Effective calcium(ca)management is crucial for optimizing oil palm cultivation and enhancing crop *** study aimed to gain insights into the dynamics of ca concentration,accumulation,exportation,immobilization,and recycling in various oil palm organs relative to plant *** experiment was conducted at the Agropalma enterprise site in the northeastern region of Para State,Brazil,evaluating seven plant age treatments:2,3,4,5,6,7,and 8 years *** a completely randomized design with four *** results demonstrated an age-related increase in ca concentration in petioles,rachis,arrows,male inflorescences,peduncles,and ***,ca accumulation exhibited an upward trend in all organs with progressing plant ***,the study revealed an enhanced ca use efficiency across all plant organs in correlation with the age of oil palm *** findings underscore the dynamic nutritional demands of oil palm,influencing ca immobilization,cycling,and export throughout its developmental stages.

The effect of chromium addition on the structure and electrical properties of cacu3Ti4O12 is *** based on the formula cacu3Ti4-xcrxO12-σ(x = 0, 0.025, 0.050 and 0.075 mol%) are prepared by solid-state reaction. Pellets sintered at 1070℃ for 12 h are characterised by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive spectroscopy and impedance spectroscopy. current densityelectric field, dielectric loss and permittivity measurements are also carried out. Rietveld refinement showed the substitution of cr(Ⅲ) on the Ti(Ⅳ) site, with the maximum substitution for x = 0.025 mol%.The generation of electrical defects in the grain boundary region by chromium doping is responsible for increasing the electric breakdown field strength and nonlinearity coefficient at room temperature from 1723 V/cm and 5.29 for x = 0 mol% to 3431 V/cm and 8.16 for x = 0.025 mol%. This composition shows the greatest improvement in ceramic varistor parameters.

Feasibility and safety of autologous bone marrow mononuclear cell transplantation in patients with advanced chronic liver disease

AIM： To evaluate the safety and feasibility of bone marrow cell （BMc） transplantation in patients with chronic liver disease on the waiting list for liver transplantation. METHODS： Ten patients （eight males） with chronic liver disease were enrolled to receive infusion of autologous bone marrow-derived cells. Seven patients were classified as child-Pugh B and three as child-Pugh c. Baseline assessment included complete clinical and laboratory evaluation and abdominal MRI. Approximately 50 mL of bone marrow aspirate was prepared by centrifugation in a ficoll-hypaque gradient. At least of 100 millions of mononuclear-enriched BMcs were infused into the hepatic artery using the routine technique for arterial chemoembolization for liver tumors. Patients were followed up for adverse events up to 4 mo. RESULTS： The median age of the patients was 52 years （range 24-70 years）. All patients were discharged 48 h after BMc infusion. Two patients complained ofmild pain at the bone marrow needle puncture site. No other complications or specific side effects related to the procedure were observed. Bilirubin levels were lower at 1 （2.19 ± 0.9） and 4 mo （2.10 ± 1.0） after cell transplantation that baseline levels （238 ± 1.2）. Albumin levels 4 mo after BMc infusion （3.73 ± 0.5） were higher than baseline levels （3.47 ± 0.5）. International normalized ratio （INR） decreased from 1.48 （SD = 0.23） to 1.43 （SD = 0.23） one month after cell transplantation. cONcLUSION： BMc infusion into hepatic artery of patients with advanced chronic liver disease is safe and feasible. In addition, a decrease in mean serum bilirubin and INR levels and an increase in albumin levels are observed. Our data warrant further studies in order to evaluate the effect of BMc transplantation in patients with advanced chronic liver disease.

The analysis of a PV solar energy electronics processing system, operating at the maximum power point (MPP) for commercial refrigerator supply applications is presented in this paper. The refrigerator is fed from a bank of batteries using two electronics processing stages. The first one is a step-up push-pull converter that is responsible for the dynamic of the refrigerator and the Dc bus voltage control, and the second stage is a full-bridge voltage source inverter with three levels PWM modulation. A closed-loop voltage is used to control the step-up stage, and a closed-loop current to control the compressor starting current. The main features of this system are: simple control strategy, robustness, low harmonic distortion of the load voltage, and natural isolation. The principle of operation and experimental results are presented.

