successful double fertilization and subsequent seed development in flowering plants requires the delivery of two sperm cells, transported by a pollen tube, into the embryo sac of an ovule. The embryo sac cells tightly control synergid cell death, and as a result the polyspermy block. Arabinogalactan proteins are highly glycosylated proteins thought to be involved in several steps of the reproductive process. We show that JAGGER, Arabinogalactan Protein 4, is an important molecule necessary to prevent the growth of multiple pollen tubes into one embryo sac in Arabidopsis thaliana. In jagger, an AGP4 knockout mutant, the pistils show impaired pollen tube blockage as a consequence of the survival of the persistent synergid. JAGGER seems to be involved in the signaling pathway that leads to a blockage of pollen tube attraction. Our results shed light on the mechanism responsible for preventing polyspermy in Arabidopsis and for safe- guarding successful fertilization of all ovules in one pistil, ensuring seed set and the next generation.

Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is the fifth most common cancer and the second leading cause of cancer-related death *** data suggest that the epidemiology of HCC is changing;while the frequencies of hepatitis B virus(HBV)-and hepatitis C virus(HCV)-related HCC are progressively decreasing owing to the development of nucleo(t)side-based therapies and directly acting antiviral agents,respectively,the frequency of cryptogenic HCC continues to increase(15–30%of cases)(1).The rise of cryptogenic HCC is mainly related to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)(1,2).NAFLD encompasses a wide spectrum of liver injuries,ranging from steatosis to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis(NAsH),which may progress to cirrhosis(1,3).

Body mass is rarely recorded in amphibians,and other body measurements(*** to vent length,sVL)are generally collected ***,length measurements,when used as proxies of body mass in comparative analyses,are problematic if different taxa and morphotypes are *** developed allometric relationships to derive body mass from sVL *** fitted phylogenetic generalized least square models for frogs(Anura)and salamanders(Caudata)and for several families *** tested whether allometric relationships differed between species with different habitat preferences and between morphs in *** were fitted with sVL-mass measurements for 88 frog and 42 salamander *** assessed the predictive performance of the models by ***,the models showed high explained variance and low forecasting *** differed among semi-aquatic,terrestrial and arboreal frogs,and between paedomorphic and non-paedomorphic *** mass estimates derived from our models allow for comparability of studies on multiple taxa and can be used for testing theories built upon evolutionary and ecological processes which are directly related to body mass.

Primary biliary cholangitis and primary sclerosing cholangitis(PsC)are the most common cholestatic liver diseases(CLD)in adults and are both characterized by an immune *** primary biliary cholangitis is a model autoimmune disease,with over 90%of patients presenting very specific autoantibodies against mitochondrial antigens,PsC is considered an immune mediated *** is the most common bone disease in CLD,resulting in frequent fractures and leading to significant ***,sarcopenia is emerging as a frequent complication of chronic liver diseases with a significant prognostic impact and severe implications on the quality of life of *** mechanisms underlying osteoporosis and sarcopenia in CLD are still largely unknown and the association between these clinical conditions remains to be *** timely diagnosis,prevention,and management of osteosarcopenia are crucial to limit the consequences,there are no specific guidelines for management of osteoporosis and sarcopenia in patients with *** guidelines recommend screening for bone disease at the time of diagnosis of ***,the optimal monitoring strategies and treatments have not been defined yet and vary among *** herein aim to comprehensively outline the pathogenic mechanisms and clinical implications of osteosarcopenia in CLD,and to summarize expert recommendations for appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.

In the last years,several studies have been focused on elucidate the role of tumor microenvironment(TME)in cancer development and *** TME,cells from adaptive and innate immune system are one of the main abundant *** dynamic interactions between immune and cancer cells lead to the activation of complex molecular mechanisms that sustain tumor *** important cross-talk has been elucidate for several kind of tumors and occurs also in patients with liver cancer,such as hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma(iCCA).Liver is well-known to be an important immunological organ with unique ***,in normal conditions,the rich immune-infiltrating cells cooperate with non-parenchymal cells,such as liver sinusoidal endothelial cells and Kupffer cells,favoring self-tolerance against gut *** presence of underling liver immunosuppressive microenvironment highlights the importance to dissect the interaction between HCC and iCCA cells with immune infiltrating cells,in order to understand how this cross-talk promotes tumor *** attention is,in fact,focused on immune-based therapy for these tumors,as promising approach to counteract the intrinsic anti-tumor activity of this *** this review,we will examine the key pathways underlying TME cell-cell communications,with deeper focus on the role of natural killer cells in primary liver tumors,such as HCC and iCCA,as new opportunities for immune-based therapeutic strategies.

基于内蒙古乌达下二叠统太原组火山凝灰岩中保存的标本对窄楔叶sphenophyllum angustifolium(Germar)Goeppert的形态特征和生态习性进行探讨。标本异叶性明显,不同等级的茎上保存钩状线形叶、二裂叶、三裂叶和四裂叶。孢子叶穗着生于分枝顶端,每轮大约12片孢子叶,每片孢子叶近轴面上直接着生1个孢子囊,未发现孢囊柄的结构。本文对该植物的气生部分进行初步复原。根据本文材料以及已报道的楔叶属化石材料的形态学、解剖学特征和埋藏学的分析,认为该属植物可能是一种可以直立生长的草本植物,生活在三角洲平原、泛滥盆地或岸后湖泊、成煤沼泽及其边缘,适应轻度干旱至淹水环境。根据***(Germar)Goeppert深裂的叶型和表皮细胞特征,推测其可能生活在较长期淹水环境,属于湿性中生植物至湿性植物。

为了在设计之初对Iaas平台安全性评估提供科学依据,提出了专门适用于Iaas平台的耦合度计算方法.对Iaas耦合行为进行了抽象描述,并解释了Iaas平台耦合行为的特点,然后系统地归纳了Iaas平台耦合度的结构,并针对该结构基于改进的结构熵方法实现了Iaas平台耦合度的计算.最后以已有的Iaas平台为例,利用所提出的方法进行了平台耦合行为的抽象分析并计算了其耦合度,验证了该方法的可行性.计算结果表明:该方法的结果符合其实际设计情况,可以较好地对平台耦合程度进行量化,能够在设计之初为平台架构的安全性评估提供参考.

Primary biliary cirrhosis(PBC) is an autoimmune disease of the liver characterized by progressive bile duct destruction eventually leading to cirrhosis and liver *** serological hallmark of the disease is the presence of circulating antimitochondrial antibodies(AMA).These reflect the presence of autoreactive T and B cells to the culprit antigens,the E2 subunits of mitochondrial 2-oxo-acid dehydrogenase enzymes,chiefly pyruvate dehydrogenase(PDC-E2).The disease results from a combination of genetic and environmental risk *** predisposition is indicated by the higher familial incidence of the disease particularly among siblings and the high concordance rate among monozygotic *** triggering events appear crucial to disrupt a pre-existing unstable immune tolerance of genetic origin allowing,after a long latency,the emergence of clinical *** mimetopes of the vulnerable epitope of the PDC-E2 autoantigen can be derived from microbes that utilize the PDC enzyme or,alternatively,environmental xenobiotics/chemical compounds that modify the structure of native proteins to make them immunogenic.A further alternative as a source of antigen is PDC-E2 derived from apoptotic *** the effector phase the biliary ductular cell,by reason of itsproclivity to express the antigen PDC-E2 in the course of apoptosis,undergoes a multilineage immune attack comprised of CD4+ and CD8+ T cells and *** this article,we critically review the available evidence on etiopathogenesis of PBC and present interpretations of complex data,new developments and theories,and nominate directions for future research.
