In this paper,we consider an imperfect production-inventory system which consists of a single manufacturer and a single retailer.The manufacturer delivers the order quantity to the retailer in some unequal-sized batches.To separate the defective items,the retailer performs an error-free screening process after receiving each delivery from the manufacturer.Shortage in retailer’s inventory is allowed and completely backlogged.The customer demand is influenced by the retail price,advertisement frequency and greening level of the product.The centralized model and the decentralized model based on a Stackelberg gaming approach are developed to determine optimal pricing,advertising and inventory decisions.A cost-sharing contract between the manufacturer and the retailer is implemented,which enhances the environmental performance,advertisement frequency and profitability of the supply chain significantly.The proposed model is illustrated with a numerical example.Sensitivity analysis for some key parameters is carried out and several managerial insights are also highlighted.

Due to abundant availability,biofuel production from bamboo residues is gaining popularity.Bamboo biomass and its residues are widely available in the north-eastern part of India,which can be sustainably exploited for green energy production.The aim of the present study was to evaluate the pretreatments of dewaxed bamboo residues with dilute alkali(NaOH),and dilute acid,and the effect of pretreatment on biomass hydrolysis was performed with a commercial enzyme(Zytex).Results showed that maximum fermentable sugars were 490 mg/g obtained from 10%biomass with 0.6%(w/v)of alkali,and acid pretreated biomass produced 320 mg/g of sugars from 2%(w/v)acid with 10%biomass.Changes in biomass structure during the pretreatment process are correlated with FTIR,SEM,and component analysis for lignin,cellulose,and hemicelluloses.Fermentation studies of the hydrolysate showed that the yield of ethanol was 77%of the theoretical maximum at 36 h.Results indicate the scope of utilization of bamboo residues as substrates for biofuels,and alkaline pretreatment is an effective pretreatment process for bioethanol production.

Water is an essential natural resource without which life wouldn’t exist.The study aims to identify groundwater potential areas in Vepapanthattai taluk of Perambalur district,Tamil Nadu,India,using analytic hierarchy process(AHP)model.Remote sensing and magnetic parameters have been used to determine the evaluation indicators for groundwater occurrence under the ArcGIS environment.Groundwater occurrence is linked to structural porosity and permeability over the predominantly hard rock terrain,making magnetic data more relevant for locating groundwater potential zones in the research area.NE-SW and NW-SE trending magnetic breaks derived from reduction to pole map are found to be more significant for groundwater exploration.The lineaments rose diagram indicates the general trend of the fracture to be in the NE-SW direction.Assigned normalised criteria weights acquired using the AHP model was used to reclassify the thematic layers.As a result,the taluk’s low,moderate,and high potential zones cover 25.08%,25.68%and 49.24%of the study area,respectively.The high potential zones exhibit characteristics favourable for groundwater infiltration and storage,with factors as gentle slope of<3°,high lineament densities,magnetic breaks,magnetic low zones as indicative of dykes and cracks,lithology as colluvial deposits and land surface with dense vegetation.The depth of the fracture zones was estimated using power spectrum and Euler Deconvolution method.The groundwater potential mapping results were validated using groundwater level data measured from the wells,which indicated that the groundwater potential zoning results are consistent with the data derived from the real world.

Atrial fibrillation(AF)is the most common form of cardiac arrhythmia,affecting 3 to 6 million people in the US,with an increased incidence in women and elderly,with its prevalence estimated to increase from 5.1 million in 2000 to 15.9 million in 2050 in the US population.[1]Age,hypertension,heart failure,myocardial infarction(MI),genetic factors,and associated systemic inflammatory states are well-established risk factors for the development of AF.[2–6]Lifestyle factors including alcohol consumption,smoking,obesity,sedentary lifestyle,and vigorous physical activity have also been implicated to contribute to the development of AF.[2,7–9]Studies suggest that AF drives up medical expenditure.[10]The European Society of Cardiology,based on the duration,responsiveness to treatment,and therapeutic attitude of the patient and physician,classifies AF into 4 types;when AF occurs and terminates by itself or by intervention within 7 days of onset,it is called paroxysmal AF;if sustained for more than a week,with or without intervention.

Graphene and its derivatives are the hot topics of research during this decade due to their excellent thermal conductivities,mechanical strength,current densities,electron motilities,and large surface area.This review article explores the outstanding applicability and features of graphene derivatives.The transition metal oxides(TMOs)have also gained considerable research attention due to their unique physicochemical properties in photocatalytic,self-cleaning,and gas sensing applications.Among TMOs,tungsten metal oxides have received a tremendous response as they are naturally abundant,low in cost,less toxic,environmental friendly,and can be manufactured using various physical and chemical methods.It exhibits a cubic perovskite-like structure based on the corner-sharing of regular octahedra with the oxygen atoms at the corner and the tungsten atoms at the centre of each octahedron.It also shows structural polymorphism and sub stoichiometric phase transitions,which attracted the attention of researchers over the past few years to explore their potential in various applications.Pairing graphene and its derivatives with tungsten oxide(WO_(3))to create heterojunction could be an auspicious tool to improve photocatalysis,energy storage,medical,electrochromism,and energy efficiency conversion.In addition,composite exhibits significantly higher efficiency than either individual material due to their well-matched band edge positions,efficient charge separation,and light-harvesting abilities.The morphology and heterojunction were found to be quite beneficial in improving the overall performance of the composite.In this review article,the noteworthy endeavors and turning points are accomplished utilizing heterojunction between WO_(3)and graphene derivatives for different applications.This review article will also provide the research gap and excite new ideas for further improvement of graphene-based tungsten oxide nanocomposites.Conclusively,the scope of future research work to design the ternary composite with high efficie

