Solid state NMR was successfully used to determine the proton spin-lattice relaxation time in the rotating frame (T1ρH) for systems b.sed on polypropylene (PP) and PP with titanium dioxide (TiOb.2b.) organically modified or unmodified incorporated, in order to understand the molecular b.havior of these systems. These techniques were employed in the samples organically modified and unmodified TiOb.2b. to investigate the effect of organic modification on the dispersion and distrib.tion of the particles in the PP matrix. The results were analyzed in terms of the effect of the particles organic modified or not according to the intermolecular interaction in the composites. According to the T1ρH values, all composites showed at least two domains: the short values were related to the rigid part, which included the crystalline and amorphous phase constricted in it, while the longer times were attrib.ted to the amorphous region, which had higher molecular mob.lity compared to the rigid region of the materials. The increase in the relaxation time parameter in the composites compared to the pure PP was associated to the strong interaction b.tween titanium dioxide particles and the polymer chains. This effect was more pronounced for the systems containing organically modified TiOb.2b.. According to the results, it could b. inferred that intermolecular interaction occurred in the CHb.2b. and CH groups, b.ing more intense with CHb.2b. groups. Finally, the solid state NMR techniques were ab.e to evaluate the molecular dynamics of those systems.

b.ckground: Characterising the regulation of milk component synthesis in response to macronutrient supply is critical for understanding the implications of nutritional interventions on milk production. Gene expression in mammary gland secretory cells was measured using RNA isolated from milk fat glob.les from 6 Holstein-Friesian cows receiving 5-d ab.masal infusions of saline, essential amino acids(AA), or glucose(GG) or palm olein(LG)without(LAA) or with(HAA) essential AA, according to a 6 × 6 Latin square design. RNA was isolated from milk fat samples collected on d 5 of infusion and sub.ected to real-time quantitative PCR. We hypothesised that m RNA expression of genes involved in de novo milk fatty acid(FA) synthesis would b. differently affected b. GG and LG,and that expression of genes regulating transfer of tricarb.xylic acid cycle intermediates would increase at the HAA level. Raised myeloperoxidase (MPO) serum levels are associated with endothelial dysfunction and cigarette smoking is a risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. Since myocardial infarction is associated with leukocytosis and smokers present increased levels of neutrophils, here we hypothesized that the levels of serum MPO in smokers could b. also raised. We carried out a study on sixty eight adult healthy volunteers. The control group consisted of thirty four non-smokers and the test group was thirty four heavy smokers. We reported here the fab.ication of the elec- trically tunab.e infrared （IR） reflectors b.sed on the polymer stab.lized cholesteric liquid crystal （PSCLC） with negative dielectric anisotropy. A systematic study of the influence of cell gap on the electrically tunab.e reflection b.ndwidth was performed. When a direct current （DC） electric field was ap- plied, the reflection b.ndwidth red shifted in the cells with small cell gap, whereas the b.ndwidth b.oadening was ob. served in the cells with large cell gap. It is therefore reasonab.e to deduct that the reflection is dictated b. the pitch gradient steepness which strongly relies on the cell thickness. The re- sults reveal that for making PSCLC b.sed IR reflector windows with electrically induced b.ndwidth b.oadening, a minimal cell gap thickness is required. The resulted IR reflectors pos- sess a short native switching time and long-term operation stab.lity, and are potentially applicab.e as smart energy saving windows in b.ildings and automob.les.
