Objective:To evaluate the antimicrobial activity of Turbinaria conoides(***).padina gymnospora(***) and Sargassum tenerrimum against human bacterial and fungal ***:The antimicrobial activities of the extracts against various organisms were tested by using disc diffusion ***:The methanol extract showed the better result than the other ***,the strong antibacterial inhibition was noted in methanol extracts of *** against Bacillus subtilus(26.33±1.86) and the mild inhibition of ethanol extracts from *** against Klebsiella pneumoniae(2.33±0.51).Acetone extraction of p. gymnospora had strong antifungal inhibition against Cryptococcus neoformans(23.00±1.78), and acetone extract of *** had mild inhibition against Aspergillus niger(3.00±0.89). Conclusions:The seven different solvent extracts of seaweeds used in the present study have shown significant bacterial ***,a detailed study on the principle compound in the seaweeds which is responsible for antimicrobial activity is still needed and it can be achieved by using advanced separation techniques.

Excitons,bound electron–hole pairs,in two-dimensional hybrid organic inorganic perovskites(2D HOIps)are capable of forming hybrid light-matter states known as exciton-polaritons(E–ps)when the excitonic medium is confined in an optical *** the case of 2D HOIps,they can self-hybridize into E–ps at specific thicknesses of the HOIp crystals that form a resonant optical cavity with the ***,the fundamental properties of these self-hybridized E–ps in 2D HOIps,including their role in ultrafast energy and/or charge transfer at interfaces,remain ***,we demonstrate that>0.5µm thick 2D HOIp crystals on Au substrates are capable of supporting multiple-orders of self-hybridized E–p *** E–ps have high Q factors(>100)and modulate the optical dispersion for the crystal to enhance sub-gap absorption and *** varying excitation energy and ultrafast measurements,we also confirm energy transfer from higher energy E–ps to lower energy E–***,we also demonstrate that E–ps are capable of charge transport and transfer at *** findings provide new insights into charge and energy transfer in E–ps opening new opportunities towards their manipulation for polaritonic devices.

Magnetic nanowires(NWs)are ideal materials for the fabrication of various multifunctional nanostructures which can be manipulated by an external magnetic fi *** crystalline and textured nanowires of nickel(Ni NWs)and cobalt(Co NWs)with high aspect ratio(~330)and high coercivity have been synthesized by electrodeposition using nickel sulphate hexahydrate(NiSO_(4)·6H_(2)O)and cobalt sulphate heptahydrate(CoSO_(4)·7H_(2)O)respectively on nanoporous alumina *** exhibit a preferential growth along〈110〉.A general mobility assisted growth mechanism for the formation of Ni and Co NWs is *** role of the hydration layer on the resulting one-dimensional geometry in the case of potentiostatic electrodeposition is verified.A very high interwire interaction resulting from magnetostatic dipolar interactions between the nanowires is *** unusual low-temperature magnetisation switching for fi eld parallel to the wire axis is evident from the peculiar high fi eld M(T)curve.

A retrospective Aliskiren and Losartan study in non-diabetic chronic kidney disease

AIM： To assess the effcacy of combined Aliskiren and Losartan vs high dose Losartan and Aliskiren alone in chronic kidney disease （CKD）.METHODS： This is a retrospective study of 143 pa-tients with non-diabetic CKD comparing combined Aliskiren （150 mg/d） with Losartan （100 mg/d） therapy vs High dose Angiotensin receptor blockers （ARB）（Losartan 200 mg/d） and the third group Aliskiren （150 mg/d） alone. This study involved only patient medi-cal records. Entry criteria included those patients who had been treated with the above drugs for at least 36 mo within the 5 years period; other criteria included proteinuria of 1 g or more and or CKD Stage 3 at the start of the 36 mo period. The study utilised primary renal end points of estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate （eGFR）〈 15 mL/min or end stage renal failure. RESULTS： patients treated with high dose ARB com-pared to the other two treatment groups had signifcantly less proteinuria at the end of 36 mo （ p 〈 0.007）. All 3 groups had signifcant reduction of proteinuria （ p 〈 0.043, p 〈 0.001）. Total urinary protein was signifcantly differ-ent between the 3 groups over the 3-year study period （ p = 0.008）, but not eGFR. The changes in eGFR from baseline to each year were not signifcantly different be-tween the 3 therapeutic groups （ p 〈 0.119）. There were no significant differences in the systolic and diastolic blood pressure between the 3 drug groups throughout the 3 years. The incidence of hyperkalemia （〉 5.5 mmol/L） was 14.2% （7/49） in the Combined Aliskiren and ARB group, 8.7% （4/46） in the Aliskiren alone group and 6.3% （3/48） in the High dose ARB group （ p 〈 0.001）.CONCLUSION： This study in non-diabetic CKD pa-tients showed that Combination therapy with Aliskiren and ARB was effective but was not safe as it was asso-ciated with a high prevalence of hyperkalaemia.
