Computational Fluid Dynamics Approach for Predicting Pipeline Response to Various Blast Scenarios: A Numerical modeling Study

Recent industrial explosions globally have intensified the focus in mechanical engineering on designing infras-tructure systems and networks capable of withstanding blast *** centered on high-profile facilities such as embassies and petrochemical plants,this concern now extends to a wider array of infrastructures and *** and scholars increasingly prioritize structural safety against explosions,particularly to prevent disproportionate collapse and damage to nearby *** has further amplified the reliance on oil and gas pipelines,making them vital for urban life and prime targets for terrorist ***,there is a growing imperative for computational engineering solutions to tackle blast loading on pipelines and mitigate associated risks to avert *** this study,an empty pipe model was successfully validated under contact blast conditions using Abaqus software,a powerful tool in mechanical engineering for simulating blast effects on buried *** a Eulerian-Lagrangian computational fluid dynamics approach,the investigation extended to above-surface and below-surface blasts at standoff distances of 25 and 50 *** descriptions in the numerical model relied on Abaqus’default mechanical *** analysis revealed varying pipe performance,with deformation decreasing as explosion-to-pipe distance *** explosion’s location relative to the pipe surface notably influenced deformation levels,a key finding highlighted in the ***,quantitative findings indicated varying ratios of plastic dissipation energy(PDE)for different blast scenarios compared to the contact blast(P0).Specifically,P1(25 mm subsurface blast)and P2(50 mm subsurface blast)showed approximately 24.07%and 14.77%of P0’s PDE,respectively,while P3(25 mm above-surface blast)and P4(50 mm above-surface blast)exhibited lower PDE values,accounting for about 18.08%and 9.67%of P0’s PDE,***

many countries are relying on electric vehicles to achieve their future greenhouse gas reduction targets;thus,they are setting regulations to force car manufacturers to a complete shift into producing fully electric vehicles,which will significantly influence the adoption rates of electric *** research investigates the temporal evolution of battery electric vehicle(BEV)ownership growth in Turkey,drawing insights from both historical and current *** employing and optimizing the Gompertz model,we provide a year-by-year projection of BEV ownership rates,aiding in exploring the anticipated timeline for BEV market *** findings indicate that the introduction of BEVs into the Turkish motorization market is poised to push further market saturation by approximately 15 years,to occur in around 2095 as opposed to ***,our analysis underscores the rapid growth pace in BEV ownership compared to the ownership of internal combustion engine vehicles(ICEVs).The main aim of this research is to provide Turkish policymakers and transport planners with solid insights into how the vehicle market will perform in the short and long run,allowing them to prepare a smooth transition from traditional vehicles to BEVs.

Given their numerous functional and architectural benefits,such as improved bearing capacity and increased resistance to elastic instability modes,cold-formed steel(CFS)built-up sections have become increasingly developed and used in recent years,particularly in the construction *** paper presents an analytical and numerical study of assembled CFS two single channel-shaped columns with different slenderness and configurations(backto-back,face-to-face,and box).These columns were joined by double-row rivets for the back-to-back and box configurations,whereas they were welded together for the face-to-face *** built-up columns were filled with ordinary concrete of good *** element models were applied,using ABAQUS software,to assess mechanical performance and study the influence of assembly techniques on the behavior of cold-formed columns under axial *** approaches based on Eurocode 3 and Eurocode 4 recommendations for un-filled and concrete-filled columns respectively were followed for the numerical analysis,and concrete confinement effects were also considered per American Concrete Institute(ACI)standards for face-to-face and box *** obtained results indicated a good correlation between the numerical results and the proposed analytical methodology which did not exceed 8%.The failure modes showed that the columns failed due to instabilities such as local and global buckling.

为了获取均匀的天然气掺氢混合气,确保掺氢燃气管道稳定、安全输送,采用数值模拟与试验相结合的方法研究了天然气与氢气在SmX静态混合器中的掺混特性及影响因素,详细分析了掺混单元数量、运行工况和掺氢体积比等因素对掺混性能的影响。研究结果表明,氢气与天然气的混合主要依赖于混合单元不断改变流动状态,实现左旋和右旋相互交替,达到均匀混合。流动损失主要取决于静态混合器内流动速度,综合考虑SmX静态混合器的压力损失和混合均匀度性能指标,采用4个掺混单元、进口气流速度10 m/s是一个优选方案。此外,增大掺氢体积比和加长流经混合器出口下游管道长度均有利于提升氢气和天然气掺混均匀度,要结合燃气管道的具体情况来确定掺氢体积比的合理范围。

