Coating independent cytotoxicity of citrate-and PEG-coated silver nanoparticles on a human hepatoma cell line

The antibacterial potential of silver nanoparticles（AgNPs） resulted in their increasing incorporation into consumer,industrial and biomedical ***,human and environmental exposure to AgNPs（either as an engineered product or a contaminant）supports the emergent research on the features conferring them different toxicity *** this study,30 ran AgNPs coated with citrate or poly（ethylene glycol）（PEG） were used to assess the influence of coating on the effects produced on a human hepatoma cell line（HepG2）,namely in terms of viability,apoptosis,apoptotic related genes,cell cycle and cyclins gene *** types of coated AgNPs decreased cell proliferation and viability with a similar toxicity *** the concentrations used（11 and 5 μg/ml corresponding to IC50 and-IC10 levels,respectively） the amount of cells undergoing apoptosis was not significant and the apoptotic related genes BCl2（anti-apoptotic gene）and BAX（pro-apoptotic gene） were both ***,both AgNPs affected HepG2 cell cycle progression at the higher concentration（11 μg/ml） by increasing the percentage of cells in S（synthesis phase） and G2（Gap 2 phase） *** the cell-cycle related genes,the expression of cyclin B1 and cyclin E1 genes were ***,this work has shown that citrate- and PEG-coated AgNPs impact on HepG2 apoptotic gene expression,cell cycle dynamics and cyclin regulation in a similar *** research is needed to determine the properties that confer AgNPs at lower toxicity,since their use has proved helpful in several industrial and biomedical contexts.

li2SnO3 branched nano- and microstructures with intense and broadband white-light emission

Exploiting the synergy between microstructure, morphology and dimensions by suitable nanomaterial engineeri ng, can effectively upgrade the physical properties and material performances. li2SnO3 elongated nano- and microstructures in form of belts, wires, rods and branched structures have been fabricated by a vapor-solid method at temperatures ranging from 700 to 900℃ using metallic Sn and li2CO3 as precursors. The achievement of these new morphologies can face challenging applications for li2SnO3, not only in the field of energy storage, but also as building blocks in optoelectronic devices. The micro? and nanostructures grown at 700 and 800℃ correspond to monoclinic li2SnO3, while at 900℃ complex li2S nO/SnO2 core-shell microstructures are grow n, as con firmed by X-ray diffractio n and Rama n spectroscopy. Transmission electron microscopy reveals structural disorder related to stacking faults in some of the branched structures, which is associated with the prese nee of the low-temperature phase of l12S nO3. The luminescent resp onse of these structures is domi nated by in tense emissi ons at 2, 2.5 and 3 eV, almost completely covering the whole range of the visible light spectrum. As a result, white-light emission is obtained without the need of phosphors or complex quantum well heterostructures. Enhanced functionality in applications such as in light-emitting devices could be exploited based on the high luminescenee intensity observed in some of the analysed li2SnO3 structures.

As forests in neotropical regions,particularly in developing countries,are devastated,interventions to restore biodiversity and its ecological functions are *** producers have thus been encouraged to grow trees for wood production as an economic *** objective of this study was to quantify the increment of wood density of four forest species from different successional classes of a mixed system of restoration in a neotropical forest in *** discs were sampled at breast height and analyzed radially by X-ray densitometry to obtain apparent density and basic *** trees each of a species from the pioneer,early and late secondary successional stages and of the dominant species in the climax *** radial profiles indicated increasing density from the pith to bark of trunks,except for some variations due to wood defects and *** density was 0.576 g cm^(-3),0.655 g cm^(-3),0.706 g cm^(-3)and 0.775 g cm^(-3),respectively,for Peltophorum dubium,Schinus terebinthifolius,Cariniana estrellensis and Hymenaea *** profiles indicated higher amplitudes in the apparent densities for slow-growing species.X-ray densitometry generated parameters such as minimum,average and maximum densities,and radial density *** parameters are important for understanding the ecological functional role of successional classes of the Atlantic Forest from the Neotropical region.

