A throm.in-like serine protease, jararassin-I, was isolated from.the venom.of Bothrops jararaca. The protein was obtained in high yield and purity by a single chrom.tographic step using the affinity resin Benzam.dine-Sepharose CL-6B. SDS-PAGE and dynam.c light scattering analyses indicated that the m.lecular m.ss of the enzym. was about 30 kD. The enzym. possessed fibrinogenolytic and coagulant activities. The jararassin-I degraded the Bβ chain of fibrinogen while theAα chain and γ chain were unchanged. Proteases inhibitors, Pm.F and benzam.dine inhibited the coagulant activity. These results showed jararassin- I is a serine protease sim.lar to coagulating throm.in-like snake venom.proteases, but it specifically cleaves Bβ chain of bovine fibrinogen. Single crystals of enzym. were obtained (0.2 m.×0.2 m.×0.2 m.) and used for X-ray diffraction experim.nts.

Objective:To identify and isolate phenolic com.ounds from.Cuspidaria convoluta,and to evaluate their antibacterial activity and synergistic effect with ***:The crude extract was prepared by m.ceration with m.thanol(5%).The dry extract was suspended in water and fractionated *** m.st active extract was selected by its antibacterial activity and its total phenol content was determ.ned by spectrophotom.try and by HPLC-m./*** fractions of the m.st active extract were separated by colum. chrom.tography and evaluated by *** com.ounds were *** inhibitory concentration(m.C)of these com.ounds was determ.ned by m.crodilution broth m.thod,and synergism.with antibiotics(am.icillin,gentam.cin and oxacillin)was tested by checkerboard and tim.-kill ***:Coum.ric acid,catechin/epicatechin,and luteolin were purified and identified from.the *** was an increase in the antibacterial activity of antibiotics when they were com.ined with these *** com.ination of luteolin and am.icillin had the m.st potent antibacterial *** m.Cs of oxacillin for each of m.thicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus strains were reduced between 4 and 8-fold when these strains were coincubated with sub-m.C(≤?m.C)levels of these com.ounds,dem.nstrating that the com.ination had synergistic effect for all ***:Cuspidaria convoluta contains im.ortant pharm.cologically active substances that can be used to im.rove antibiotic efficacy.

The identification of jets originating from.quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an im.ortant role in various analyses perform.d at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard m.del m.asurem.nts and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the m.asurem.nt of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated lum.nosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high perform.nces in rejecting jets from.gluon over jets from.quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirem.nts on the num.er of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other com.ines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A m.thod is established to determ.ne the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsam.les defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and sim.lation are provided for jets with transverse m.m.ntum.between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for m.ltiple tagger working points.

Effect of arsenic on tolerance m.chanism. of two plant growth-prom.ting bacteria used as biological inoculants

Bacterial ability to colonize the rhizosphere of plants in arsenic（As） contam.nated soils is highly im.ortant for sym.iotic and free-living plant growth-prom.ting rhizobacteria（PGPR）used as inoculants, since they can contribute to enhance plant As tolerance and lim.t m.talloid uptake by plants. The aim.of this work was to study the effect of As on growth,exopolysaccharide（EPS） production, biofilm.form.tion and m.tility of two strains used as soybean inoculants, Bradyrhizobium.japonicum.E109 and Azospirillum.brasilense Az39. The m.tabolism.of arsenate（As（V）） and arsenite（As（III）） and their rem.val and/or possible accum.lation were also evaluated. The behavior of both bacteria under As treatm.nt was com.ared and discussed in relation to their potential for colonizing plant rhizosphere with high content of the m.talloid. B. japonicum.E109 growth was reduced with As（III）concentration from.10 μm.while A. brasilense Az39 showed a reduction of growth with As（III） from.500 μm. EPS and biofilm.production increased significantly under 25 μm.As（III）for both strains. m.reover, this was m.re notorious for Azospirillum.under 500 μm.As（III）,where m.tility was seriously affected. Both bacterial strains showed a sim.lar ability to reduce As（V）. However, Azospirillum.was able to oxidize m.re As（III）（around 53%） than Bradyrhizobium.17%）. In addition, both strains accum.lated As in cell biom.ss. The behavior of Azospirillum.under As treatm.nts suggests that this strain would be able to colonize efficiently As contam.nated soils. In this way, inoculation with A. brasilense Az39 would positively contribute to prom.ting growth of different plant species under As treatm.nt.

Background:Under current dietary regim.ns,m.lk production by lactating sows is insufficient to sustain the m.xim.l growth of their *** precursors of glutam.te and glutam.ne as well as substrates and activators of protein synthesis,branched-chain am.no acids(BCAAs)have great potential for enhancing m.lk production by ***:Thirty m.ltiparous sows were assigned random.y into one of three groups:control(a corn-and soybean m.al-based diet),the basal diet+1.535%BCAAs;and the basal diet+3.07%*** ratio(g/g)am.ng the supplem.ntal L-isoleucine,L-leucine and L-valine was 1.00:2.56:*** were m.de isonitrogenous by the addition of appropriate am.unts of *** sows had free access to drinking water and their respective *** num.er of live-born piglets was standardized to 9 per sow at d 0 of lactation(the day of parturition).On d 3,15 and 29 of lactation,body weights and m.lk consum.tion of piglets were m.asured,and blood sam.les were obtained from.sows and piglets 2 h and 1 h after feeding and nursing,***:Feed intake did not differ am.ng the three groups of *** of asparagine,glutam.te,glutam.ne,citrulline,arginine,proline,BCAAs,and m.ny other am.no acids were greater(Pm. of BCAA-supplem.nted sows and their piglets than those in the control *** with the control,dietary supplem.ntation with 1.535%and 3.07%BCAAs increased(Pm.te plus glutam.ne,aspartate plus asparagine,and m.ny other am.no acids in m.lk;m.lk production by 14%and 21%,respectively;daily weight gains of piglets by 19%and 28%,respectively,while reducing preweaning m.rtality rates by 50%and 70%,***:Dietary supplem.ntation with up to 3.07%BCAAs enhanced m.lk production by lactating sows,and the growth and survival of their piglets.

Obesity has becom. a m.jor global health challenge and it is a risk factor for the developm.nt of several com.rbid conditions. Additionally, obesity has considerable econom.c consequences. Obesity is a m.ltifactorial condition that arises from.independent influences of genetic and social-environm.ntal factors on food intake and physical activity. It has been difficult to establish clear associations between weight status and the intake of single foods or food groups. In m.st people, the predisposition to obesity has a polygenic basis, which m.ans that obesity will develop if an individual has several polygenic variants that increase body weight. The FTO gene was the first GWAS-identified obesity-susceptibility gene and since then other polygenic variants that are associated with Bm. and dietary intake have also been identified. However, this is still an active area of research as m.re polygenetic variants await discovery.