The Sultanate of Oman has been dealing with a severe renewable energy issue for the past few decades,and the government has struggled to find a *** addition,Oman’s strategy for converting power generation to sources of renewable energy includes a goal of 60 percent of national energy demands being met by renewables by 2040,including solar and wind ***,the use of small-scale energy from wind devices has been on the rise in recent *** upward trend is attributed to advancements in wind turbine technology,which have lowered the cost of energy from *** calculate the internal and external factors that affect the small-scale energy of wind technologies,the study used a fuzzy analytical hierarchy process technique for order of preference by similarity to an ideal *** a result,in the decision model,four criteria,seventeen sub-criteria,and three resources of renewable energy were calculated as options from the viewpoint of the Sultanate of *** research is based on an examination of statistics on energy produced by wind turbines at various locations in the Sultanate of ***,six distinct miniature wind turbines were investigated for four different *** outcomes of this study indicate that the tiny wind turbine has a lot of potential in the Sultanate of Oman for applications such as homes,schools,college campuses,irrigation,greenhouses,communities,and small *** government should also use renewable energy resources to help with the renewable energy issue and make sure that the country has enough renewable energy for its long-term growth.

Damage response of conventionally reinforced two-way spanning concrete slab under eccentric impacting drop weight loading

Reinforced concrete(RC)structures are generally designed to carry quasi-static gravity loads through almost indispensable components namely slab,however,it may be subjected to high intense loads induced from the impact of projectiles generated by the tornado,falling construction equipment,and also from accidental explosions during their construction and service *** due to rock/boulder falls do occur on the structures located especially in hilly *** loadings are not predictable but may cause severe damage to the slab/*** stimulates structural engineers and researchers to investigate and understand the dynamic response of RC structures under such impulsive *** research work first investigates the performance of 1000×1000×75 mm^(3)conventionally reinforced two-way spanning normal strength concrete slab with only tension reinforcement(0.88%)under the concentric impact load(1035 N)using the finite element method based computer code,ABAQUS/*** impact load is delivered to the centroid of the slab using a solid-steel cylindroconical impactor(drop weight)with a flat nose of diameter 40 mm,having a total mass of 105 kg released from a fixed height of 2500 *** popular concrete constitutive models in ABAQUS namely;Holmquist-Johnson-Cook(HJC)and Concrete Damage Plasticity(CDP),with strain rate effects as per fib mODEL CODE 2010,are used to model the concrete material behavior to impact loading and to simulate the damage to the *** slab response using these two models is analyzed and compared with the impact test *** strain rate effect on the reinforcing steel bars has been incorporated in the analysis using the malvar and Crawford(1998)approach.A classical elastoplastic kinematic idealization is considered to model the steel impactor and support *** reveal that the HJC model gives a little overestimation of peak displacement,maximum acceleration,and damage of the slab while the predictions given by

Ellipsometric configurations using a phase retarder and a rotating polarizer and analyzer at any speed ratio

In this paper, we propose an ellipsometer using a phase retarder and rotating polarizer and analyzer at a speed ratio I：N. Different ellipsometric configurations are presented by assuming N = 1, 2, and 3. moreover, two values of the offset angle of the retarder are considered for each ellipsometric configuration. The mueller formalism is employed to extract the Stokes parameters, from which the intensity received by the detector is obtained. The optical properties of c-Si are calculated using all configurations. A comparison between different configurations is carried out considering the effect of the noise on the results and the uncertainties in the ellipsometric parameters as functions of the uncertainties of the Fourier coefficients. It is found that the alignment of the phase retarder has a crucial impact on the results and the ellipsometric configuration with speed ratio 1：1 is preferred over the other configurations.

In this paper we propose theoretically a set of ellipsometric configurations using a rotating polarizer, compensator, and analyzer at a speed ratio of N1ω：N2ω：N3ω. Different ellipsometric configurations can be obtained by giving different integral values to N1, N2, and N3. All configurations are applied to bulk c-Si and GaAs to calculate the real and imaginary parts of the refractive index of the samples. The accuracies of all ellipsometric configurations are investigated in the presence of a hypothetical noise and with small misalignments of the optical elements. moreover, the uncertainties in the ellipsometric parameters as functions of the uncertainties of the Fourier coefficients are studied. The comparison among different configurations reveals that the rotating compensator–analyzer configuration corresponds to the minimum error in the calculated optical parameters.
