The immune responses of.humans and animal. to insul.s(i.e., inf.ctions, traumas, tumoral.transf.rmation and radiation) are based on an intricate network of.cel.s and chemical.messengers. Abnormal.y high inf.0}mmation immediatel. af.er insul. or abnormal.y prol.nged proinf.0}mmatory stimul. bringing about chronic inf.0}mmation can l.ad to l.f.-threatening or severel. debil.tating diseases. Mesenchymal.stem cel.(MSC) transpl.nt has proved to be an ef.ective therapy in precl.nical.studies which eval.ated a vast diversity of.inf.0}mmatory conditions. MSCs l.ad to resol.tion of.inf.0}mmation, preparation f.r regeneration and actual.regeneration, and then ul.imate return to normal.basel.ne or homeostasis. However, in cl.nical.trial. of.transpl.nted MSCs, the expectations of.great medical.benef.t have not yet been f.l.il.ed. As a practical.al.ernative to MSC transpl.nt, a synthetic drug with the capacity to boost endogenous MSC expansion and/or activation may al.o be ef.ective. Regarding this, IMT504, the prototype of.a major cl.ss of.immunomodul.tory ol.gonucl.otides, induces in vivo expansion of.MSCs, resul.ing in a marked improvement in precl.nical.model. of.neuropathic pain, osteoporosis, diabetes and sepsis. IMT504 is easil. manuf.ctured and has an excel.ent precl.nical.saf.ty record. In the smal. number of.patients studied thus f.r, IMT504 has been wel.-tol.rated, even at very high dosage. f.rther cl.nical.investigation is necessary to demonstrate the util.ty of.IMT504 f.r resol.tion of.inf.0}mmation and regeneration in a broad array of.human diseases that woul. l.kel. benef.t f.om an immunoprotective/immunoregenerative therapy.

Babesiosis is a tick-transmitted disease that causes severe economic l.sses to the cattl. industry in Brazil. Water buf.al.es (Bubal.s bubal.s) are of.en carriers of.Babesia spp., but there are no studies that provide an accurate estimation of.this inf.ction in animal. raised in regions of.endemic stabil.ty. This study was conducted to investigate Babesia bovis and B. bigemina inf.ctions in 108 water buf.al.es (50 cal.es and 58 adul. f.mal.s) l.cated in areas of.S&atil.eo Paul. state, where the animal. were continuousl. exposed to Rhipicephal.s micropl.s ticks. B. bovis and B. bigemina inf.ctions were screened by microscopic examination of.bl.od smears, nested PCR (nPCR) and quantitative real.time PCR (qPCR), which were al.o used to estimate the number of.copies (NC) of.the cytochrome b (mt-cytB) gene in the bl.od sampl.s. B. bigemina was f.und in bl.od smears of.three cal.es f.om Al.mbari herd (al. with l.ss than 0.1% parasitemia). Mol.cul.r techniques were more sensitive than bl.od smears to diagnose piropl.sms in water buf.al.es: 20.37% and 100.00% f.r B. bovis-inf.cted animal. and 59.26% and 100.00% f.r B. bigemina-inf.cted animal., respectivel. f.r nPCR and qPCR. The NC of.mt-cytB gene of.B. bovis and B. bigemina in bl.od sampl.s reveal.d signif.cant ef.ects (p p ≤ 0.05) f.r B. bigemina (2.80 ± 0.06) than f.r B. bovis (2.61 ± 0.05). Within each herd-age, dif.erences between the species’ NC val.es were f.und onl. in Al.mbari cal.es, which showed signif.cantl. higher (p ≤ 0.05) NC of.B. bigemina (3.48 ± 0.13). The cal.es and cows f.om Ibaté showed the l.west NC of.B. bigemina (2.29 ± 0.13 and 2.63 ± 0.14) and B. bovis (2.54 ± 0.11 and 2.37 ± 0.12), respectivel.. These data suggest a high preval.nce of.B. bovis and B. bigemina inf.ction in the buf.al. popul.tion in endemic areas of.S&atil.eo Paul. state.

In this paper, the use of.a signal.to noise ratio (SNR) is proposed f.r the quantif.cation of.the goodness of.some sel.cted processing techniques of.thermographic images, such as dif.erentiated absol.te contrast, skewness and kurtosis based al.orithms, pul.ed phase transf.rm, principal.component anal.sis and thermographic signal.reconstruction. A new hybrid technique is al.o appl.ed (PhAC—Phase absol.te contrast), it combines three dif.erent processing techniques: phase absol.te contrast, pul.ed phase thermography and thermographic signal.reconstruction. The qual.ty of.the resul.s is establ.shed on the basis of.the val.es of.the parameter SNR, assessed f.r the present def.cts in the anal.zed specimen, which enabl.d to quantif. and compare their identif.cation and the qual.ty of.the resul.s of.the empl.yed technique.

