Cloning of the Soybean sHSP26 Gene and Analysis of Its Drought Resistance

BACKGROUND Brain arteriovenous malformations(bAVMs)remains one of the most prevalent causes of intracranial hemorrhage and stroke-like syndromes in the young adult *** it has been agreed upon that definitive treatment using either single or multi-modal approach is warranted for successful bAVM management,much debate still revolves regarding the optimal timing of definitive *** SUMMARY In this report,we present a case of delayed,definitive endovascular treatment for ruptured bAVM in a 21-year-old female,3 mo *** bAVM,with a left pericallosal feeding artery and cortical draining veins,was successfully obliterated through embolization using the Onyx *** follow-up the patient has recommenced her daily activities and experiences only mild occasional headaches with mild motor *** report leads to our review on an important issue regarding the optimal timing of ruptured bAVM definitive management and bring forward the current evidence available on delayed vs immediate definitive bAVM *** also highlight current issues that need to be addressed for clearer guidelines on definitive therapy *** Current treatment paradigms of ruptured bAVM remains elusive,with substantial heterogeneity in the current literature.A consensus on the definition of“acute”vs“delayed”,management goal,follow-up length and outcome parameters are required to support formation of a clear paradigm.

The Ability of Phosphate Solubilizing Bacteria Isolated from Coffee Plant Rhizosphere and Their Effects on Robusta Coffee Seedlings

Phosphate solubilizing bacteria isolated from rhizosphere of coffee plants may play an important role in improving phosphate availability for the plants. However, one of the factors influencing the degree of phosphate solubilization by these bacteria is the ability of the microorganisms to utilize phosphate. The objective of this study was to determine the ability of phosphate solubilizing bacteria isolated from coffee plant rhizosphere and their effects on robusta coffee seedling growth. This research was carried out by taking soil samples from Andungsari （Bondowoso district） and Kaliwining （Jember district） coffee plantations, both located in East Java. Liquid medium of Pikovskaya was used for isolation of phosphate solubilizing bacteria from the soil samples. Results of this study showed that 12 phosphate solubilizing bacteria were obtained from this isolation, eight isolates from Andungsari and four isolates from Kaliwining. Selection of those bacteria isolates was based on the qualitative ability in phosphate solubilizing by measuring the clear zone surrounding the colonies and quantitatively by measuring the solubilized phosphate using spectrophotometer. The results showed that four isolates, in the order of PFpKW1, PFpC61, PFsC62a, and PFsB 11, had the highest qualitative ability in solubilizing phosphate, while for the highest quantitative ability the order was PFpKW 1, PFpC61, PFsC62a, and PFsB 11. In a green house study, inoculation of these selected isolates onto Robusta coffee seedlings positively enhanced the coffee seedling growth. Phenotypic test indicated that the four isolates are similar to the genus of Pseudomonas.

Follicular hyperandrogenism and insulin resistance in polycystic ovary syndrome patients with normal circulating testosterone levels

Polycystic ovary syndrome（PCOS） is a common reproductive disease with high heterogeneity. The role of excess androgen in PCOS etiology remains disputed, since around 20%-50% of PCOS women do not display hyperandrogenemia. The microenvironment of the ovary critically influences follicular development. In the present study, we assessed the role of androgen in PCOS by investigating whether excessive follicular fluid androgen was present in PCOS patients with normal serum androgen levels and influenced by follicular fluid insulin resistance（IR）.Follicular fluid samples of 105 women with PCOS and 105 controls were collected. Levels of steroid hormones,glucose and insulin in the follicular fluid were examined and compared with data from serum biochemistry tests. We found that 64.9%（63/97） of PCOS patients with normal serum androgen levels displayed abnormally high follicular fluid androgen level. The follicular fluid androgen level was positively correlated with follicular fluid IR within a certain range and follicular fluid estrogen-to-testosterone（E2/T） ratio was significantly reduced in these *** results indicated that there existed a subgroup of PCOS patients who displayed excessive follicular fluid androgen and IR despite their normal circulating testosterone（T） levels. Our study highlights the importance of ovary hyperandrogenism and IR in the etiology of PCOS.

