Neuroendocrine,epigenetic,and intergenerational effects of general anesthetics

The progress of modern medicine would be impossible without the use of general anesthetics(GAs).Despite advancements in refining anesthesia approaches,the effects of GAs are not fully reversible upon GA *** deficiencies attributed to GA exposure may persist in neonates or endure for weeks to years in the *** studies on the mechanisms of the long-term adverse effects of GAs are needed to improve the safety of general anesthesia but they are hampered not only by ethical limitations specific to human research,but also by a lack of specific biological markers that can be used in human studies to safely and objectively study such *** latter can primarily be attributed to an insufficient understanding of the full range of the biological effects induced by GAs and the molecular mechanisms mediating such effects even in rodents,which are far more extensively studied than any other *** most recent experimental findings in rodents suggest that GAs may adversely affect many more people than is currently ***,we have shown that anesthesia with the commonly used GA sevoflurane induces in exposed animals not only neuroendocrine abnormalities(somatic effects),but also epigenetic reprogramming of germ cells(germ cell effects).The latter may pass the neurobehavioral effects of parental sevoflurane exposure to the offspring,who may be affected even at levels of anesthesia that are not harmful to the exposed *** large number of patients who require general anesthesia,the even larger number of their future unexposed offspring whose health may be affected,and a growing number of neurodevelopmental disorders of unknown etiology underscore the translational importance of investigating the intergenerational effects of *** this mini review,we discuss emerging experimental findings on neuroendocrine,epigenetic,and intergenerational effects of GAs.

The effect of the concentration of plastic waste on the formation of reaction products of the Ti–PeT system

The paper presents research results of the synthesis, phase composition, and structure of products obtained by highly exothermic reactions between Ti and C10H8O4mixture components, depending on the plastic waste concentration and Ti powder dispersiveness, density of initial samples, and synthesis medium. The dependence of the phase composition and structure of the synthesis products on the concentration of the polymer（plastic）component in the initial Ti-PeT(C10H8O4) system was found. When the plastic waste content is 20 wt% to 25 wt%, synthesis products contain TiC0.5O0.5–TiC0.6–0.75particle agglomerates. Further growth in the polyethylene terephthalate content from 30 wt% to 45 wt% leads to the formation of synthesis products consisting of titanium carbide(TiC0.6–1.0). The gaseous byproduct composition of the exothermic reaction is investigated for the Ti–-C10H8O4mixture composition. It is found that the gaseous by-product mostly contains hydrogen and carbon monoxide as well as impurities of different hydrocarbons（methane, acetylene, ethane, ethene） and carbon dioxide. The maximum adiabatic temperature of the gas combustion temperature is 2080℃, which demonstrates the possibility of using gas as a fuel for energy generation devices. Based on the data obtained, it is possible to create a basis for a new plastic waste technology to fabricate carbide-containing materials.

The worldwide chicken gene pool encompasses a remarkable,but shrinking,number of divergently selected breeds of diverse *** study was a large-scale genome-wide analysis of the landscape of the complex molecular architecture,genetic variability,and detailed structure among 49 *** populations represent a significant sample of the world's chicken breeds from europe(Russia,Czech Republic,France,Spain,UK,etc.),Asia(China),North America(USA),and Oceania(Australia).Based on the results of breed genotyping using the Illumina 60K single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)chip,a bioinformatic analysis was carried *** included the calculation of heterozygosity/homozygosity statistics,inbreeding coefficients,and effective population *** also included assessment of linkage disequilibrium and construction of phylogenetic *** multidimensional scaling,principal component analysis,and ADMIXTURe-assisted global ancestry analysis,we explored the genetic structure of populations and subpopulations in each *** overall 49-population phylogeny analysis was also performed,and a refined evolutionary model of chicken breed formation was proposed,which included egg,meat,dual-purpose types,and ambiguous *** a large-scale survey of genetic resources in poultry farming using modern genomic methods is of great interest both from the viewpoint of a general understanding of the genetics of the domestic chicken and for the further development of genomic technologies and approaches in poultry *** general,whole genome SNP genotyping of promising chicken breeds from the worldwide gene pool will promote the further development of modern genomic science as applied to poultry.

