Plas.ic s.ze effects.in s.ngle crys.als.are inves.igated by us.ng finite s.rain and s.all s.rain dis.rete dis.ocation plas.icity to analys. the res.ons. of cantilever beam s.ecimens. Crys.als.with both one and two active s.ip s.s.ems.are analys.d, as.well as.s.ecimens.with different beam as.ect ratios. Over the range of s.ecimen s.zes.analys.d here,the bending s.res. vers.s.applied tip dis.lacement res.ons. has.a s.rong hardening plas.ic component. This.hardening rate increas.s.with decreas.ng s.ecimen s.ze. The hardening rates.are s.ightly lower when the finite s.rain dis.rete dis.ocation plas.icity（DDP） formulation is.employed as.curving of the s.ip planes.is.accounted for in the finite s.rain *** relaxes.the back-s.res.es.in the dis.ocation pile-ups.and thereby reduces.the hardening rate. Our calculations.s.ow that in line with the pure bending cas., the bending s.res. in cantilever bending dis.lays.a plas.ic s.ze dependence. However, unlike pure bending, the bending flow s.rength of the larger as.ect ratio cantilever beams.is.appreciably *** is.attributed to the fact that for the s.me applied bending s.res., longer beams.have lower s.ear forces.acting upon them and this.res.lts.in a lower dens.ty of s.atis.ically s.ored dis.ocations.

CrN coated s.eels.as.is.ed with a nano Cr interlayer were inves.igated. The Cr nano-interlayers.were prepared by s.utter depos.tion with a thicknes. about 70-100 nm. CrN coatings.were als. prepared by s.utter depos.tion on the Cr nano-interlayers. The crys.al s.ructures. microhardnes., and s.ratch res.s.ance of CrN/Cr coatings.were determined. Res.lts.s.ow that the Cr nano-interlayers.improve s.ratch res.s.ance and the microhardnes. of CrN coated s.eels. A rapid heat treatment with infrared （IR） was.performed for coated s.ecimens.in the attempt to improve bonding, With IR heat treatments. the beneficial effect of the Cr nano-interlayers.was.clearly obs.rved. Without the Cr nano-interlayers. s.vere cracks.on the s.rface of coatings.were obs.rved after IR heat treatment. However, with a Cr interlayer, no cracks.on the s.rface of CrN coatings.were obs.rved after the heat treatment. The s.ratch res.s.ance of coatings.was.als. affected by the Cr nano-interlayers. The s.ratch track was.clean and s.owed s.gnificantly s.aller amount of s.ratch debris.for CrN coatings.with Cr interlayers.than thos. without the Cr nano-interlayers. The microhardnes. of coatings.with the Cr nano-interlayers.is.higher than thos. without the Cr nano-interlayers.after IR heat treatment. The Cr and CrN phas. have been identified with X-ray diffraction analys.s. and the res.lts.s.ow that the higher the nitrogen content in the s.uttering gas. the s.ronger the CrN peaks.obs.rved in the diffraction patterns.are.

The alkylation of toluene with methanol for the s.lective formation of p-xylene was.s.s.ematically s.udied. Very few s.udies.have been reported on the us. of s.peracids.s.ch as.heteropolyacids.on cheap s.pports. s.ch as.clay. This.article deals.with the us. of different heteropoly acids.（HPAs., viz, Dodeca-Tungs.ophos.horic acid [***2O] （TPA）, Dodeca-Molyhdo phos.horic acid ammonium s.lt hydrate [H12Mo12N3O40P＋aq] （DMAA）, Dodeca-Molyhdo Phos.horic acid （PMA） on clay （MontmoriUonite, K-10） and as.s.ch plain clay. This.comparative s.udy reveals.that 20%PMA/Clay s.ows.62% toluene convers.on and 100% s.lectivity toward p-xylene.

The s.ectros.opic properties.of lithium borate glas.es.as.a function of Nd3＋ ions.concentration were *** abs.rption s.ectra of thes. glas.es.s.owed a number of abs.rption bands.in ultra violet and vis.ble *** abs.rption edge was.found to s.ift towards.the longer wavelength（red s.ift） with increas. in *** s.ectra revealed three major bands.at 902, 1063 and 1334 nm which was.due to 4F3/2→4I9/2, 11/2 ＆13/2 trans.tions.of Nd3＋ *** intens.ty was.maximum for 1 mol.% Nd2O3 and further increas. in Nd2O3 res.lted in lumines.ence *** lumines.ence quenching behavior at higher concentration of Nd2O3 was.attributed to the Nd3＋-Nd3＋ interaction in the glas. *** abs.rption and emis.ion property of thes. glas.es.s.gges.ed that thes. glas.es.could be us.ful for 1.06 μm infrared las.r applications.

Alzheimer’s.dis.as.(hereafter AD) is.a progres.ive neurodegenerative dis.rder that affects.the central nervous.s.s.em. There are multiple factors.that caus. AD, viz., accumulation of extracellular Amyloid-beta 42 plaques. intracellular hyper-phos.horylated Tau tangles. generation of reactive oxygen s.ecies.due to mitochondrial dys.unction and genetic mutations. The plaques.and tau tangles.trigger aberrant s.gnaling, which eventually caus. cell death of the neurons. As.a res.lt, there is.s.rinkage of brain, cognitive defects. behavioral and ps.chological problems. To date, there is.no direct cure for AD. Thus. s.ientis.s.have been tes.ing various.s.rategies.like s.reening for the s.all inhibitor molecule library or natural products.that may block or prevent ons.t of AD. His.orically, natural products.have been us.d in many cultures.for the treatment of various.dis.as.s. The res.arch on natural products.have gained importance as.the active compounds.extracted from them have medicinal values.with reduced s.de effects. and they are bioavailable. The natural products.may target the proteins.or members.of s.gnaling pathways.that get altered in s.ecific dis.as.s. Many natural products.are being tes.ed in various.animal model s.s.ems.for their role as.a potential therapeutic target for AD, and to addres. ques.ions.about how thes. natural products.can res.ue AD or other neurodegenerative dis.rders. s.me of thes. products.are in clinical trials.and res.lts.are promis.ng becaus. of their neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-amyloidogenic, anticholines.eras. activities.and eas. availability. This.review s.mmarizes.the us. of animal model s.s.ems.to identify natural products. which may s.rve as.potential therapeutic targets.for AD.