Investigation of Shoreline and Topographic Change on the West Side of the Imagire-Guchi Inlet, Japan

Near the Imagire-guchi inlet, which is the target area in this study, the shoreline on the west side of a jetty retreats because of a decrease in sediment supply from the east side upstream. This study attempts to analyze the shoreline and topographic changes around the inlet through analysis of GPS （global position system） measurements and digitized shoreline from aerial photographs. In addition, the DoC （depth of closure） is determined by examining datasets of cross-shore profiles and by calculations using the Hallermeier equation （1981） based on the offshore wave height and period. The results obtained by GPS indicate coastal erosion caused by waves generated by typhoons. The gradual recovery of the shoreline position after the typhoons struck was also captured by the GPS survey. However, analysis of the aerial photographs reveals that the shoreline on the west side of the jetty fluctuated widely. The cross-shore profile datasets reveal that closure depth far from the inlet was deeper than that near the inlet.

A Practical Hull Form Design of Ferry Using Hybrid Scheme Method and Performing Experiment

Prediction of ship performance in preliminary ship design is an important consideration. It could guarantee ship in safe and comfort. However, many design works did not involve simultaneously ship performances predictions in preliminary design. Moreover, ship designers sometimes modified a ship form to obtain proper design without ship performance consideration. Therefore, this study concerns on predictions of total resistance and added wave resistance of a ferry using a hybrid particle-grid method and then its motions response after modifying bow and stern parts by conducting experiment. Research results show total resistance and added wave resistance have a significant different, therefore, it would be an important consideration in determining ship powering in preliminary ship design. The non-dimensional added wave resistance increases in increasing wave length from λ/Lpp = 0.5 to 1.0 and it decreases after L/λ = 1.0. In addition, it tends to decrease caused by increasing ship speed. The comparison of averaged heave and pitch amplitudes between basic forms after modifying bow and stem parts is quiet similar. However, the rolling amplitude of the modified form is significantly higher comparing with the basic form. We conclude that a ship could be design in preliminary design take into account performances predictions by using numerical method and experimental work.

Foxtail millet(Setaria italica)is an important C4 model crop;however,due to its high-density planting and high stature,lodging at the filling stage resulted in a serious reduction in yield and ***,it is imperative to identify and deploy the genes controlling foxtail millet plant *** this study,we used a semi-dwarf line 263A and an elite high-stalk breeding variety,Chuang 29 to construct an F2 population to identify dwarf *** performed transcriptome analysis(RNA-seq)using internode tissues sampled at three jointing stages of 263A and Chuang 29,as well as bulk segregant analysis(BSA)on their F2 population.A total of 8918 differentially expressed genes(DEGs)were obtained from RNA-seq analysis,and GO analysis showed that DEGs were enriched in functions such as‘‘gibberellin metabolic process”and‘‘oxidoreductase activity”,which have previously been shown to be associated with plant height.A total 593 mutated genes were screened by BSA-seq *** hundred and seventy-six out of the 593 mutated genes showed differential expression levels between the two parental lines,and seven genes not only showed differential expression in two or three internode tissues but also showed high genomic variation in coding regions,which indicated they play a crucial role in plant height *** them,we found a gibberellin biosynthesis related GA20 oxidase gene(Seita.5G404900),which had a single-base at the third exon,leading to the frameshift mutation at *** amplified polymorphic sequence assay and association analysis proved the single-base in Seita.5G404900 co-segregated with dwarf phenotype in two independent F2 populations planted in entirely different *** together,the candidate genes identified in this study will help to elucidate the genetic basis of foxtail millet plant height,and the molecular marker will be useful for marker-assisted dwarf breeding.