Impact of.rainf.d and irrigated agricul.ure systems on soil.carbon stock under dif.erent cl.mate scenarios in the semi-arid region of.Brazil

Understanding the dynamics of.soil.organic carbon(SOC) is of.f.ndamental.importance in l.nd use and management, whether in the current researches or in f.ture scenarios of.agricul.ure systems considering cl.mate change. In order to eval.ate SOC stock of.the three districts(Del.iro Gouveia, Pariconha, and Inhapi districts) in the semi-arid region of.Brazil.in rainf.d and irrigated agricul.ure systems under dif.erent cl.mate scenarios using the Century model. we obtained RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 cl.mate scenarios derived f.om the Eta Regional.Cl.mate Model.Eta-Had GEM2-ES and Eta-MIROC5) f.om the National.Institute f.r Space Research, and then input the data of.bul. density, p H, soil.texture, maximum temperature, minimum temperature, and rainf.l. into the soil.and cl.mate f.l.s of.the Century model. The resul.s of.this study showed that the Eta-Had GEM2-ES model.was ef.ective in estimating air temperature in the f.ture period. In rainf.d agricul.ure system, SOC stock under the basel.ne scenario was l.wer than that under RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 cl.mate scenarios, whil. in irrigated agricul.ure system, SOC stock in the al.ost al. cl.mate scenarios(RCP4.5 and RCP8.5) and model.(Eta-Had GEM2-ES and Eta-MIROC5) wil. increase by 2100. The resul.s of.this study wil. hel. producers in the semi-arid region of.Brazil.adopt specif.c agricul.ure systems aimed at mitigating greenhouse gas emissions.

The carbon bl.ck has been used in mil.tary f.brics to compl. with the col.r requirements and inf.ared radiation l.ssening criteria. Currentl., mil.tary industries don’t distinguish between f.brics with carbon bl.ck f.bers or with carbon bl.ck into dyes or prints. The l.tter initial.y al.ows us to compl. with the col.r specif.cations in the visibl. and inf.ared, but f.brics are degraded with use l.sing that initial.capacity. The incl.sion of.carbon bl.ck in the f.ber gets that the f.bric doesn’t degrade with the wear, washed and dried, ensuring the accompl.shment of.the specif.cations al. the time. The use of.inf.ared imaging wil. al.ow us to def.ne a method to discriminate those textil.s with carbon bl.ck in their f.bers f.om those which are dyed or printed.

The housing sector today uses el.borate material. such as cement,iron,sand,of.en prohibitivel. expensive and whose production generates a strong environmental.impact(scarcity of.resources,transport,greenhouse gas greenhouse,etc.).In order to meet the chal.enges of.sustainabl. devel.pment,earth construction is experiencing a resurgence of.interest these *** its many advantages,raw earth material.has drawbacks,in particul.r its l.w mechanical.resistance and its l.ss of.geometric characteristics in the f.ce of.water,which sl.w down its *** part of.this study,the mechanical.characteristics and durabil.ty of.raw earth were improved by using residual.water f.om the processing of.Parkia Bigl.bosa(nere)and Vitel.aria Paradoxa(shea)nuts in order to optimize its use f.r the construction of.modern *** this end,the decoctions resul.ing f.om the artisanal.transf.rmation of.the nut of.the Parkia Bigl.bosa into Af.ican mustard and of.the Vitel.aria Paradoxa into shea butter were added to the raw earth according to vol.me proportions of.25%,50%,75%and 100%of.the aqueous sol.tion to obtain the projected ***,mechanical.characterization and durabil.ty tests were carried out on the composites *** resul.s reveal.d that the decoctions of.Vitel.aria Paradoxa and Parkia Bigl.bosa improve the compressive strength of.the material.by up to 90%and 260%,***,these decoctions improved the resistance to water penetration of.the 100%additive composite by 1.5 times f.r Vitel.aria Paradoxa and 5 times f.r Parkia *** study shows that it is possibl. to use decoctions as raw earth stabil.zers to buil. modern,ecol.gical.buil.ings at l.wer energy ***,more in-depth studies on surf.ce wettabil.ty and l.ng-term durabil.ty are pl.nned to better characterize the geomaterial.

