The incidence of.Mycobacterium avium complex pulmonary disease (MACPD) has been globally increasing. The present study aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of.clinical characteristics and treatment response among patients in the Amazon region of.Brazil and conduct a retrospective cohort study at a prominent ref.rral hospital in the State of.Par, Brazil, f.om 2012 to 2020. The M. avium group represented 58.9% of.cases, f.llowed by M. intracellulare (35.7%), M. colombiense (3.6%), and M. chimaera (1.8%). The majority of.patients (73.2%) were f.male and with an average age of.63 years. Primary clinical manif.stations included persistent cough and sputum production. The Charlson comorbidity index (CCI) averaged 2.47, with 36.3% of.patients having a CCI score equal to higher than 3. Notably, over 70% of.patients had received treatment f.r pulmonary tuberculosis bef.re initiating treatment f.r MAC inf.ction. The f.brocavitary radiologic f.rm was the most prevalent (55.4%), f.equently exhibiting a bilateral distribution (53.6%). Antimicrobial susceptibility revealed a signif.cant prevalence of.MAC resistance to drugs in the therapeutic regimen. Despite this, most of.the patients experienced clinical improvement (50%). In conclusion, this study highlights a higher prevalence of.MAC inf.ctions among middle-aged women, with a history of.pulmonary tuberculosis treatment and presenting the f.brocavitary radiological f.rm was predominant.

The study of.the propagation of.inf.ctious diseases in urban centers f.nds a close connection with their population's social characteristics and *** work perf.rms a spatial analysis of.dengue cases in urban centers based on the basic reproduction numbers,R0,and incidence by planning areas(PAs),as well as their correlations with the Human Development Index(HDI)and the number of.*** analyzed dengue epidemics in 2002 at two Brazilian urban centers,Belo Horizonte(BH)and Rio de Janeiro(RJ),using PAs as spatial *** results reveal heterogeneous spatial scenarios f.r both cities,with very weak correlations between R0 and both the number of.trips and the HDI;in BH,the values of.R0 show a less spatial heterogeneous pattern than in *** BH,there are moderate correlations between incidence and both the number of.trips and the HDI;meanwhile,they weakly correlate f.r ***,the absence of.strong correlations between the considered measures indicates that the transmission process should be treated considering the city as a whole.

Serum levels of.angiotensin converting enzyme as a biomarker of.liver f.brosis

The renin angiotensin system(RAS) is classically conceived as a circulating hormonal system involved in blood pressure control and hydroelectrolyte balance. The discovery that RAS components are locally expressed in a wide range of.organs and tissues,including the liver,pointed to a role f.r this system in the pathogenesis of.several conditions including hepatic f.brosis and cirrhosis. It has been widely reported that the classical RAS axis composed by the angiotensin converting enzyme(ACE)-angiotensin(Ang) Ⅱ-Ang type 1(AT1) receptor mediates pro-inf.ammatory,pro-thrombotic,and pro-f.brotic processes. On the other hand,the alternative axis comprising ACE2-Ang-(1-7)-Mas receptor seems to play a protective role by f.equently opposing Ang Ⅱ action. Chronic hepatitis B(CHB) is one of.the leading causes of.liver f.brosis,accounting f.r the death of.nearly one million people worldwide. Liver f.brosis is a key f.ctor to determine therapeutic interventions f.r patients with CHB. However,the establishment of.non-invasive and accurate methods to detect reversible stages of.liver f.brosis is still a challenge. In an elegant study published in the 36 th issue of.the World Journal of.Gastroenterology,Noguchi et al showed the predictive value of.serum ACE levels in detecting not only advanced stages of.liver f.brosis but also initial and intermediate f.brotic stages. The serum levels of.ACE might represent an accurate,non-invasive,widely available,and easy method to evaluate f.brosis related to CHB. Moreover,therapies involving the inhibition of.the classical RAS axis components might be promising in the control of.CHB-related liver f.brosis.

