Antifertility effects of quinestrol in male lesser bandicoot rat, Bandicota bengalensis, and potential in managing rodent population under field conditions

Integrating fertility control techniques using steroid hormones after lethal control can help reduce post control rebuildup of rodent *** current study is thefirst to assess the antifertility effects of quinestrol in male lesser bandicoot rat,Bandicota bengalensis which is the predominant rodent pest species in Southeast *** in different groups were fed bait containing 0.00%,0.01%,0.02%,and 0.03%quinestrol for 10 days in laboratory and evaluated immediately,and 15,30,and 60 days after treatment discontinuation for effect on reproduction and other antifertility *** of 0.03%quinestrol treatment for 15 days was also observed in managing rodent populations in groundnut *** resulted in average consumption of 19.53±1.80,67.63±5.50,and 246.67±1.78 mg/kg bwt active ingredient by three treated groups of rats,*** reproduction was observed in female rats mated with male rats treated with 0.03%quinestrol,even 30 days after cessation of ***-mortem examination showed a significant(P<0.0001)effect of treatment on organ weights(testis,cauda epididymis,seminal vesicles,and prostate gland)and different sperm parameters(sperm motility,sperm viability,sperm count,and sperm abnormality)in the cauda epididymalfluid with partial reversibility after 60 days.A significant(P<0.0001)effect of quinestrol on the histomorphology of testis and cauda epididymis was observed,suggesting its effect on *** cell association and cell count in seminiferous tubules did not fully recover within 60 days of stopping *** of the effects of quinestrol treatment in groundnutfields showed greater reductions in rodent activity infields treated with 2%zinc phosphide followed by 0.03%quinestrol treatment as compared tofields treated with 2%zinc phosphide *** concludes that quinestrol has the potential to reduce fecundity and post control rebuildup of *** populations,but long-term studies

Despite significant advances in our understanding of the molecular pathogenesis of liver cancer and the availability of novel pharmacotherapies,liver cancer remains the fourth leading cause of cancer-related mortality *** relapse,resistance to current anti-cancer drugs,metastasis,and organ toxicity are the major challenges that prevent considerable improvements in patient survival and quality of *** bovis(CB),an ancient Chinese medicinal drug,has been used to treat various pathologies,including stroke,convulsion,epilepsy,pain,and *** this editorial,we discuss the research findings recently published by Huang et al on the therapeutic effects of CB in inhibiting the development of liver *** the comprehensive transcriptomic analyses,in vitro experiments,and in vivo studies,the authors demonstrated that CB treatment inhibits the tumor-promoting M2 phenotype of tumor-associated macrophages via downregulating Wnt *** multiple studies have been performed to explore the molecular mechanisms regulated by CB,this study uniquely shows its role in modulating the M2 phenotype of macrophages present within the tumor *** study opens new avenues of future investigations aimed at investigating this drug’s efficacy in various mouse models including the effects of combination therapy,and against drug-resistant tumors.

The Direction of Slant and Horizontal Stroke as Potential Suggestive Markers for the Determination of Handedness

Background:The task of document examiners is very challenging,as they need to gather all the relevant facts to make an informed decision regarding the questioned *** the present study,a total of 300 handwriting samples from 100 different writers(involving 50 right-handed and 50 left-handed)were collected at Bundelkhand University,*** and stroke,as characteristic features of handwriting,were visually examined under a stereomicroscope to ascertain the ***:Slants and Strokes as characteristic features were analyzed in a total of 300 handwriting samples collected from 50 left-handed and 50 right-handed writers of age 17–22 years.A reference text comprising three pangram sentences printed on A4 paper and a blue ball point pen was used for ***:The data collected during the study were analyzed using a statistical method(Chi-square test)and revealed that the left-handed writers(LHWs)had a significantly(P<0.05)different writing style than the right-handed *** indicated that LHWs are more likely to make strokes in the right-to-left direction and slant of letters in the backward direction,while right-handed writers make strokes in the left-to-right direction and slant of letters in the forward ***:The findings of the study showed valuable insight and highlighted the significance of the direction of slant and horizontal stroke as potential indicators for the determination of handedness.

Impact of clopidogrel treatment on platelet function and thrombogenecity in diabetic patients undergoing elective coronary stenting

High platelet reactivity (HPR) and suboptimal response to dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) may explain high recurrent rates of ischemic events in Type II diabetes mellitus (DM) patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). The aim of this study was to examine the effect of clopidogrel on platelet reactivity, and thrombogenecity between DM and non-DM PCI-treated patients (n = 138). Patients were categorized according to clopidogrel treatment and DM status. Patients received a maintenance-dose clopidogrel of 75 mg/d (C75 group, n = 72) or a 600 mg clopidogrel loading-dose in clopidogrel na?ve patients (C600 group, n = 66). Platelet function was assessed by thrombelastography, flow cytometry, VerifyNowTM aspirin assay and light transmittance aggregometry (LTA). Aspirin response was similar between treatments and DM status. In the C75 group, DM patients had higher 5 and 20 μM ADP-, 2 μg/ml collagen-induced LTA;and p-selectin expression compared to non-DM patients (p ≤ 0.05 for all). DM patients in the C600 group had higher 5 and 20 μM ADP-induced LTA post dosing (p p 12 receptor antagonists.