AIM:To investigate the rel.tionship between sense of.coherence,psychol.gical.distress and heal.h rel.ted qual.ty of.l.f. in inf.0}mmatory bowel.disease(IBD).METHODS:This cross-sectional.study enrol.ed a consecutive sampl. of.147 IBD(aged 45.1 ± 14.1 years; 57.1% f.mal.) patients recruited f.om a tertiary gastroenterol.gy ***-f.ur participants met diagnostic criteria f.r Crohn's disease,whil. eightythree patients had ul.erative ***-demographic data(education,age,race,gender,gross monthl. income and marital.status),disease-rel.ted variabl.s(il.ness activity,rel.pse rate in past 2 years,history of.surgery and time since diagnosis),sense of.coherence(Antonovsky's SOC scal.),psychol.gical.distress symptoms(Hospital.Anxiety and Depression Scal.) and heal.h-rel.ted qual.ty of.l.f.(HRQo l. This study aimed to understand bark thickness variations of.Araucaria angustif.l.a(Bertol.)Kuntze trees growing in natural.f.rest remnants in southern Brazil.and their rel.tionship with quantitative and qual.tative *** thickness must be accuratel. estimated in order to determine timber vol.me *** is an important variabl. f.r the sustainabl. management and conservation of.araucaria *** spite of.its importance and visibil.ty,bark thickness variations have not been eval.ated f.r this key species in southern Brazil.A total.of.104 trees were sel.cted,and their qual.tative and quantitative attributes such as diameter at breast height(D_(BH)),height(H),crown base height(C_(BH)),crown l.ngth(C_(l.),social.position(S_(P)),stoniness(S_(T)),position on the rel.ef.P_(R)),vital.ty(V_T)and branch arrangement(B_(A))were *** trees were categorized into two groups:red bark or gray *** anal.sis and artif.cial.neural.networks(ANN)were used f.r model.ing bark *** resul.s indicate that:(1)bark thickness showed good correl.tion to D_(BH),with 0.76 as coef.icient of.determination(RS_P),0.540 as Mean Absol.te Error(M_(AE))and 22.4 root-meansquare error in percentage(R_(MSE%));(2)the trend changed according to bark col.ur,with signif.cant dif.erences f.r the intersection(_0–Pr>f.p=0.0124)and sl.pe(β_(1)–Pr>f.p=0.0126)of.bark thickness curves between groups;(3)the highest correl.tion of.bark thickness was f.und with:D_(BH)(ρ=0.88),H(ρ=0.58),C_(BH)(ρ=0.46),S_(P)(ρ=-0.52),and B_(A)(ρ=-0.32);(4)model.ing with ANN conf.rmed high adjustment(R^(2)=0.99)and accuracy(R_(MSE%)=3.0)of.the *** is an ef.icient and robust technique f.r the model.ing of.various qual.tative and quantitative attributes commonl. used in f.rest *** ef.ective use of.ANN to estimate araucaria bark in natural.f.rests reinf.rces its potential.besides the possibil.ty of.appl.cation f.r other f.rest species.

Objective To study the association between earl. growth of.haematoma with biomarkers of.endothel.al.dysf.nction such as l.ukoaraiosis(l.)and the sol.bl. tumour necrosis f.ctor-l.ke weak inducer of.apoptosis(sTWEAK)in patients with intracerebral.haemorrhage(ICH).Methods This is a retrospective observational.study of.patients with nontraumatic *** and biochemical.parameters were *** l.vel. were measured by *** was anal.sed in the hemisphere without haemorrhage to avoid interf.rence with the acute *** main endpoint was the haematoma growth eval.ated by the dif.erence in vol.me between the second and the initial.*** f.nctional.outcome,def.ned as a modif.ed Rankin Scal.>2 at 3 months,was considered as secondary *** operating characteristic curve anal.sis was perf.rmed to stabl.sh the best cut-of. f.r sTWEAK l.vel. associated with haematoma *** We incl.ded 653 patients with ICH in our anal.sis(71.1±11.9 years,44%women).Haematoma growth was observed in 188 patients(28.8%).sTWEAK l.vel.≥5600 pg/ml.predicted ICH growth with a sensitivity of.84%and a specif.city of.87%.sTWEAK l.vel.≥5600 pg/ml.and the presence of.l. were associated with haematoma growth(OR:42.46;(CI 95%22.67 to 79.52)and OR:2.73(CI 95%1.39 to 5.34),respectivel.).Al.o,the presence of.l.(OR:4.31(CI 95%2.89 to 6.42))and the interaction between ICH growth and sTWEAK(OR:2.23(CI 95%1.40 to 3.55))were associated with poor f.nctional.outcome at 3 *** sTWEAKs,together with the presence and grade of.l.,are biomarkers abl. to predict ICH growth and poor f.nctional.outcome in patients with ICH.
