Neurodegenerative diseases are a major public health challenge,mainly affecting the elderly population and compromising their cognitive,sensory,and motor ***,available therapies focus on alleviating symptoms and slowing the progression of these conditions,but they do not yet offer a definitive *** this scenario,terpenes emerge as promising natural alternatives due to their neuroprotective *** compounds can reduce the formation of protein aggregates,neutralize free radicals,and inhibit pro-inflammatory enzymes,which are crucial factors in the development of neurodegenerative *** addition,terpenes also play an important role in the regulation and remodeling of the extracellular matrix,a key target for improving neuronal *** such as linalool,pinene,and eugenol,among others,have potential therapeutic effects by modulating inflammatory and oxidative stress processes,the main factors that contribute to the progression of these *** suggest that these compounds act on signaling pathways that regulate the extracellular matrix,improving neuronal integrity and,consequently,cognitive and motor *** work aims to review the potential of terpenes in the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders,with emphasis on their ability to regulate oxidative stress and inflammation,as well as to remodel the extracellular *** interaction between these mechanisms points to the promising use of terpenes as an innovative and natural therapeutic approach to combat these diseases.

Heat management must be maintained within the mine working environment to minimize stress on equipment and personnel. The issue is a growing concern as mines continue to expand in size, depth and infrastructure. Heat management is a concern as it relates to both heat sensitive equipment and more importantly the health and safety of the workers found within the mine. Proper application of engineering protocols and work practice controls will have a direct impact on the health and safety of workers and increased productivity. Using continuous monitoring stations placed in strategic locations throughout the mine to capture the environmental conditions, various strategies can be used in the planning and prevention of potential hazard exposure. Economic analysis is used to select the most feasible strategy for heat stress control. This paper presents a step by step methodology that may be considered by ventilation specialists to effectively implement a heat management control system. A case study based on a detailed heat management assessment conducted for a potash mine in Saskatchewan, Canada is presented.

The use of animal manure has been studied increasingly in recent years due to the excess waste in confinements, which generates great amounts of animal excreta;and as a result of the worsening petroleum crisis, the cost of mineral fertilizing products has increased. Thus, studies point out the potential of this waste to improve biotic and abiotic soil condition and nutritional value of forage. Substances ingested by animals that resist the action of gastric enzymes are enriched with large amounts of bacteria, other microorganisms and other substances to form residual feces, the main component of manure, which, together with the wash water from barnyard urine, form the slurry. The volume of living or dead bacteria in the feces represents 20% of total manure and it is from these that a large amount of nitrogen originates as protein. Due to this potentiality, animal manure can be used as an input in agriculture, impacting positively on production and forage productivity, and having a favorable effect on the environment.

1 Summary With the advancement of science and technology,complex engineering structures are widely used in extreme environments[1].In equipment service,many uncertainty factors significantly affect safety and reliability[2–5].Therefore,ensuring high reliability of structures has become an important research direction in engineering *** the same time,the importance of equipment health management of complex engineering structures is becoming increasingly prominent[6–8].Computer-aided uncertainty modeling and reliability assessment have become key tools,and finite element simulation and algorithmic innovation play a key role in the reliability analysis of complex equipment[9,10].These techniques can accurately simulate stress and damage accumulation under various operating environments,providing engineers with important decision support and optimization solutions.

The interactions between herbivores and their host plants play a key role in ecological processes. Understanding the width and nature of these interactions is funda- mental to ecology and conservation. Recent research on DNA-based inference of trophic associations suggests that the host range of phytophagous insects in the tropics may be wider than previously thought based on traditional observation. However, the reliability of molecular inference of ecological associations, still strongly dependent on PCR and thus exposed to the risk of contamination with environmental DNA, is under debate. Here, we explored alternative procedures to reduce the chance of amplification of external, nondiet DNA, including surface decontamination and analysis of mid/hind guts, comparing the results with those obtained using the standard protocol. We studied 261 specimens in eight species of Neotropical Chrysomelidae that yielded 316 psbA-trnH intergenic spacer sequences （cpDNA marker of putative diets） from unique and multiple-band PCR results. The taxonomic identity of these sequences was inferred using the automated pipeline BAGpipe, yielding results consistent with 31 plant families. Regardless of the proto- col used, a wide taxonomic spectrum of food was inferred for all chrysomelid species. Canonical Correspondence Analysis using these data revealed significant differences at- tributed mainly to species （expectedly, since they represent different ecologies）, but also to treatment （untreated vs. cleaned/gut samples） and PCR results （single vs. multiple bands）. Molecular identification of diets is not straightforward and, regardless of the species＇ niche breadth, combining approaches that reduce external contamination and studying multiple individuals per species may help increasing confidence in results.

The deployment of hydrogen as an energy carrier is found to be a vital alternative fuel for the future. It is expected that water electrolysis, powered by renewable energy sources, be able to scale-up hydrogen production. However, the reaction kinetic of oxygen evolution reaction(OER) is a sluggish process, which predominantly limits the efficiency of water electrolysis. This review recapitulates the recent progress and efforts made in the design and development of two selected earth-abundant bimetallic electrocatalysts(Ni Co and Co Fe) for alkaline OER. Each bimetal electrocatalyst is thoroughly outlined and discussed in five sub-sections, including bimetal(oxy) hydroxides, layered double hydroxides(lDHs) structures,oxides, composites, alloy and nanostructured electrocatalysts, and assembled with ***, a brief introduction to an in situ/operando characterization techniques and advantages for monitoring the structure of the electrocatalysts is provided. Finally, a summary outlining the challenges and conceivable approaches to advance OER performance is highlighted and discussed.