Belowground carbon and Nitrogen on a Thinned and Un-Thinned Seasonally Dry Tropical Forest

The aim of this study was to quantify the dynamics of herbaceous biomass and fine root productivity, and their relationship to stocks of carbon and nitrogen, in the Vertisols of two adjacent watersheds of a seasonally dry tropical forest (SDTF) under two different types of ground cover. The two watersheds are located in the county of Iguatu in the State of ceará, Brazil. The control watershed of 2.1 ha, has been under regeneration for 35 years (Rc35), while the second watershed (1.1 ha) was subjected to thinning for a period of 5 years (Tc5). The sampled variables were herbaceous shoot biomass, fine roots, gravimetric moisture, the isotope δ13c (‰), total soil carbon (TSc) and total nitrogen (TN) in the 0 - 20, 20 - 40 and 40 - 60 cm layers, between April 2013 and March 2014. To quantify herbaceous shoot biomass, samples were taken monthly. For TSc and TN, the campaigns were held every two months. The data underwent analysis of means and were compared by t-test (p der Tc5, there was an increase in the stocks of TSc and TN of 151 and 137% respectively in the 40 - 60 cm layer, in relation to Rc35. The implementation of thinning in a SDFT is seen as a management alternative to be considered in sustainability programs in the semi-arid region, contributing to maximising the production of herbaceous forage for feeding large and small ruminants, and for bee pasture, in addition to increasing the stock of carbon in the soil of SDFT and reducing global warming.

Carotenoids are isoprenoid pigments used in food, chemical, textile, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries. They act not only as dyes and provitamins A but also have antioxidants, photoprotective, antimicrobial properties, among others. This class of pigment can be obtained traditionally by plants or chemical synthesis, but they have some disadvantages. In recent years, search for alternative sources has been an important strategy for the carotenoid industries. Microbial synthesis is an alternative that has shown good yields, speed, and reduced production costs. Hostile environments, such as the Caatinga domain, represent an interesting source of microorganisms that produce biomolecules, especially carotenoids, because of oxidative stress caused by sunlight. Thus, this region has been attracting the attention of the scientific community and industry for the use of these organisms in the production of carotenoids and applications in cosmetic products;since these compounds have interesting antioxidant and photoprotective properties. In this review, general characteristics of carotenoids, sources of production, industrial applicability, and commercialization will be discussed, as well as perspectives on the production of carotenoids from microorganisms isolated from the caatinga and their application in anti-UV products.

Do cytokines Play a Role in Predicting Some Features and Outcome in Infective Endocarditis?

Objective: This study aimed to measure the serum concentrations of several cytokines in patients with infective endocarditis (IE), and correlate them with the c-reactive protein serum levels, echocardiographic findings and infecting microorganisms. Methods: Forty-five patients with definite IE according to the Duke’s criteria were included in the study. Ten healthy blood donors formed the control group. Serum levels of interleukin (IL) 1β, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, IL-12 and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) were measured and compared between the groups, and also with some clinical and laboratory parameters of IE. Results: Patients with IE had significantly higher serum concentrations of the inflammatory mediators than the control patients. Median IL-12 and IL-1β levels were higher in staphylococcal than streptococcal IE. Except for TNF-α, the levels of all the other cytokines correlated with the c-reactive protein concentrations. In multivariate analysis, IL-10 and IL-12 serum levels remained as independent factors associated with the c-reactive protein concentrations. There was a significant correlation between IL-10 concentration and vegetation length. conclusion: The inflammatory serum cytokines levels were elevated in IE in comparison to healthy controls. c-reactive protein concentrations correlated with cytokines levels. IL-1β and IL-12 serum concentrations were higher in staphylococcal when compared to streptococcal IE. IL-10 levels were associated with vegetation size.

