Background:tinnitus is a sound precepted without an external sound *** background can be categorised into primary and secondary *** secondary cases include pathologies of the external,middle and inner *** can be objective or subjective;the latter can only identified by the *** research results have shown that tinnitus significantly affects the quality of life and daily ***:to analyse the impact of tinnitus on the daily functioning and the possible influence of demographical data and tinnitus duration on ***:630 patients(265 males and 365 females,25e85 years of age)suffering from primary tinnitus were *** the Hungarian language,these patients completed the tinnitus Handicap Inventory(thI)questionnaire and underwent a complete otorhinolaryngological *** sPss V24 software was used for data processing;correlation tests,the Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis nonparametric tests were ***:According to the thI questionnaires outcomes,most patients(62.5%)were presented with a mild *** on statistical analysis,no significant correlation was observed between the total thI points and the age of the patients,along with the duration and localisation of the ***,the total thI scores of male and female patients significantly differed,indicating higher thI values in the female group(p=0.00052*).Conclusions:the tinnitus severity was not affected by the duration,localisation of the symptoms and age but by gender,indicating higher values in the case of females.

Intraoperative complication rates in cataract surgery performed by resident trainees and staff surgeons in a tertiary eyecare center in Hungary

AIM: to compare the incidence of intraoperative complications during primary phacoemulsification(phaco) surgery between resident surgeons(residents) and staff surgeons(specialists) and to objectively determine the difficulty of stages in phaco surgery. MEthODs: this retrospective study included cases of phaco cataract surgery performed between January and December 2019. there were no exclusion criteria. For each patient, demographics, clinical history, case complexity, type of surgeon, and operative details were reviewed. Primary outcomes included intraoperative complication rates and the objective measure of difficulty in the steps of the surgery performed by residents and ***: A total of 3272 cases were included;7.4%(n=241) of cases were performed by residents. the overall complication rate was 5.4%(n=177). the intraoperative complication rate was significantly higher(Psidents(n=33, 13.7%) than in specialists(n=144, 4.8%). the most frequent complications were posterior capsule tear(n=85, 2.6%), anterior capsule tear(n=50, 1.53%), zonular fiber loss(n=45, 1.38%), and dropped nucleus(n=15, 0.46%). Objectively, the most difficult steps during surgery were phaco in 66(60.0%), capsulorhexis in 21(19.1%), irrigation/aspiration in 13(11.8%), hydrodissection in 9(8.2%), and intraocular lens(IOL) implantation in 1(0.9%) case. CONCLUsION: Intraoperative complication rates are higher in residents than in specialists. the order of objective difficulty in phaco surgery steps is in line with the subjective findings of other surveys, revealing that the most challenging parts of phaco surgery are phaco and capsulorhexis.

Effect of polymer and fiber additives on pressure drop in a rectangular channel

the influence of minute amounts of additives on pressure drop is an interesting fundamental phenomenon, potentially with important practical applications. Change of the pressure drop in a quasi-two-dimensional channel flow using various additives is experimentally investigated. tests were conducted for a wide range of concentrations（100 ppm-500 ppm） and Reynolds numbers（16 000-36 000） with two polymers and four rigid fibers used as additive. Maximum drag reduction of 22% was observed for xanthan gum. However, xanthan gum loses its drag-reducing property rapidly. It was also seen that drag reduction percentage of xanthan gum remains almost constant for different Reynolds numbers. Guar flour demonstrated good drag reduction property at high Reynolds numbers. Drag reduction of 17.5% at Re= 33 200 using 300 ppm solution was observed. However, at low Reynolds numbers guar flour will cause an increase in pressure drop. Fiber fillers（aspect ratio=21） have been tested as well. In contrast to polymers, they increased the drag for the range of examined concentrations and Reynolds numbers. Polyacrylonitrile fiber with three different aspect ratios（106, 200, 400） was also used, which showed an increase in pressure drop at low aspect ratios. Polyacrylonitrile fibers of larger lengths（6 mm） demonstrated minor drag-reducing effects（up to 3%）.

the term“structural lubricity”denotes a fundamental concept where the friction between two atomically flat surfaces is reduced due to lattice mismatch at the *** favorable circumstances,its effect may cause a contact to experience ultra-low friction,which is why it is also referred to as“superlubricity”.While the basic principle is intriguingly simple,the experimental analysis of structural lubricity has been *** of the main reasons for this predicament is that the tool most frequently used in nanotribology,the friction force microscope,is not well suited to analyse the friction of extended *** overcome this deficiency,substantial efforts have been directed in recent years towards establishing nanoparticle manipulation techniques,where the friction of nanoparticles sliding on a substrate is measured,as an alternative approach to nanotribological *** choosing appropriate nanoparticles and substrates,interfaces exhibiting the characteristics needed for the occurrence of structural lubricity can be *** a consequence,nanoparticle manipulation experiments such as in this review represent a unique opportunity to study the physical conditions and processes necessary to establish structural lubricity,thereby opening a path to exploit this effect in technological applications.