Laser surf.ce texturing is a versatile approach f.r manuf.cturing implants with suitable surf.ces f.r *** work explores the use of.laser to f.bricate NiTi textured implants,testing two dif.f.rent groove-based *** perf.rmance was evaluated in vivo through implantation in Sprague Dawley rats’f.mur,being then analyzed af.er 4 and 12 weeks of.***-out experiments and histological characterization allowed to assess bone-implant bond and osseointegration and to compare the laser textured solutions with non-textured *** showed that,at 4 weeks of.implantation,mainly immature woven bone was present whilst at 12 weeks a more mature bone had ***-sidering the largest implantation time(12 weeks),results showed extraction f.rces considerably higher f.r textured implants(G2 and G3).Moreover,when comparing G2 and G3,it was f.und that G2(having the highest textured surf.ce area)displayed the maximum extraction f.rce among all groups,with an increase of.212%when compared to non-textured implants(G1).These results prove that the design and manuf.cturing technology are ef.ective to promote an im-proved bone-implant bond,aiming the development of.orthopedic implants.

Introduction: 68Ga-PSMA-11 is considered the gold standard in detection of.micro and oligometastases in advanced prostate cancer, being used f.r therapeutic planning, as well as, potentially, f.r evaluating response to treatment. The development of.ready-to-use lyophilized kit of.PSMA-11 adds quality and saf.ty to the routine use of.this radiopharmaceutical and represents a pharmacotechnical challenge as it must preserve the integrity and specif.city of.the ligand. Methods: PSMA-11 kit f.rmulation was proposed, considering radiolabeling parameters and the preservation of.the peptide during the lyophilization process, using mannitol as an excipient. Critical temperature characterization studies were carried out using DSC equipment and the f.eeze-drying process was developed. The direct radiolabeling conditions were evaluated and standardized using 68Ge/68Ga generator eluate f.om two dif.erent manuf.cturers (ITG and Eckert & Ziegler). The radiochemical purity was evaluated by TLC and HPLC. Biological evaluation was carried out with lyophilized PSMA-11 to demonstrate the integrity of.the peptide and preservation of.biological activity af.er the lyophilization process. Results: Based on critical temperature characterization studies, the f.eeze-drying cycle was designed to reach a f.eezing temperature of.around −40˚C and primary drying at 2˚C. Using 20 mg of.mannitol, an intact and elegant lyophilized cake was obtained. PSMA-11 lyophilized kit was directly labeled with 68Ga eluate f.om 68Ge/68Ga GMP generators (ITG and Eckert & Ziegler) resulting in % RP > 95% at pH 4.0 to 4.5. The results obtained f.om in vitro and in vivo biological competition studies conf.rmed the preservation of.PSMA-11 af.inity f.r the receptor af.er lyophilization. Conclusion: A lyophilized f.rmulation (Kit) of.PSMA-11 was successf.lly obtained, which preserved the integrity and biological activity of.the peptide and guaranteed radiolabeling ef.iciency.

Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) is a progressive inf.ammatory liver disorder that is rare in children and adolescents. AIH has a broad clinical spectrum and a quick response to treatment with corticosteroids and immunosuppressive medication. The available diagnosis criteria have limitations and should be evaluated in pediatric populations. Recently, some studies reported that the 2008 simplif.ed diagnostic criteria f.r AIH could be used in children with high sensibility and specif.city. In addition, the authors reported that globulin and immunoglobulin G levels can be used interchangeably f.r diagnostic purposes. They also demonstrated that the 2008 simplif.ed criteria f.il in identif.ing patients with f.lminant hepatic f.ilure. Here, we discuss the limitations of.the use of.these criteria in pediatric patients and the requirement of.more studies to improve the diagnosis of.AIH in children.

Choosing the most appropriate rootstock(s)is a key decision f.r the prof.tability of.vineyards;theref.re,there must be a suf.icient range of.rootstocks in the market adapted to dif.erent environmental conditions and production ***,rootstock-breeding programs have been scarce in recent decades,and most of.the rootstocks used today were bred a century ago,when the needs of.the sector were very dif.erent f.om *** this work,we aimed to evaluate new rootstock candidates bef.re their introduction in the *** agronomic evaluation was conducted on eight novel rootstock genotypes obtained f.om the f.rst generation of.the cross-pollination of.41 B Millardet et de Grasset(41 B)and 110 Richter(110 R)graf.ed with‘Syrah’and‘Tempranillo’and planted in a typical vineyard of.the Ebro Valley in *** the f.ur consecutive growing seasons(2016–2019),growth,yield and berry composition parameters at harvest were collected.A linear mixed-ef.ects model was constructed,considering year and block as random *** f.ctor analysis and hierarchical clustering on principal components were perf.rmed to establish clusters of.genotypes with similar *** rootstock candidates showed a very wide perf.rmance range compared to their *** trial allowed us to identif. two very promising candidates(RG8 and RG10),whose registration as commercial rootstocks is already in progress.