Accuracy of gestalt perception of acute chest pain in predicting coronary artery disease

AIM To test accuracy and reproducibility of gestalt to predict obstructive coronary artery disease(cAD)in patients with acute chest *** We studied individuals who were consecutively admitted to our chest Pain *** admission,investigators performed a standardized interview and recorded14 chest pain *** on these features,a cardiologist who was blind to other clinical characteristics made unstructured judgment of cAD probability,both numerically and *** the reference standard for testing the accuracy of gestalt,angiography was required to rule-in cAD,while either angiography or non-invasive test could be used to *** order to assess reproducibility,a second cardiologist did the same *** In a sample of 330 patients,the prevalence of obstructive cAD was 48%.Gestalt’s numerical probability was associated with cAD,but the area under the curve of0.61(95%cI:0.55-0.67)indicated low level of ***,categorical definition of typical chest pain had a sensitivity of 48%(95%cI:40%-55%)and specificity of 66%(95%cI:59%-73%),yielding a negligible positive likelihood ratio of 1.4(95%cI:0.65-2.0)and negative likelihood ratio of 0.79(95%cI:0.62-1.02).Agreement between the two cardiologists was poor in the numerical classification(95%limits of agreement=-71%to 51%)and categorical definition of typical pain(Kappa=0.29;95%cI:0.21-0.37).cONcLUSION clinical judgment based on a combination of chest pain features is neither accurate nor reproducible in predicting obstructive cAD in the acute setting.

Lasertherapy as A Strategy for Treatment Healing under caloric Restriction – Study in Rats

complications in the healing process are challenging, especially in clinical situations of caloric restriction （cR）. The lasertherapy becomes an important strategy that aids the repair, especially in cR. Thus, it is important to investigate the InGaAlP-660 nm laser as an strategy to repair cutaneous wounds in rats submitted to 30% of cR and to understand the tissue repair in clinical situations of cR. Thirty-six male Wistar rats were used, of which half were fed with 30% less ration, and half with ad libitum diet, for 21 days. Then, punch lesions of 1.5 cm in diameter were made on the animals backs, which were divided into： NR （no-restricted）, R （restricted）-both before lesion; c （control）, Rc （restricted-control）, L （laser）, RL （restricted-laser）-after lesion. Samples of the skin/lesion/scar were collected on the 2nd, 7th and 14th days post-injury for histological, biochemical and molecular analyses. The R group showed reduction of body mass, epidermal/dermal thickness, inflammation, angiogenesis, fibroplasia and collagenesis. The RL group showed control of inflammation, oxidative damage and increase of antioxidants than Rc, which probably favored angiogenesis, collagenesis and reepithelialization, similar to c and L. Thus, 30% of cR impaired the skin （before lesion）. In the lesion, lasertherapy has shown to be effective in tissue repair mainly in cR status, being thus, the laser clinically important strategy to tissue repair in critical situations of caloric restriction.

Background: Suicide among physicians is a serious public health issue, with an extremely complex and multifactorial behavior. Aim: The aim of this study was to use the theme “Suicide among Physicians” to exemplify the analysis of methodological similarities between the scientific content available at MEDLINE and BVS databases, as scientific research tools. Methods: This is a systematic review with metanalysis. The following combinations of keywords were used for data search in the referred databases: “suicide” AND “physicians” AND “public heath”. Results: Three hundred and thirteen publications were identified, but only 16 studies were chosen. Great association was found between MEDLINE and BVS databases and the Odds Ratio regarding the theme: “Suicide among physicians”. conclusions: considering the similarities found in the utilization of the two analyzed databases, it was possible to identify that suicide among physicians is associated with the exercise of an important professional role in the society and in the workplace. With regard to scientific information, the p-value-obtained value (cally significant for the association between the suggested theme and the methodological similarities of the scientific information available in the analyzed databases. Thus, these open-access research tools are considered scientific reliable tools.