Schistosomiasis mansoni is a neglected disease and key public health problem,mainly due to its high prevalence,the scarcity of public policies,and the severity of some clinical *** fibrosis(PPF)is the commonest complication of chronic schistosomiasis mansoni and its diagnosis requires different *** though wedge biopsy of the liver is considered the gold standard,it is not justified in non-surgical patients,and percutaneous liver biopsy may be informative but does not have sufficient *** PPF tests mostly include biological(serum biomarkers or combined scores)or physical assessments(imaging assessment of fibrosis pattern or tissue stiffness).Moreover,imaging techniques,such as ultrasound,computed tomography,magnetic resonance imaging,and elastography are applied not only to support the diagnosis of schistosomiasis,but also to assess and detect signs of portal hypertension and organ damage due to chronic schistosomiasis.A combination between a comprehensive history and physical examination with biomarkers for liver fibrosis and imaging methods seems to offer the best approach for evaluating these *** addition,understanding their strengths and limitations will allow a more accurate interpretation in the clinical context and can lead to greater accuracy in estimating the degree of fibrosis in patients with Schistosomiasis mansoni(***)*** review will discuss the different noninvasive methods that are currently available for the evaluation of PPF in *** infection,and their application,advantages,and limitations in clinical practice.

Understanding the cognitive processes of the human mind is necessary to further learn about design thinking processes. Cognitive studies are also significant in the research about design studio. The aim of this study is to examine the effect of designers intelligence quotient （lOJ on their designs. The statistical population in this study consisted of all Deylaman Institute of Higher Education architecture graduate students enrolled in 2011. Sixty of these students were selected via simple random sampling based on the finite population sample size calculation formula. The students＇ IQ was measured using Raven＇s Progressive Matrices. The students＇ scores in Architecture Design Studio （ADS） courses from first grade （ADS-l） to fifth grade （ADS-5） and the mean scores of the design courses were used in determining the students＇ design ability. Inferential statistics, as well as correlation analysis and mean comparison test for independent samples with SPSS, were also employed to analyze the research data. Results indicated that the students＇ IQ ADS-1 to ADS-4 scores, and the mean scores of the students＇ design courses were not significantly correlated. By contrast, the students＇ IQ and ADS-5 scores were significantly correlated. As the complexity of the design problem and designers＇ experience increased, the effect of IQ on design seemingly intensified.

BACKGROUND Open dislocation of the glenohumeral joint is a very rare complication with only six cases described in the literature. Most cases resulted in severe complications like avascular necrosis of the humeral head or septic arthritis with poor functional results. The "mandatory" treatment of choice is surgery, with accurate debridement and reconstruction of the damaged soft tissues. However, the results in these cases do not approach those seen in classical *** SUMMARY This case report is the first description of an anterior open glenohumeral dislocation without associated fractures, but with complete avulsion of the soft tissue envelope of the proximal humerus. Surgical treatment consisted of copious lavage with saline solution, meticulous debridement of the nonviable soft tissues,reduction of the dislocated humeral head and reconstruction of the soft tissue envelope of the humeral head. The selected surgical approach was an inferior extension of the wound at the level of the delto-pectoral groove, as the best choice to be able to perform an adequate debridement and capsulo-tendinous reinsertion. At 6 mo there were no clinical signs of instability of the glenohumeral joint, the functionality of the joint was restricted to 90o of anterior elevation,internal rotation to l2, with severe limitation of abduction(60o) and external rotation(0o) but without residual pain, with an Oxford shoulder Score of *** Thorough reconstruction of the soft tissues surrounding the shoulder joint and an early rehabilitation program are key points to a good functional result.

In the Freudian-lacanian field,there is an important distinction between knowledge and *** truth,of an unconscious nature,is something that inhabits us,directs us,but that escapes ***,in turn,is something to be invented,from the hole of the Real,the Unconscious truth,and the subjective *** relationships between playing,creating,and fantasizing;the dimension of the uncanny,fiction,and imagination in subjectivity;the invention of knowledge of oneself,derived from the pains and flavors of being who one is,are creative dimensions that inhabit the subject,permeate the analytical act,and transversalize *** the practice,we listen to and witness processes of analysis that awaken an invention/reinvention of oneself,in the process of remembering,repeating,and elaborating,but also in what the transference relationship *** of oneself,does not guarantee a life without mishaps,sadness,and illusions,but allows the invention and recognition of knowledge and a *** concept of Sinthome(2007),coined by Jacques lacan,comes in the wake of the processes of self-invention and is a knowing-doing with the symptom,with the paradoxes of joyful suffering,producing,as a result,an art of ***,in this communication,I will articulate elements of theory,practice,and psychoanalytic experience that allow us to expand knowledge of the themes of invention and imagination articulated with the concept of sinthome,their relationships with subjectivity,and the direction of psychoanalytic treatment.
