Constrained Friction Processing(CFP)is a novel solid-state processing technique suitable for lightweight materials,such Mg-and *** technique enables grain size refinement to fine or even ultrafine *** this study,the effect of CFP on the microstructural refinement of AM50 rods is investigated in terms of particle size and morphology of the eutectic and secondary phases originally present in the base material,in particular the eutecticβ-Mg_(17)Al_(12)and Al-Mn *** that purpose,as-cast and solution heat-treated base material and processed samples were *** Al8Mn5 intermetallic phase was identified as the main secondary phase present in all samples before and after the processing.A notorious refinement of these particles was observed,starting from particles with an average equivalent length of a few micrometers to around 560 nm after the *** refinement of the secondary phase refinement is attributed to a mechanism analogous to the attrition comminution,where the combination of temperature increase and shearing of the material enables the continuous breaking of the brittle intermetallic particles into smaller *** for the eutectic phase,the results indicate the presence of the partially divorcedβ-Mg_(17)Al_(12)particles exclusively in the as-cast base material,indicating that no further phase transformations regarding the eutectic phase,such as dynamic precipitation,occurred after the *** the case of the processed as-cast material analyzed after the CFP,the thermal energy generated during the processing led to temperature values above the solvus limit of the eutectic phase,which associated with the mechanical breakage of the particles,enabled the complete dissolution of this ***,CFP was successfully demonstrated to promote an extensive microstructure refinement in multiple aspects,in terms of grain sizes of theα-Mg phase and presence and morphology of the Al-Mn and eutecticβ-Mg_(17)Al_(12).

AIM:To compare the safety and effectiveness of eyelid treatment with the ILux®-MgD Treatment system in one session versus five sessions of mechanical meibomian gland expression(MMgE)in patients with moderate to severe meibomian gland dysfunction(MgD).METHODs:A prospective,randomized,open-label,and controlled clinical trial that compared one session of the ILux®MgD Treatment system versus five sessions of MMgE in both eyes of 130 patients aged≥18y with Ocular surface Disease Index(OsDI)scores≥13,total meibomian gland scores(Mgs)ofn the lower eyelid of each eye,and non-invasive tear break-up time(nI-TBUT)s,who were randomized 1:1 to ILux®or ***:The mean age was 58±*** total Mgs scores in both treatment groups were *** follow-up,there were significant differences in total Mgs and per sector with Pnalysis was performed using generalized estimating equations corresponding to the generalized linear model for repeated means to determine the treatment relationship with total Mgs,nIBUT,and *** was a significant difference between ILux®and MMgE(Pst to the twelfth month in Mgs,nI-BUT,and OsDI *** adverse events were ***:ILux®treatment compared to MMgE significantly improves symptoms and signs in patients with moderate to severe MgD for one year without adverse events.

This work shows the synthesis,characterization and evaluation of dense-ceramic membranes made of Ce_(0.85)gd_(0.15)O_(2-δ)-LaniO_(3)(Cg-Ln)composites,where the fluorite-perovskite ratio(Cg:Ln)was varied as follows:75:25,80:20 and 85:15 wt.%.supports were initially characterized by XRD,sEM and electrical conductivity(using vacuum and oxygen atmospheres),to determine the composition,microstructural and ionic-electronic conductivity ***,supports were infiltrated with an eutectic carbonates mixture,producing the corresponding dense dual-phase membranes,in which CO_(2)permeation tests were ***,CO_(2)permeation experiments were performed from 900 to 700℃,in the presence and absence of oxygen(flowed in the sweep membrane side).Results showed that these composites possess high CO_(2)permeation properties,where the O_(2)addition significantly improves the ionic conduction on the sweep membrane ***,the gC80-Ln20 composition presented the best results due to the following physicochemical characteristics:high electronic and ionic conductivity,appropriate porosity,interconnected porous channels,as well as thermal and chemical stabilities between the composite support and carbonate phases.

shorebird populations are declining worldwide,mainly due to human disturbances and loss of coastal ***,supratidal habitats as saltpans could play a role in buffering human *** have shown to be important as feeding or breeding sites of some shorebird species.A potential conservation strategy to increase shorebird populations in saltpans is to manipulate the cues that birds use to select optimal breeding *** it is hypothesized that shorebirds are attracted to bivalve shells due to the advantages they *** this hypothesis,we supplemented a restored saltpan in 2019 and 2021 with bivalve shells,expecting an increase in the number of breeding birds’ *** than 75% of Kentish Plover(Charadrius alexandrinus) and Little Tern(sternula albifrons) nests were found in patches with shells in both *** best model for both species indicates that the presence of shells is the factor that most correlates with the location of *** probability of choosing one place over another to settle their nest increases in areas with an abundance of shells,double in the case of the Kentish Plover and triple in the case of the Little *** result of this study may constitute a valuable tool for attracting birds to restored saltpans and could contribute to the success of expensive restoration projects where time is usually a constraint.
