Intracranial aneurysm occurs when a cerebral artery develops an abnormal sac-like dilatation, and will cause massive bleeding in the subarachnoid space upon rupture. Endovascular stenting is a minimally invasive procedure in which a flow-diverting stent is deployed to cover the aneurysm neck, thereby restricting blood from entering the aneurysm and reducing the risk of rupture. The stent porosity, a crucial factor determining the intra-aneurysmal hemodynamics following treatment, is investigated by computational fluid dynamics techniques. Based on the computational results, a low porosity stent will dramatically reduce the flow velocity and the flow rate inside the side branch vessel. Conversely, a high porosity stent may not provide adequate flow reduction inside the aneurysm, possibly causing treatment failure. An advisable range of optimal stent porosity would be 60% to 75%, which can drastically reduce the flow rate into the aneurysm while preserving enough blood flow for the side branch vessel. Clinically, deployment of two or more flow-diverting stents may not increase treatment efficacy but can potentially lead to adverse effects due to side-branch hypoperfusion. The present quantitative analysis can also provide practical insight for future stent design.

Stable Q-switched and mode-locked erbium-doped fiber lasers(EDFLs)are first demonstrated by using the novel layered palladium disulfide(PdS2),a new member of group 10 transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs)-based saturable absorbers(SAs).Self-started Q-switched operation at 1567 nm was achieved with a threshold pump power of 50.6 *** modulation ranges of pulse duration and repetition rate were characterized as 12.6-4.5μs and 17.2-26.0 kHz,***,a mode-locked EDFL was also obtained with a pump power threshold of 106.4 *** achieved pulse duration is 803 fs,corresponding to a center wavelength of 1565.8 nm and4.48 nm 3 dB *** the best of our knowledge,the achieved pulse duration of the mode-locked EDFL in this work is the narrowest compared with all other group 10 TMD SA-based lasers.

Finite element analysis(FEA) method was employed to perform three-dimensional(3D) electric field simulations for gas detectors with multiple wire electrodes.A new element refinement method developed for use in conjunction with the FEA program ANSYS allows successful meshing of the wires without physically inputting the wires in the chamber geometry. First, we demonstrate a model with only one wire, for which we calculate the potential distributions on the central plane and the end-cap region. The results are compared to the calculations obtained using GARFIELD, a two-dimensional program that uses the nearly exact boundary element method. Then we extend the method to same model, but with seven *** results suggest that the new method can be applied easily to the 3D electric field calculations for complicated gas detectors with many wires and complicated geometry such as multiwire proportional chambers and time projection chambers.

Wide-bandgap perovskites are recently drawing tremendous attention in the community for high-efficiency all-perovskite tandem solar ***,the formamidinium (FA^+) and methylammonium (MA^+) based wide-bandgap mixed halide perovskites suffered from high density of traps and pin-holes,*** understanding on the crystallization and film formation processes are keys to overcome those challenges but not yet clearly *** this study,an in-situ photoluminescence technique was used to investigate the perovskite crystallization during the thermal annealing *** is found that the crystallization of a mixed halide perovskite with bromide (Br^-) and iodine (I^-) ions following the Ostward ripening crystal ***,it is found that the initial nucleation reaction is quickly completed in the first few seconds,however,leaving the small crystals with inhomogeneous *** different aggregation affinities of such inhomogeneous small crystals provoke the formation of pin-holes during the thermal annealing *** engineering the precursor solution to control the nucleation rate,the chemical composition of the small crystals has become *** pin-hole free high Br-composited wide-bandgap MA0.9Cs0.1Pb(I0.6Br0.4)3 perovskite films with bandgap energy of 1.8 eV have been *** corresponding photovoltaic devices have achieved an encouraging device efficiency of 15.1% with superb photostability.

The COVID-19 pandemic has raised awareness about various environmental issues,includ-ing PM_(2.5) ***,PM_(2.5) pollution during the COVID-19 lockdown was traced and an-alyzed to clarify the sources and factors influencing PM_(2.5) in Guangzhou,with an emphasis on heavy *** lockdown led to large reductions in industrial and traffic emissions,which significantly reduced PM_(2.5) concentrations in ***,the trend of PM_(2.5) concentrations was not consistent with traffic and industrial emissions,as minimum concentrations were observed in the fourth period(3/01-3/31,22.45 μg/m^(3))of the ***,the concentrations of other gaseous pollutants,e.g.,SO_(2),NO_(2) and CO,were corre-lated with industrial and traffic emissions,and the lowest values were noticed in the sec-ond period(1/24-2/0_(3))of the *** correlation analysis revealed that the decreased PM_(2.5) concentrations during COVID-19 can be mainly attributed to decreased in-dustrial and traffic emissions rather than meteorological *** meteorological factors were included in the PM_(2.5) composition and backward trajectory analyses,we found that long-distance transportation and secondary pollution offset the reduction of primary emissions in the second and third stages of the ***,industrial PM_(2.5) emis-sions from western,southern and southeastern Guangzhou play an important role in the formation of heavy pollution *** results not only verify the importance of control-ling traffic and industrial emissions,but also provide targets for further improvements in PM_(2.5) pollution.

As essential elements of the graphite reflector in thorium-based molten salt reactor,dowel–brick structures are used to withstand complex working loads in the reactor core and their failure may lead to serious damage of the graphite reactor *** is crucial to investigate the stress behavior of dowel–brick structures for safe operation of the graphite *** this study,three groups of finite element analyses and a strain test were carried out to investigate how the geometric parameters of the dowels affect the stress behavior of the dowel–brick *** numerical results indicate that the stress behavior of a dowel–brick structure is significantly affected by the diameter,length,and aspect ratio of the *** maximum stress in the lower and upper bricks decreases with an increase in the dowel *** location of maximum stress on both lower and upper bricks shifts from the root of the socket to the edge of that socket beside the contact region,as the length of the dowel *** shift of the maximum stress location occurs earlier for the upper bricks than for the lower *** results of strain tests show good agreement with those of numerical analyses.