We studied seed morphometric characters, oil content and azadirachtin content in a medicinally important and insect repellent tree species Azadirachta indica A.Juss. Ten populations were selected from two central Indian states of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh and twenty candidate plus trees were selected from each population based on tree attributes. Azadirachtin content was estimated in seeds, in vitro shoots and callus cultures through HPLC. Significant variation（p ／ 0.05） was observed in seed morphometric characters, oil content and azadirachtin content among the ten populations. Maximum value for 100 seed weight was obtained in seeds of Raigarh（30.51 g） which was on par with seeds of Bargi（28.37 g）and Chhatarpur（26.36 g）. The ratio of highest kernel to seed was also obtained in seeds of Raigarh（60.11%）.Kernels from Chhatarpur population recorded the highest oil content（24.20%）, which was equal to that in Sihore（23.75%） and Katni（21.75%）. We recorded highly significant variation in azadirachtin content in seed samples,in vitro shoot samples and callus cultures. Maximum azadirachtin was present in the seeds of Gwalior（0.882%）which was on par with azadirachtin content in seeds of Chhatarpur, Katni, Sihore, Shahdol and Chhindwara.Maximum azadirachtin in the in vitro shoots was present in the cultures of Gwalior（0.218%） which was statistically on par with Sihore（0.176%）. Similarly, in callus cultures of nodal segments maximum azadirachtin was recorded in the Gwalior population（0.033%） which was statistically on par with Sihore（0.028%）. The trees of Gwalior and Sihore populations can be produced in large numbers through vegetative propagation to obtain seeds with higher azadirachtin content.

Lead(Pb) is recorded as the second most hazardous pollutant of the environment.Previous cases of Pb bioremediation has been reported using single biosystem,but very few reports are available in biological approaches using multi-biosystems to achieve an enhanced bioremoval of Pb.The present study evaluated the capacity of a unique association of Pennisetum purpureum,a hyperaccumulator plant,and Lumbricus terrestris(earthworm)bioaugmented with a Pb-resistant bacterium,obtained from an industrially contaminated site and identified as isolate VITMVCJ1 Klebsiella variicola,to bioremediate Pb.The Pb-resistant gene was amplified in the bacterial isolate VITMVCJ1.The study was conducted for 60 d.Results verified that the bioaugmentation process enhanced1)root and shoot length of the plants,2)chlorophyll content of the plants,and 3)biofilm-producing ability of the microbes from the rhizosphere region of the plants.The total phenolic and flavonoid contents were found to be lower in the plants in the bioaugmented setup.The study also observed a reduction in the toxic effects of Pb on earthworm and plant.The earthworm was used to assess the Pb-induced stress syndrome after exposure to sublethal concentrations of Pb in the soil.A reduction in the content of malondialdehyde,a potential biomarker,on exposure to Pb demonstrated the role of the inoculum to alleviate heavy metal-induced stress in earthworms.All three symbionts accumulated Pb;Pb was accumulated mainly in the root of the plant,and poorly in the shoot of the plant and body mass of the earthworm.The bioaugmentation system exhibited stable and excellent uptake of Pb from the contaminated soils.The results of the present study suggest the positive effect of the synergistic association of the plant and earthworm with appropriate microbes for the bioremoval of Pb.

Diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN)is a long-term complication associated with nerve dysfunction and uncontrolled hyperglycemia.In spite of new drug discoveries,development of effective therapy is much needed to cure DPN.Here,we have developed a combinatorial approach to provide biochemical and electrical cues,considered to be important for nerve regeneration.Exosomes derived from bone marrow mesenchymal stromal cells(BMSCs)were fused with polypyrrole nanoparticles(PpyNps)containing liposomes to deliver both the cues in a single delivery vehicle.We developed DPN rat model and injected intramuscularly the fused exosomal system to understand its long-term therapeutic effect.We found that the fused system along with electrical stimulation normalized the nerve conduction velocity(57.60±0.45 m/s)and compound muscle action potential(16.96±0.73 mV)similar to healthy control(58.53±1.10 m/s;18.19±1.45 mV).Gastrocnemius muscle morphology,muscle mass,and integrity were recovered after treatment.Interestingly,we also observed paracrine effect of delivered exosomes in controlling hyperglycemia and loss in body weight and also showed attenuation of damage to the tissues such as the pancreas,kidney,and liver.This work provides a promising effective treatment and also contribute cutting edge therapeutic approach for the treatment of DPN.

Global climate change and ongoing plant invasion are the two prominent ecological issues threatening biodiversity world wide.Among invasive species,Lantana camara and Hyptis suaveolens are the two most important invaders in the dry deciduous forest in India.We monitored the growth of these two invasive species and seedlings of four native dry deciduous species(Acacia catechu,Bauhinia variegata,Dalbergia latifolia and Tectona grandis)under ambient(375–395μmol mol^(-1))and elevated CO_(2)(700–750μmol mol^(-1))to study the differential growth response of invasive and native seedlings.Methods Seedlings of all the species were exposed to ambient and elevated CO_(2).After 60 days of exposure,seedlings were harvested and all the growth-related parameters like plant height;biomass of root,stem and leaves;total seedling biomass;R/S ratio;allocation parameters;net assimilation rate(NAR)and relative growth rate(RGR)were determined.Important Findings Biomass,RGR and NAR of all the species increased under elevated CO_(2)but the increase was higher in invasive species and they formed larger seedlings than natives.Therefore under the CO_(2)-enriched future atmosphere,competitive hierarchies could change and may interfere with the species composition of the invaded area.