A systematic review of cytoreductive prostatectomy outcomes and complications in oligometastatic disease

Objective: To analyze outcomes and complications of cytoreductive prostatectomy (CRP) for oligometastatic prostate cancer (PCa) in order to elucidate its role in this ***: We performed a systematic literature search using three databases (Medline, Scopus, and Web of Science). The primary endpoints were oncologic outcomes. The secondary endpoints were complication rates and functional ***: In all studies, overall survival was better or at least comparable variable in the groups with CRP compared to no local treatment. The greatest benefit from CRP in 5-year overall survival in one study was 67.4% for CRP versus 22.5% for no local treatment. Cancer-specific survival (CSS) showed the same trend. Several authors found significant benefits from CSS in the CRP group: from 79% vs. 46% to 100% vs. 61%. CRP was a predictor of better CSS (hazard ratio 0.264, p=0.004). Positive surgical margin rates differed widely from 28.6% to 100.0%. Urinary continence in CRP versus RP for localized PCa was significantly lower (57.4% vs. 90.8%, p<0.0001). Severe incontinence occurred seldom (2.5%-18.6%). Total complication rates after CRP differed widely, from 7.0% to 43.6%. Rates of grades 1 and 2 events prevailed. Patients on ADT alone also showed a considerable number of complications varying from 5.9% to 57.7%.Conclusion: CRP improves medium-term cancer control in patients with oligometastatic PCa. The morbidity and complication rates of this surgery are comparable with other approaches, but postoperative incontinence rate is higher compared with RP for localized disease.

In the last two decades,renewable energy has been paid immeasurable attention to toward the attainment of electricity requirements for domestic,industrial,and agriculture *** forecasting plays a vital role in smooth operation,scheduling,and balancing of electricity production by standalone PV plants as well as grid interconnected solar PV *** models and techniques have been developed in short,mid and long-term solar *** paper analyzes some of the potential solar forecasting models based on various methodologies discussed in literature,by mainly focusing on investigating the influence of meteorological variables,time horizon,climatic zone,pre-processing techniques,air pollution,and sample size on the complexity and accuracy of the *** make the paper reader-friendly,it presents all-important parameters and findings of the models revealed from different studies in a tabular mode having the year of publication,time resolution,input parameters,forecasted parameters,error metrics,and *** literature studied showed that ANN-based models outperform the others due to their nonlinear complex problem-solving *** accuracy can be further improved by hybridization of the two models or by performing pre-processing on the input ***,it also discusses the diverse key constituents that affect the accuracy of a *** has been observed that the proper selection of training and testing period along with the correlated dependent variables also enhances the accuracy of the model.

Effect of Biogas Digested Liquid on CH_4 and N_2O Flux in Paddy Ecosystem

Biogas production generates digested slurry as a byproduct. It can be used as a fertilizer especially after its conversion into digested liquid. A pot based study was conducted in order to evaluate the effect of the application of digested liquid on CH4 and N2O flux, and plant biomass in paddy. Analysis revealed that digested liquid treated soils released more CH4 compared to ammonium sulphate and the control. Ammonium sulphate treated soil emitted the highest N20 whereas digested liquid application decreased its emission significantly. Further, the cumulative emission over 101 d of the experiment was found to be higher for CHa （16.9 to 29.9 g m^-2） compared to N20 （-49.3 to 18.9 mg m^-2） for all treatments. Digested liquid application had positive impact on plant variables such as panicle number and weight of panicles. This study suggests that digested liquid application significantly decrease N20 emission and increase CH4 emission possibly due to affecting the availability of organic C in the soil to microbial activity for methanogenesis. Another possibility for enhancing CH4 emission by following biogas digested liquid could be attributed to the increase in plant biomass.

Automated segmentation technique with self-driven post-processing for histopathological breast cancer images

Automated segmentation of histopathological images is a challenging task to detect cancerous cells in breast *** reviews state high accuracy to segment image,but depends on user input,say window area size,time steps,level set,magnification factor and so *** extract the region of interest effectively,the subject expert performs post-processing operations several times on the segmentation results with different input values for different parameters say,area opening,fill holes and selects most appropriate enhanced image required for further *** authors proposed an automated segmentation technique followed by self-driven post-processing operations to detect cancerous cells *** post-processing method itself determines the value of different parameters for different operations based on segmented results *** proposed technique has the following features:(i)technique is context sensitive;(ii)no prior setting of time step,weighted area coefficient parameters is required;(iii)magnification independent;(iv)post-processing operations are self-driven which enhance segmentation results *** experimental results are compared with four state-of-the-art techniques:fuzzy C-means,spatial fuzzy C-means,spatial neutrosophic distance regularised level set and convolutional neural network-based *** results obtained on two publicly available data sets show that the proposed technique outperforms effectively.

A Tree-Based Approach for Efficient and Accurate Conjunction Analysis

Conjunction analysis is the study of possible collisions between objects in *** conjunction analysis algorithms are geared towards computing the collision probability between any two resident space ***,there are few heuristic methods available to select which objects should be considered for a detailed collision analysis.A simple all-on-all collision analysis results in an O(N2)procedure,which quickly becomes intractable for large *** main objective of this research work is to preemptively determine which catalogued objects should be considered for a more detailed conjunction analysis,significantly reducing the number of object pairs to be *** heart of the approach lies in the efficient kd-tree *** has been found that this binary search method significantly reduces computational cost to a tractable complexity of O(N logN).The conventional tree-based search is modified slightly by accounting for probabilistic nearest neighbors via the Hellinger ***,the method is extended to account for Non-Gaussian errors via the inclusion of Gaussian Mixture *** has been found that the reduced computational complexity of the kd-tree is maintained,while the applicability of the method is extended to uncertain cases.