Paleoproterozoic Underwater Volcanism and Microfossil-Like Structures in the Metasedimentary Siliceous Rocks,Hogland Island,Russia

Geological surveys showed that rhyolite and basalt strata with pillow structures typical for underwater volcanism form sheets over the Svecofennian basement. Original geochemical and isotope-geochemical data confirmed that the rhyolites were formed contemporaneously with the rapakivi granites of the Wiborg Massif（1 640 Ma）, and the basalts are similar to gabbro-anorthosites. Abnormally high content of K2O and relatively low content of Na2O in rhyolites and basalts are interpreted as a result of hydrothermal interaction of eruptive magmas with K-enriched hot seawater. The strata of siliceous metasedimentary rocks（microquartzites） within basaltic and rhyolitic lavas were formed in processes of chemogenic sedimentation and subsequent contact metamorphism during underwater volcanism. Microquartzites showed carbon vastly depleted of heavy isotope 13С. This is typical for rocks formed with participation of living substance. The Raman spectra of the remaining carbon-containing substance have graphite bands. In the microquartzites among basalts and rhyolites we found a community of structures with external and internal morphology similar to modern or fossilized marine microorganisms： spiral cyanobacterias, amoebas, diatoms, foraminifers, virus capsids, flagellates and multicellular organisms. It is assumed that these silificated and ferruginizated microfossils represent the Paleoproterozoic community of marine microorganisms.

The evolution of eccentricity in the eclipsing binary system AS Camelopardalis

In 2002,2004 and 2017 we conducted high precision CCD photometry observations of the eclipsing binary system AS *** analysis of the light curves from 1967 to 2017（our data ＋ data from the literature） we obtained photometric elements of the system and found a change in the system＇s orbital eccentricity of ？e = 0.03 ± *** change can indicate that there is a third companion in the system in a highly inclined orbit with respect to the orbital plane of the central binary,and its gravitational influence may cause the discrepancy between observed and theoretical apsidal motion rates of AS Cam.

Lithospheric stress in Mongolia,from earthquake source data

Lithospheric stress in Mongolia has been studied using mechanisms of 84 M_(LH)≥ 4 earthquakes that occurred in the 20 th century and instrumental seismic moments of 17,375 M_(LH)≥2.5 events recorded between 1970 and *** M_(LH)≥ 3.5 earthquakes mostly have strike-slip mechanisms in southern and central Mongolia,with frequent reverse-slip motions in the west and normal slip in the north,especially,in the area of Lake *** principal stresses are,respectively,S_H>S_v>S_h in the center and in the south;high horizontal compression with S_H>S_h>S_v in the west;and a heterogeneous stress pattern with S_v>S_H>S_h in the *** to seismic moments of M_(LH)=2.5 events,oblique slip generally predominates over the territory,at S_v≈S_H>>S_h,while frequent strike slip motions in the west record high horizontal compression(S_H>S_v>S_h).earthquake mechanisms show the principal horizontal compression S_H to be directed W-e in the east,Ne-SW in the central and Gobi-Altay regions,and approximately N-S in the west of *** patterns of principal lithospheric stresses in the territory of Mongolia have undergone three events of dramatic change for a few recent decades,and these events were synchronous with three similar events in the Baikal rift system(BRS):in the latest 1960 s,latest 1970 s to earliest 1980 s,and in the latest 1980 s to earliest 1990 *** seismicity of Mongolia has been controlled by superposition of variable stresses associated with rifting activity pulses in the neighbor BRS on the background of quasi-stationary super-regional compression.

Impact of drilling waste pollution on land cover in a high subarctic forest-tundra zone

Global climate changes can lead to the destruction of the permafrost zone and contribute to the active transfer of pollutants to natural *** can be especially pronounced in the areas of oil and gas production in the *** study aimed to define the landscape components(i.e.,groundwater,soil water,soil,and indicator plant species)of chemical pollution with metals,oil hydrocarbons,and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons,from the discharge of drill *** at two sites in the forest-tundra zone of Western Siberia(Russia)were carried out within two years of *** migration was found in peaty-gley heavy loamy soils and iron-illuvial clayey podburs,but lateral migration of different pollutants did not exceed 200 ***,radial migration was practically absent owing to the high buffering capacity of the soil organic horizon and the upward flow of matter in the seasonal melt *** main indicators of drilling waste pollution were high concentrations of Sr,Ba,petroleum hydrocarbons,and Cl^(-)*** the waste disposal sites,the concentration of Ba and Sr in the soil water were 1150 and 1410μg L^(-1),respectively;in groundwater,they reached 721 and 2360μg L^(-1),*** the soil,Ba and Sr accumulated in the peaty horizon(798 and 706 mg kg^(-1),respectively).The concentration of Cl^(-)ions in the soil water at the site of waste discharge was 1912 mg L^(-1),and at a distance of 200 m,it decreased to 77.4 mg L^(-1).The Cl^(-)concentration in the groundwater was lower,and at a distance of 200 m,it was 38.9 mg L^(-1).The highest concentration of petroleum hydrocarbons in the surface layer was found in the peaty-gley soils(up to 2400 mg kg^(-1)).In glandular-illuvial podburs,it was 420 mg kg^(-1).In horizons BH and BC,it was close to the background values(27 and 33 mg kg^(-1),respectively).Alkalinization of soils and water under the influence of drill cuttings led to the death of oligotrophic and acidophilic vegetation at a distanc

