The 18th Workshop on Antarctic Meteorology and Climate was held on 31 May through 2 june *** Antarctic Meteorological Research and Data Center hosted this hybrid workshop at the Pyle Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Madison,WI,*** members of the Antarctic meteorological community gathered to present and discuss topics from scientific research to operational support within Antarctic meteorology and *** and early career professionals chaired various presentations and discussions while all attendees engaged to share results,build collaborative plans,and discuss further *** main workshop topics included updates on the current Automatic Weather Station(AWS)networks,challenges,and planning concerning Antarctic forecasting and operational services,Antarctic numerical modeling systems,observational applications and research,and Antarctic community and data *** six sessions,over 25 different presenters elaborated on their work in areas such as field season updates,atmospheric rivers,remote sensing,the Antarctic Mesoscale Prediction System(AMPS),and forecasting challenges due to data *** discussions resulted in several key outcomes and action items regarding fieldwork impacts,exploration of field techniques,observation coverage,and communication between operations and research *** workshops will provide opportunities for continued discussion on the evolution of the AWS network and operational needs while providing a venue to promote collaboration and cooperation for Antarctic meteorology and climate activities.

*** August 2022 marked the 17th Workshop on Antarctic Meteorology and Climate(WAMC)which was held in a hybrid format at the Pyle Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison(UW-Madison)in Madison,WI,*** workshop is the first partial in-person gathering since the 14th WAMC(Lazzara et al.,2018)as the 15th WAMC was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic,and the 16th WAMC(Bromwich et al.,2022)was purely *** members of the Antarctic meteorological community gathered at this meeting to present and discuss weather-related topics encompassing scientific research and support operations within Antarctic meteorology and *** conversations aimed to share and discuss results,future developments,and build collaborative plans.

Extreme cold temperatures were observed in july and August 2023,coinciding with the WINFLY(winter fly-in)period of mid to late August into September 2023,meaning aircraft operations into McMurdo Station and Phoenix Airfield were adversely ***,with temperatures below−50℃,safe flight operation was not possible because of the risk of failing hydraulics and fuel turning to gel onboard the *** cold temperatures were measured across a broad area of the Antarctic,from East Antarctica toward the Ross Ice Shelf,and stretching across West Antarctica to the Antarctic Peninsula.A review of automatic weather station measurements and staffed station observations revealed a series of sites recording new record low *** separate cold phases were identified,each a few days in duration and occurring from mid-july to the end of August 2023.A brief analysis of 500-hPa geopotential height anomalies shows how the mid-tropospheric atmospheric environment evolves in relation to these extreme cold *** monthly 500-hPa geopotential height anomalies show strong negative anomalies in *** of composite geopotential height anomalies during each of the four cold phases suggests various factors leading to cold temperatures,including both southerly off-content flow and calm atmospheric *** the atmospheric environment that leads to such extreme cold temperatures can improve prediction of such events and benefit Antarctic operations and the study of Antarctic meteorology and climatology.

目的比较伊伐布雷定(Iva)和阿替洛尔(Ate)治疗对大鼠心梗后冠脉储备的保护作用有无差异。方法受试大鼠分为假手术(sham)组、心肌梗死(MI)组、MI+Iva组和MI+Ate组,药物治疗在诱导心肌梗死后开始,疗程28 d。比较大鼠的心梗面积,以及治疗前后的心率、冠脉储备等情况。结果三组心梗大鼠之间基础心率、梗死面积占心室面积的比例均无统计学差异;与MI组相比,术后第28天MI+Iva组和MI+Ate组的心率明显减慢;而MI+Iva组和MI+Ate组相比,术后第28天的心率减慢程度没有统计学差异。与sham组相比,MI组无论游离壁还是室间隔的冠脉储备都显著降低,MI+Ate组室间隔的冠脉储备也显著降低。MI+Iva组无论游离壁还是室间隔的冠脉储备都显著高于MI组和MI+Ate组。结论 Iva治疗对大鼠MI后冠脉储备的保护作用优于Ate。

Interaction of water droplets with pyrolyzing coal particles and tablets

The paper presents the experimental research findings for the patterns of collisions of water droplets with pressed tableted samples used as substrates and with small particles of a pyrolyzing solid *** coal samples were ***-substrate interactions were studied when varying the droplet diameter in the range from 1 to 4 mm and velocity from 0.5 to 4 m/*** corresponded to the Weber number range of *** coal tablet surface temperature was varied from 20 to 700℃.In the interactions of water droplets(0.7-1.5 mm in diameter,pre-collision velocity from 1 to 3 m/s)with coal particles(with a size of 0.2-1 mm,pre-collision velocity 0.7-2 m/s),the temperature of the latter was varied in the range of 330-480℃.The following regimes of the interaction of droplets with solid particles during chemical reactions and phase transformations were distinguished:spreading/agglomeration and break-up/*** in the characteristics of the interaction of water droplets with coal particles at varying temperatures were ***-particle interaction regime maps for B(We),We(Oh)and We(Ca)were *** collision regime boundaries were described using fitted curves that can be utilized to develop the existing mathematical models of droplet-particle collisions in *** was established that the gaseous volatile production in coal pyrolysis has a modest effect on the regimes and characteristics of the droplet destruction in the temperature range under consideration(20-700℃).

Xylariaceae *** 01,an endophytic fungus isolated from the stem of Quercus gilva Blume showed high-glucosidase inhibitory activity.α-Glucosidase inhibitor have the role as one of carbohydrate-hydrolyzing enzymes to postpone absorption of glucose in the digestive *** α-glucosidase inhibitor constituents were isolated from the ethyl acetate extract of the mycellium of endophytic fungi Xylariaceae *** 01 using a bioassay-guided fractionation *** separation and purification of the active fraction led to the isolation of constituents with strong inhibitory activities against-glucosidase:8-hydroxy-6,7-dimethoxy-3-methylisocoumarine(1)with inhibitory concentration(IC50)values against-glucosidase from Saccharomyces cerevisiae of 41.75μg/mL,while quercetin as the standard had an IC50 value of 4.80g/*** results of the present study showed that the endophytic fungus Xylariaceae *** 01 is potentially a rich source of antidiabetic medicine.

Breathing architecture： Conceptual architectural design based on the investigation into the natural ventilation of buildings

This study explores architectural design by examining air, fluid mechanics, and the natural ventilation of buildings. In this context, this research introduces a new way of dealing with the process of architectural synthesis. The proposed way can be used either to create new architectural projects or to rethink existing ones. This study is supported by previous investigation into the natural ventilation of buildings via computational and laboratory simulation （Stavddou, 2011; Stavridou and Prinos, 2013）. The investigation into the natural ventilation of buildings provides information and data that affect architectural design through various parameters. The parameters of architectural synthesis that are influenced and discussed in this paper are the following：（i） inspiration and analogical transfer, （ii） initial conception of the main idea using computationat fluid dynamics （digital design）, （iii） development of the main idea through an investigatory process toward building form optimization, and （iv） form configuration, shape investigation, and other morphogenetic prospects. This study illustrates the effect of natural ventitation research on architectural design and thus produces a new approach to the architectural design process. This approach leads to an innovative kind of architecture called ＂breathing architecture.＂
