated diseases, 20% to procedures and 26% to hospitalizations. The overall annual incidence of IC was 2.9%, 2.6% and 2.5% in the first, second and third year after the first claim for therapy(index date), respectively. Over the first 3 years, the annual IR of UC-related hospitalizations ranged from 0.8% to 1.1%;associated diseases from 0.9% to 1.2%-in which anus or rectum disease, and malignant neoplasia of colon were the most frequently reported;and procedure events from 0.6% to 0.7%, bein

The project analyzes the student＇s participation in complementary activities such as Education Tutorial Program, Junior Company and Academic Center. These organizations have the goal to improve, expand and connect knowledge learned during classes with several practical activities. They can provide a huge integration between the students and the professors in order to achieve better results in the pedagogical, structural and organizational parts of an engineering major degree. Therefore, the project goes through the impact of each entity in the student＇s life and the advantages to professional future, focusing the presence of these organizations in the Electrical Engineering Course of Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte.

Oral insulin delivery could change the life of millions of diabetic patients as an effective,safe,easy-to-use,and affordable alternative to insulin injections,known by an inherently thwarted patient ***,we designed a multistage nanoparticle(NP)system capable of circumventing the biological barriers that lead to poor drug absorption and bioavailability after oral *** nanosystem consists of an insulin-loaded porous silicon NP encapsulated into a pH-responsive lignin matrix,and surface-functionalized with the Fc fragment of immunoglobulin G,which acts as a targeting ligand for the neonatal Fc receptor(FcRn).The developed NPs presented small size(211±1 nm)and narrow size *** NPs remained intact in stomach and intestinal pH conditions,releasing the drug exclusively at pH 7.4,which mimics blood *** formulation showed to be highly cytocompatible,and surface plasmon resonance studies demonstrated that FcRn-targeted NPs present higher capacity to interact and being internalized by the Caco-2 cells,which express FcRn,as demonstrated by Western ***,in vitro permeability studies showed that Fc-functionalized NPs induced an increase in the amount of insulin that permeated across a Caco-2/HT29-MTX co-culture model,showing apparent permeability coefficients(Papp)of 2.37×10􀀀6 cm/s,over the 1.66×10􀀀6 cm/s observed for their non-functionalized ***,these results demonstrate the potential of these NPs for oral delivery of anti-diabetic drugs.

Adaptability of the Recloser-Fuse Protection Scheme in the Presence of Distributed Generation

This paper addresses the behaviour of an IEEE(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers)test network when distributed injections are added to the distribution *** penetration of different dispersed generation technologies,modifies the distribution system characteristics,with impact on a number of parameters,depending on their size and location on the *** this purpose,this paper comprises three case studies:in the first case an exhaustive analysis is carried out of the occurrence of faults throughout the network,along with the introduction of distributed generators;in the second case the network behavior is assessed against the use of three of the most commonly used types of generators based on rotating machines;in the third case study an evaluation is made of the network performance when the three types of DG(distributed generation)units are distributed in multiple *** all cases the protection system is analyzed with the aim of ensuring coordination among the protection *** simulations are performed using the Power Factory software package from *** the simulation results,conclusions are drawn that provide insights into the behaviour of protection systems,highlighting the limitations of the original protections and coordination with different distributed generators technologies.

Estimating age of Brazilians using the methods of Demirjian and Nicodemo,Moraes and Medici:A comparative analysis

This study proposed to evaluate the precision of Nicodemo, Moraes and Médici method and the method proposed by Demirjian and compare both methodologies in relation to the efficiency and applicability in the Brazilian population. The sample consisted of 124 panoramic radiographs of subjects in the age group from 7 to 16 years old, 66 patients female and 58 male. For the comparison of the genders in relation to the average percentage difference, the t-Student test was considered. In average the method of Nicodemo, Moraes and Médici presented for the female gender an estimated result 14.7% lower than the real age. For the male gender the estimative obtained was that for each year of variation of the real age the method of Nicodemo estimates a variation of 0.48 years, with a confidence interval of 95% given by (0.43;0.54). For the method of Demirjian the result was that for each year of variation of the real age the method of Demirjian estimates a variation of 1.00 year, with a confidence interval of 95% given by (0.85;1.15) for the male gender and 0.96 years, with a confidence interval of 95% given by (0.84;1.08) for the female gender. It is concluded that the Method of Nicodemo, Moraes and Médici tends to underestimate the real age and that as the real age increases this underestimate becomes higher. Now, the method of Demirjian tends to over- estimate the real age in 8.2 months for the male gender and in 7.1 for the female one in average.