The article considers the long-term(1941-2018)transformation of the Krasnodar valley reservoir,the largest in the North *** main functions of the Krasnodar reservoir are irrigation of rice systems and flood protection of land in the Krasnodar reservoir region and the Republic of *** to topographic maps,Landsat satellite images(1974-2018)and field observations(2016-2018),four stages of transformation of the floodplain reservoir are *** selected stages are characterized by both natural causes(the transformation of the filling deltas into the extended deltas,etc.)and man-made causes(runoff diversions in the delta areas,etc.).The key factor of transformation is the formation of deltas of rivers flowing into the *** of the selected stages,against the background of a gradual reduction in the area and volume of the reservoir,is characterized by the peculiarities of the formation of river deltas with the formation of genetically homogeneous sections of delta *** the period of operation of the reservoir,the delta of the main Kuban River moved up to 32.4 km and took away an area of 35.4 km^(2) of the *** the formation of the deltas of the Kuban and Belaya rivers,a bridge was formed on the Krasnodar *** evolution of the delta regions led to the division of the reservoir into two autonomous *** total area of the delta regions was 85.9 km^(2) by 2018,i.e.,21% of the initial area of the *** transformation of the Krasnodar reservoir leads to a decrease in its regulated volume and gradual degradation.

Coupled large earthquakes in the Baikal rift system: Response to bifurcations in nonlinear resonance hysteresis

The current lithospheric geodynamics and tectonophysics in the Baikal rift are discussed in terms of a nonlinear oscillator with *** nonlinear oscillator model is applicable to the area because stress change shows up as quasi-periodic inharmonic oscillations at rifting attractor structures （RAS）.The model is consistent with the space-time patterns of regional seismicity in which coupled large earthquakes,proximal in time but distant in space,may be a response to bifurcations in nonlinear resonance hysteresis in a system of three oscillators corresponding to the rifting *** space-time distribution of coupled MLH ＞ 5.5 events has been stable for the period of instrumental seismicity,with the largest events occurring in pairs,one shortly after another,on two ends of the rift system and with couples of smaller events in the central part of the *** event couples appear as peaks of earthquake ‘migration＇ rate with an approximately decadal *** the energy accumulated at RAS is released in coupled large events by the mechanism of nonlinear oscillators with *** new knowledge,with special focus on space-time rifting attractors and bifurcations in a system of nonlinear resonance hysteresis,may be of theoretical and practical value for earthquake prediction *** of the results into the nearest future indicates the probability of such a bifurcation in the region,i.e.,there is growing risk of a pending M ≈ 7 coupled event to happen within a few years.

Testate amoebae communities from some freshwater and soil habitats in China （Hubei and Shandong Provinces）

Seventy-eight species and forms of testate amoebae were identified from 29 freshwater and soil habitats in three territories of China （Shandong and Hubei Provinces）. Most abundant species from the genera Plagiopyxis, Centropyxis and Trinema represent the globally-distributed and eurybiont group of testate amoe- bae. The species richness was observed to be the lowest （7-12 species per biotope） in sandy sediments of the Yangtze River, but considerably higher （20-30 taxa） in soil environment. In the range of terrestrial habitats, the most remote communities from Laoshan Mountain in Shandong Province, China manifested the highest difference from others. On the other hand, communities originated in the most distant from industrial center places （Guifeng Mountain in Hubei Province, China） possess the most peculiar species composition including specific Gondwa- nian taxa （e.g. Nebela bigibbosa）. In sum, the results obtained provide the evidence that the community complexity and specificity reduce in the places located within areas that are highly populated and intensively visited by humans.