Rigid Bridges Health Dynamic Monitoring Using 100 Hz GPS Single-Frequency and Accelerometers

This article presents the modal frequency recordings of a rigid bridge, monitored by the GPS receivers (Global Positioning System) with a data recording rate of 100 Hz and accelerometers. The GPS data processing was performed through the double-difference phase, using the adjusted interferometry technique (i.e. phase residue method—PRM®). In the method, the double-difference phase of the carrier L1 is realized by using two satellites only, one was positioned at the zenith of the structure and the other satellite was positioned near the horizon. The results of the parametric adjustment of the PRM observations were finalized through software Interferometry, mathematical algorithm were applied and compared with the accelerometer. The comparison served to validate the use of GPS as a fast and reliable instrument for the preliminary monitoring of the dynamic behavior of the bridge, road artworks which are common in several countries, especially in the Brazilian road network. The data time series from the GPS and accelerometers were processed using the Wavelet. The detection of frequencies means that the combination of 100 Hz GPS receivers and the PRM allows detecting vibrations up to 5 mm. It presented significant results which were never obtained by the Fourier Transform.

Objective: To identify the main chemical classes of compounds from aqueous extract of Enterolobium contortisiliquum(E. contortisiliquum) seed bark and to evaluate its antibacterial activity, as well as its potential to increase the activity of antibiotics against strains of Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia ***: Different classes of compounds in the aqueous extract of E. contortisiliquum were evaluated based on the visual changes in the coloration and the formation of precipitate after the addition of specific reagents. The antibacterial activity of the extract and its potential to increase of antibiotic activity of antibiotics drugs, gentamicin and norfloxacin was determined by using the microdilution ***: Our results demonstrated that the following secondary metabolites were presented in E. contortisiliquum seed bark: flavones, flavonols, xanthones, flavononols,chalcones, aurones, flavones and catechins. The extract itself had very low antibacterial activity against all bacterial strains tested(MIC ≥ 1024 μg/m L), but there was an increase in the antibiotic activity of gentamicin and norfloxacin when combined in the subinhibitory concentration(i.e., MIC/8).Conclusions: Our data suggests that E. contortisiliquum seed bark may be an alternative source for new drugs with the potential to increase antibiotic activity against different strains of bacteria.

Problems associated with carbon support corrosion under operating fuel cell conditions require the identification of alternative supports for platinum-based nanosized *** supported on manganese vanadate(Pt/MnV_(2)O_(6))was prepared by microwave irradiation method and characterized using X-ray diffraction,Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive spectroscopy,and transmission electron *** borohydride oxidation reaction(BOR)on Pt/MnV_(2)O_(6) was studied in highly alkaline media using voltammetry,chronoamperometry,and electrochemical impedance *** electrocatalytic activity of Pt/MnV_(2)O_(6) was also compared with that of commercial Pt/C(46 wt%Pt)*** apparent activation energy of BOR at Pt/MnV_(2)O_(6) was estimated to be 32 k J mol^(-1) and the order of reaction to be 0.51,indicating that borohydride hydrolysis proceeds in parallel with its ***-term stability of Pt/MnV_(2)O_(6) under BOR typical conditions was observed.A laboratory-scale direct borohydride fuel cell assembled with a Pt/MnV_(2)O_(6) anode reached a specific power of 274 W g^(-1).Experimental results on Pt/MnV_(2)O_(6) were complemented by DFT calculations,which indicated good adherence of Pt to MnV_(2)O_(6),beneficial for electrocatalyst stability.
